CASTING NEWS: Angie Harmon Signs On!

The guest cast for the first half of Chuck‘s third season is shaping up to be just as amazing as season 2. The latest: Angie Harmon (best known for her stint as an ADA on Law & Order) will appear in the season’s fourth episode, “Chuck vs. Operation Awesome” as “Sydney”, a spy for The Ring who will be out to get Ryan McPartlin’s Captain Awesome. Wait, Captain Awesome? Yep, sounds like the fan speculation was correct and this episode does indeed revolve around the newlywed Mr. Woodcomb. Just what happens to get super-spy Sydney on his trail? We’ll have to wait and see!

(P.S. Kudos to Chuck fan “sb” who suggested Harmon for the role in the original spoiler post!)

  1. So much for Jennifer Garner, but Angie will be GREAT, too! And Kudos from here also to the fan who suggested her for the role. You, my friend, have outstanding insight/intuition!!

One thing I don’t get. We seemed to hear so much about the show having to undergo budget cuts, but with all these great guest stars that are being lined up, I don’t see budget cuts as far as casting goes.

The return of Carina, the addition of “Superman,” the addition of “Young Superman’s first love,” and now Angie Harmon. These 13 episodes are sure not going to be short on STAR POWER!!

Great news all the way around!!

  2. There has to be a mistake in that Casting news. There is no mention of her being a love interest for Chuck.
I hope no one on the Chuck staff is going to get fired for this oversite.

I like Angie and think she will be a great guest. This episode sounds – well simply put – awesome.

    • LOL! Good one, Gord.

      • Hey Mel,

We will see if this thread gets a 100 comments or if the fans only respond to DOUBLE HOTTIE LOVE TRIANGLES….

The media knows the game and they know how to generate web hits.

LOVE THE SITE AND KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!!

Season Three coming soon but anticipation building sooner!!

      • Nice one Gord! Finally, someone that is not a love intrest. Though I have to say, all the guest stars thus far are well…..AWESOME!!!

    • Gord. I didn’t want to say anything about the lack of the “potential love interest” or “rival for affection” in the announcement – for fear that I would be the one who would be accused of stirring up the pot. I”m THRILLED that neither of those phrases were included in the AWESOME announcement of Angie Harmon’s guest appearance.

Let’s just say if it turns out that the pattern of the past two guest stars (Brandon and Kristin) continues and she IS a potential “rival for affection,” it’s
      (1) a smart move on part of the powers that be to finally wise up and at least NOT admit it! – or
      (2) hopefully it’s a rival for CASEY’s affection!!

I usually post here and spend less time posting on Chuckmeout (although I refer to the site often). I finally started to post there, and Good Lord, you should see some of the posts. Fans are really letting their voices be heard – and at times, unfortunately, going at it. Not good. Not good.

Can “those in charge” really think that a combination of alienating a certain (large) faction of the loyal, dedicated fan base and having ongoing bickering going on a GOOD thing??

A very wise President once said, “A house divided against itself will not stand.” (or something very similar to that). I’d hate to see the “House of Chuck” go that route. I want an S4 and an S5, too!!!

C’mon “powers that be!” Keep it POSITIVE. We’re only fans – it’s not OUR jobs on the line – it’s YOURS! I worked for a small private company for 12 years. Rule #1 – DON’T DO ANYTHING TO INTENTIONALLY ALIENATE THE CUSTOMER, OR THE CUSTOMER WILL GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!! I ate, drank, slept, and **** that rule for 12 years of my life.

I’m not planning on going anywhere else. I still have hope that the show will be great in Season 3. However, the teasers haven’t given me reason to optimistic, but I’m hoping that our chains are just being yanked. But it would be nice if the what seems like intentional aggravating of a good portion of the fan base would stop. As one of my seminary professors always used to tell us if we found ourselves doing/saying things that we shouldn’t, “CUT IT THE H**L OUT!” Sage advice.

      • I agree with the majority of your issues there Rick.
Very well put, and by the way where did you see posts on ChuckMeOut ?
the only thing I see there are videos and interactive widgets of sorts.

      • Since I’m not looking at the site right now, I may be “off,” but I think you click on where it says COMMMUNITY on the main page, and then that will take you to message boards. You have to register/sign in with an email address and password. But there are hundreds and hundreds of people posting – even over a thousand I saw on one post (I think you can guess what the subject matter of that one was).

