I have wondered during the course of season 2 why it seems Sarah is still suffering from the break up and Chuck does not seem to realize how the trust issue and disappointment caused by the break up impact the relationship. When he asks Sarah to take a vacation that is like saying lets have a roll in the hay and then goodbye–he told her during the break up that they could not be together. Granted he broke up to keep Sarah alive however Sarah does not know that was the situation. Throughout the various episodes in season 2 Sarah’s facial expressions indicate she is worried about another disappointment. It seems redemtion for Chuck with Sarah will require seeing the survellance tapes showing Chuck saying he would give up his life for Sarah to Roan Montgomery, the white jacket comment by Roan the two conversations with Bryce (in the break up) and the announcement to his dad that he loves Sarah.
