Chuck vs the Goodbye: 10 Years Later

Today marks the tenth anniversary of the Chuck series finale. It feels like a decade …

  1. I made a post last week about how to save Chuck on my blog, <a href=”http://cosmicviolet.livejournal.com/40822.html”here, with a link back to this site. I’ve been telling everyone how great the show is, so hopefully it will come back.

  2. I sent letters to the two NBC addresses posted on your site. I love this show- it will break my heart if it doesn’t come back!

  3. I sent a letter to NBC and posted several comments on their website. I understand that they’ve put off the decision until next week. Save Chuck!

  4. Heather WIllis

Ok, I have written two letters to NBC execs, I wrote a thank-you-for-supporting-Chuck email to Subway, I purchased two subway footlongs the night of the finale (subway club and coldcut combo-both yummy), I laughed uproariously at the video of Levi leading all the people to Subway and making sandwiches and I LOVE Chuck!!!

  5. I’ve sent a letter to nbc, twittered my brains out & bought subway footlongs

  6. I sent numerous letters to NBC, purchased several Oven-roasted chicken breast footlongs from Subway, I’ve twittered my life away with #chuck #savechuck #supportchuck, I signed every petition I could (and got my friends & family to sign them, too) and I sent $76 of Nerds to NBC.

    SAVE CHUCK OR CHUCK YOU!!

  7. Matches Malone

Wrote a letter to NBC. Didn’t get an answer…

  8. I’ve been Twittering about Chuck and Save Chuck multiple times per day for the past two weeks (and probably driving everyone who follows me completely insane in the process).

I also enjoyed a Veggie Delight footlong last Monday for the wonderful finale and brought a guest and fellow Chuck fan who got the one with all the meat in it footlong (sorry, vegetarian). We both enjoyed them. SAVE CHUCK!

  9. I wrote NBC (e-mail and snail mail) urging them to keep Chuck. I also included my receipt from the purchase of my meatball footlong the night of the Chuck finale and messaged Subway as well about my purchase. Chuck me!

  10. 1. Tweeted! http://twitter.com/roniabirk/status/1706359255
    2. Blogged! http://roniabirk.livejournal.com/505254.html

    Here’s to a Season 3 of Chuck!

  11. My hubsand and I both had sweet onion chicken teriyaki footlongs! We love Chuck!

  12. Used the great graphics to make a shirt to wear all weekend at the Grand Slam Sci-Fi summit in LA- got lots of great feedback, and talked to a lot of folks about supporting Chuck!

  13. Twittered like crazy for #Chuck! @AwesomeRococo.

  14. I bought a footlong (steak & cheese) last Monday. This Monday, en route to my local Subway in DC I happened to pass one of the “regular” homeless people who hang out in the neighborhood where I walk. So I bought a tuna footlong for myself and a classic Italian for him.

  15. I wrote a letter to NBC. I purchased a footlong on the night of the finale (sweet onion chicken teryaki) and e-mailed subway. I’ve been posting links on both my facebook and twitter pages. We need to get this show renewed!

  18. 1. I wrote two letters to NBC! One to Ben Silverman and the other to Angela Bromstad.
    2. http://ndnickerson.livejournal.com/28250.html
    3. http://twitter.com/ndnickerson (not exactly sure how to link to a specific twitter. *shakes fist*)
    4. Used the graphic in the post linked above (#2).
    5. Bought a footlong tuna on Italian with lettuce, tomato, and extra pickles for the Chuck finale!

    #savechuck!

  19. We bought 2 meatball footlongs on “the night” (and I sent the reciept into NBC!) and we bought turkey sandwiches last night too! Chuck rocks!

  20. Ben Silverman’s address might be wrong?! I sent as written and it was Returned to Sender, unable to deliver as addressed, unable to forward (uh huh)…so FYI! Apparently the other letter to Angela went through. I wrote “cc Ben Silverman” on her letter so hopefully they will talk. yeah of course they will. SAVE CHUCK!

  21. I sent the following letter to NBC. My husband and I are HUGE Chuck fans. I also have put links to this campaign as well as “Save Chuck” flair on my Facebook page:

I am quite certain that you have gotten a large amount of e-mails, written letters, and phone calls regarding the fate of “Chuck.” That being said, I do hope that you have time to at least skim one more.

My name is Melissa Haywood, I am twenty-nine years old, and I have a thirty-one year old husband named Allen. On Monday nights, after a grueling day in “the real world”, we pop some popcorn, grab some orange juice (you should try the combination, it’s delicious) and sit down in front of our television for a helping of one of the best shows we have ever had the pleasure to watch in our lifetime. No, that is not an over exaggeration in any way.

You surely know by now that “Chuck” has a very loyal fanbase. Now, perhaps we are not as big as you would like us to be, but given what we’ve had to work with, I feel that we are rather impressive. We had a shortened first season due to the writers’ strike, which slowed down momentum, as well as caused the new series to fall to the back of some people’s minds; then it ended before May sweeps this season. Please don’t base “Chuck’s” fate on what boils down to a season and a half.

I fully understand that reality television is cheaper to produce, but what networks need to understand is that a lot of viewers need more than that. We are smart, educated people and need more than “real” people backstabbing and having their coarse grammar “bleeped.” “Chuck” is a smart, funny series with heart – something that the viewing public does not get to often enough. With things the way they are in the world right now, please leave us a show that has action, romance, and gives us characters that we truly care about. Maybe the medical and police dramas can take a break and let something different shine through.

After what I am hoping was the season finale only aired last week, my heart broke. Thinking that such a beloved series could end in such an intense way, that left its fans breathless for more, seems nothing short of cruel. So many amazing series have been cancelled before their time, simply due to a few unlucky elements. Many of them would be thriving by now had they been given the chance they deserved…

Please put your trust in the fans. We can spread the word about a good show better than any marketing campaign. We are avid supporters of the things we love and “Chuck” is at the very top of that list.