Anyway, I find THIS site actually more current and more “newsbreaking” thant chuckmeout.

      • thanks for your answer Rick, I’ll check it out anyway.

      • Rick
I was just going for sarcasm, I really don’t think Angie will be anyone’s love interest although you never know.
I think the PR people are doing the show a disservice by suggesting any guest is a love interest.

The previous cast announcements would have all been viewed positively by all fans if it weren’t for the hints of angst.
They must be subsribing to the theory that any publicity is good publicity, but I think they are way off base.
It’s true that when you go to the NBC Chuck forums, people are talking about these new characters, but mostly about how they hate what they perceive the direction of the show to be. That kind of vitriol can not be good for the show.
Personally, I think the angst is not going to be as bad as some think it will be, and that S3 will still be very entertaining.
Call me crazy, but there were parts of the Jill and Cole storylines that I really enjoyed in S2. There were some very funny moments and some great action scenes. I can’t say that I will like it, but I can probably live with a little bit of angst, just as long as it is over quickly. It just seems to most of us that Chuck and Sarah have evolved beyond the point of having new love interests.
I would prefer however, that if any new co-stars/guest stars are going to be love interests for Chuck or Sarah, they just keep it to themselves.

      • I agree pretty much with what you said, pal. I just HATE it to see the UNNECESSARY angst. As I’ve stated before, If I have to see Sarah cry one more time because some other “love interest” come’s Chuck’s way, or if I have to see Chuck depressed because of the same thing happening with Sarah – I’m going to either: sigh hevily, scream at the TV, or switch to Quiznos (just kidding!!!).

I just think there is a wonderful opportunity to move this relationship forward, and with that would come GREAT stories to tell. They keep talking about their “thing” is telling the story of a hero in pieces. I think moving the Chuck/Sarah relationship forward will let us get to know them better (and let them get to know each other better). There is a depth to theses characters that you don’t normally find on TV today. Having them move forward would be a good way to delve into that depth of their characters.

I hope, like you, that this is just teasing stuff to keep us talking. I think it’s unnecessary teasing because there is enough for us to talk about with out the little “angst” additions.

I’m hoping for good – no, GREAT stuff in Season 3! I just hope that what they seem to be implying in the teasers isn’t really what happens, because we’ve been there and done that.

Anyway, I’m on board for the long (or short) haul – however long this show will be on the air – hopefully for at least S4 and S5!! And I’m tryin’ my best to STAY POSITIVE. A few less tortuous teasers about rivals for affection, etc., by TPTB would certianly be a help. 🙂

Keep on Chuckin’ all you Chuckaholics!! AND PEACE!!!! 🙂 🙂

    • LOL It does, we just cant see it because the text is white. XP

    • HAHAHA GORD!!!!

Although it is worth mentioning that the love interest stuff is the media angle and boy does it bring out the web hits!!! The official word of course is “lots of cool surprises” from Fedak.

Anyway you are right, Season three is going to be AWESOME.

Can’t wait to see Captain Awesome the SPY.

Just like Ali says ‘Best season yet’. And we know she is all about Charah!

  3. The budget cuts come from behind the scenes and having the supporting cast show up in alternate episodes.

    • I am loving the budget cuts so far! They can’t keep leaning on Buy More and whatnot. We know that Chuck Sarah and Casey will be in each episode and that is what counts!!!

Bring on Season Three, time to rock the Chuck world.

      • Agree with you there, dave. I like the buymore crew, but sometimes too much of the buymore is just too much. Focus on the main characters and their “spy lives.” THAT’s the heart of the story. throw in the buymore stuff for a little comic relief from time to time, but stick with the main characters of the show!

  4. A Chuck/Alias crossover woulda been fun though I was 99.998% sure that was not the case.

Yes, enough of Chara for now, Sugarbear needs some lovin too 😉 Hopefully Casey will be a little more active in S3, S2 Casey just wasnt quite S1 Casey as far as I can remember if that makes any since. But than again I may be talking nonsince cus I havent watched any of S2 in what FEELS like years! Season 2 DVDs where are you?!

    • Yeah, Casey needs a girl that will not let him get away with grunting IN ANY SITUATION, whether in front of Chuck and Sarah or privately.

      We need Casey totally whipped!

Come on Josh give CASEY SOME LOVIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am thinking somebody younger but like Morgan’s mom, Hispanic or Italian and motherly as all get out with a big heart.

