Fedak Talks to SciFiWire; Zac Talks to Collider

We have a couple of interviews today, one from Chris Fedak who gives a lot of not new information about season 3 (c’mon, man!) and one from Zachary Levi who talks about Subway while playing with a baby.

Chris Fedak Talks to SciFiWire:

The creators of NBC’s Chuck aren’t about to let the audience forget about the show during its long hiatus until midseason—they’re planning some kind of Web presence, said Chuck executive producer and co-creator Chris Fedak.

“We’re talking to NBC now about what is going to be the super-clever idea to kind of bridge that time. It is going to be something on the Internet to keep fan awareness alive and remind people about the show,” Fedak told SCI FI Wire in an exclusive phone interview.

Fedak added that Chuck, which was picked up for midseason by NBC, may appear sooner than the expected March 2010.

Chuck is set to air in its same timeslot, on Mondays at 8 p.m. ET/PT. That’s good news for fans who lobbied NBC and key sponsor Subway for the show’s renewal. But with Chuck’s third season planned to premiere in March 2010, that’s a very long wait. “We’re excited to launch after the Winter Olympics and to launch also with NBC’s other new show [Day One]. But schedules aren’t written in stone for a reason. So you never know. Maybe you’ll see us sooner than that,” Fedak said.

  1. I like chuck slightly less as i went to the collider interview location, and I wasn’t allowed in as I was a civilian and not a celeb.

    Lame.

  2. ah, so thats interesting re the abilities. once used, can’t be used again?…

  3. Fanatic – sorry about your experience – but that was probably something that Zach had no control over – so it may have been somebody’s “bad,” but not his. All I can say is GREAT INTERVIEW(S) – and Zach, YOU ROCK!! Hollywood needs more “real people” like you who are thankful for what they’ve got and who really appreciate their fans – not just paying them “lip service,” but sincerely appreciate them (meaning US). Keep up the GREAT work!!

  4. Fanatic…the Land of the Lost pre-release party in Santa Monica was a media event that wasn’t open to the public. However, if you stuck around towards the end (around 1:30pm) Zac popped outside and said hi to people, signed autographs, and stuff. He actually got pulled back inside but he promised (and delivered on it) to come back outside to finish what he’d started so he could greet all the fans. I’ve had the chance to meet Zac a couple times and I can tell you he is exceedingly generous with his time in regards to fan interaction. I spoke with the guy who did the Collider interview during the event (Steven??) and he actually commented on the fact that he’s never known a TV show lead who works for the show’s success and gives as much to the fans, as Zac. I’m sorry that you didn’t get a chance to meet up with him, but just so you know…don’t ever leave early from a Zac attended event because he WILL be there for the fans. [Heck…this is a guy who made 200 sandwiches over the course of 2 hours to appease every one of his fans…even stopping to pose for pictures and video when asked.]

I actually got to go because the Subway people flew me out (long story) and most of the guests were either corporate people from Subway, employees, or members of the press. Subway donated a bunch of sandwiches they made to a local shelter in the area as well as the event wound to a close…so don’t be too harsh. I think Mel actually updated the event info to reflect that it was not an open forum.

  5. Ye sthat is very interseting about Chuck’s new abilities, I also wonder if he’s only going to be able to flash on physical abilities or I also read somewhere that is not just going to be those.

  6. That was awsome. Viva la Buymoria

  7. Chris Fedak says that the entire cast will be back for season 3, that is GREAT NEWS!
MEL, is there anyway of getting your hands on the picture of the entire cast and crew that Chris Fedak took during the season finally and posting it to chuck tv? I am sure a lot of people would love to see it, me being one of them.

  8. Nice to see someone be modest, responsible, and willing to also give credit to
others as well for the show’s success. Really appreciate Zach’s USO tour for the troops overseas who do so much to keep us safe at home as well as Subway’s
sponsorship of the tour. Also like his comments about the PR side of the business and his appreciation for the sponsor and the fans who watch the show
and who come to the events. It’s unusual these days to see a celebrity who is
also a nice, regular guy who doesn’t take things for granted, and who works
very hard to keep the show going on and off the set. It seems clear he also
has a clear understanding of the business side of what it takes to keep a show
    on the air.

Hope that Schwartz/Fedak take a look at these comments every once in a while
on this site. It couldn’t hurt them to see what the end users ( the viewers )
think of all of this as they start 3rd season production. Once again, if they
ignore viewer wants and needs, they do so at the show’s peril.

Thanks to Zach again for all of his hard work. Good luck with the 3rd season!

  9. Zach u ROCK MAN!!! 🙂