I thank you very much for your time and truly hope that you will take your viewers into consideration when deciding “Chuck’s” fate.

    Sincerely,

    Melissa Haywood

Already sent my Subway pic to you guys, but I bought 2 footlongs on Finale day: One was an Oven Roasted Chicken Breast w/Lettuce & Mayonnaise, and the other was a Black Forest Ham w/Lettuce, Mustard, & Mayonnaise. I liked the second one better 😀

Had one yesterday too, that was identical to the 2nd one I had on Finale day. It was amazing.

    I bought 5 footlongs on 4/27

  27. We love Chuck! We hit our local subway for footlongs to eat during the finale, and watched as a family – it. was. awesome!

  28. We’re now watching reruns, as we wait for news of Chuck’s renewal. They are still amazing – each time I re-watch, I see more that I missed! And all the Save Chuck campaigns are keeping us topped up, so we don’t go crazy missing Chuck!

  29. CHUCK ME!!! Yes, that’s my new favorite saying. Not only does NBC need to read these letters, they need to do as we are asking and save Chuck! We are great fans. It is rare these days to have a show that is this funny that the entire family won’t miss. Everyone from the youngest member to the oldest member can watch it. And with the economy the way it is, we certainly need at least one hour of guaranteed humor in our lives these days!! Please save Chuck!! We’ve not only been eating at Subway, we’ve been sending Subway letters (as they are an advertiser on the show), we’ve been e-mailing NBC and I’ve even joined NBC as a panel watcher. If you go to NBC’s home page and go to contact us at the bottom there is a link to comment on shows. Fill it out!!!

  30. My 5 yr old daughter made a video talking about why she loves Chuck. You can see it on youtube at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9872ryMNLko

I have written letters to save Chuck, I purchased my Italian BMT from Subway on April 27th, I wrote a physical card and an online card to Subway to save the show, I have taken several online surveys, and posted mutiple notes online all in the hopes to save Chuck. There are so few good shows on television these days, it would be a shame to let Chuck go without a fight. Save Chuck!!!

Also bought a meatball footlong on monday. I absolutely love this show. It has something for everyone.

  38. I’ve sent a letter to NBC with a couple of Nerds boxes! On April 27th, I enjoyed the footlong chicken Teryaki (inspired by Chuck) Save Chuck!

  39. I ate a foot long Oven-Roasted Chicken Breast the night of the Finale and it was almost as tasty as the episode.

  40. A group of us have weekly Chuck viewing at my house so we sent in a bunch of letters and boxes of nerds! They must renew it!

  41. Callie Patsellis

I am 14. I don’t have a MySpace or Twitter or anything, so I couldn’t post a link. But I bought a meatball footlong and conviced a grand total of 27 people to do the same! I hung up posters all over my school to support the campaign and sent e-mails to lots of people. I also wrote letters to various NBC and Subway execs and got my friends to write also.
Chuck is my favorite show!!! Long live the Nerd Herd!!!

  42. Bought meatball and a turkey ham footlongs the week before the final (lots of confused looks when I said I was there to support chuck) My parents also bought footlongs that day at a different location (also confused looks). Then went back monday of the finale and bought two more footlongs (yet more confused looks).

  43. Well, I’ve written 2 letters each to all of the people listed. One to show my support for a renewal of Chuck. Then, the second follow up letter enclosing my receipts for a Subway footlong for lunch and dinner on the Season finale day.

  44. I have not been as emotionally incested in a show since Firefly. And its feels the same, a network that puts it on at a bad time, huge breaks in new shows, etc.

I’ve look forward to Monday nights since the first episode aired. We plan ahead to have friends over to watch with us.

I’ve been writing letters, have signed online petitions, commented Subway (The roasted chickens we had for the finale were great), and posted numerous times on my facebook to join the fight.

I’ve loaned out my Season One DVDs and got a few more people hooked.

I will be deeply saddened if Chuck isn’t renewed. I think its the best show on TV right now. And honestly, I’m done with NBC if they cancel.

  45. I sent 4 letters total… 2 handwritten letters 2 typed with a pen signature… both were on Nerd Herd Paper that i made… put in a Buymore Company Envelope that i also made.. so ben and angela got one of each…

  46. On the day of the season Finale I participated with the Chuck vs the Footlong..
I met up with both of my parents and my aunt and uncle for lunch I also took orders from my work. Then Later that night i also had a 5$ footlong for Dinner. 1 sweet chicken teryaki or as i call it The Big Mike Special and 1 italian BMT Footlong and it was a lot of subway for one day.. but thats what i do for a show i care about. haha

i also created an event for the subway and watch Chuck’s Season finale and invited everyone on my list http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=74117763639

  47. for a flash animation class we had to make a web ad. so once again i created a Chuck button.. we had a short period of time to do it so it is not 100% timed right but i got a good grade on it.. it can be seen on youtube at:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HeO2bBx3H20

  48. I got my best friend hooked on the show which he then got his bother and parents hooked on the show… I got my parents on the show plus some of my other friends hooked on the show… and a few classmates to watch the show…

I have also thrown 3 chuck Parties… where i invite people to watch chuck who has not yet been introduced to the awsomeness of chuck… two of the parties we started from the pilot and the third was a continuation of the previous… also i have been known to host a few of the nbc viewing parties…

also got a twitter account so i could tweet about it? i think that is how you say it…
    www.twitter.com/gee_dogg_24

  49. for a web class i had to recreate a website by writing the code I based my website on this website we had 2 weeks to do it in.. it is simple but i got some people in my class to watch the show..

    The website:

    chuckvstheweb.
    freehostia.