      • I think Morgan’s mom is older than Casey…
Plus he needs someone who is both tough and feminine…but Latin does seems
        to be a correct direction.

      • I dont think Morgan’s mom is the one for Casey. I agree with Alex. He needs someone that tough and can stand up to him.

  5. I agree with Padre Rick in that this fansite/blog on steroids (heavy lifting, hee hee) is way better than ChuckMeOut. I couldn’t find the community page there either until Rick mentioned it. What’s up with that?
BTW If you want a website with 100% positive fan responses it’s Ausiello’s. They’re all clamoring for Chuck to come back sooner than March.

  6. Amazing cast for this season, March CHUCK season 3 premier is to long !!!

  7. More evidence that Chuck season 3 is going to rock. Bring on the hotties!

Josh Schwartz and the gang just know how to cast. All the guest stars have blended in seemlessly.

Keep the spoilers coming, it looks better every day.

This show is going to take off big time with the brilliant casting.

    AWESOME THE SPY!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Double HELL YEAH!!

Can’t wait for season 3 action!

  8. Just had a thought for the final confrontation with Sydney.

Casey and Awesome are holed up in the theatre room at Buy More, with Sydney outside with several trained killers. In come Chuck and Sarah to save the day and we have a fight scene just like in Nemesis complete with a line from Awesome “Wow they really are awesome together”.

  9. Father Rick….”If a house is divided against itself, that house cannot stand.” Mark 3:25

    • Nan – that’s what Abraham Lincoln was quoting from scripture. I don’t remember which Lincoln speech it was – perhaps the Gettybsburg address. I used to pride myself on my knowledge of American History, but little by little it’s slipping away! ;(

But thanks again for going to the ULTIMATE source: SCRIPTURE!! 🙂

      • No worries, Father Rick. I did not know a president quouted this verse, so it’s all good. You learn something new everyday!

  10. Rick, although I agree with you 100 percent about growing, exploring, and
developing Sarah/Chuck in their ongoing relationship, sadly I do not think this
is going to happen, much as I would love to see it in a 13 episode season,
especially with the casting announcements made along with the info given out
    with them.

Of course its too early to tell until we see the episodes come out but the trends look disturbing. We’ll just have to wait and see. I don’t think the
producers/writers really care about the CUSTOMER as stated in one of your
previous posts although I think you are right about that all the way down the
line. They will put out what they want and the viewers will decide whether
they like it or not and that will be that. Seems a shame if it doesn’t work
out but this is something beyond the fans’ control and the controversy it
generates isn’t worth really worrying about. Either they will put out a show
the core base will support or they won’t-end of story.

Let’s just hope the episodes are worth watching when they finally come out,
early, late, or whatever. I’m tired of expending a lot of emotional energy on
a tv show with fictional characters played by actors, who in all probability,
have no emotional connections with the parts they play. To them it’s just a job and I think they would laugh themselves silly if they saw just a sample
of the posts on this and other websites. You would think the producers and
writers would, if only to get a feel for the audience and maybe some fresh ideas,
but I think they could care less. They think they can spike ratings by signing
up “NAMES” instead of developing characters and storylines and the announcements made so far about season 3 seem to bear this out. Well maybe it
will work and maybe it won’t.

The announcements almost seem to be mini episodes in themselves. Like everybody else I’ll watch, wait, and see, thanks.

    • I pretty much agree with most of your post regarding the Creative staff and the producers, regarding the actors…well, that’s something else.
I would bet that at least some of them feels pretty much connected in some manner to the characters they play or else they wouldn’t do it as good as they do(and they do quite good, actually if there’s one constant high in the show, it is the acting…certainly not the writing, nor the promotion), and bearing in mind that the most of them if not all of them are not stars that can play the part and wait for the next 20 million $ offer, I’d say they have to maintain a visible link to the roles they play and thus it keeps them on their toes(acting and emotion wise), so I’m sure the actors won’t laugh at all, the creative staff…well, that’s another story all together.
And like in any business, if the service provider ignores the CUSTOMER needs
he will pay with his business, and here you are quite right Robert !!!

      Alex

  11. Thanks Alex. You made a good point regarding the actors. Appreciate your post,
    thanks.

  12. I’m not sure which episode has me more excited – Angie Harmon going after Capt Awesome or the return of Catrina.

    Is it March Yet?
