UPDATED 11:55AM: See, this is why we didn’t post about it last week when the new site went live! NBC has already stated, via Mo Ryan of the Chicago Tribune, that the day and time are in error and the site is being corrected.
NBC’s revamped Chuck site went live late last week, with the curious scheduling headline that Chuck airs “Thursdays 7/8C”. Obviously the time is a typo, it should be 8/7C, but what about the day? Is Chuck coming back on Thursdays? We’re waiting for confirmation that the night isn’t another typo, but until then, how might Chuck do on a Thursday? It’s a crowded TV night – Survivor, FlashForward, Bones and The Vampire Diaries all air in that timeslot – but it’s also one of NBC’s strongest nights of scripted programming with their already successful (for NBC) comedy block. Chuck, The Office and 30 Rock would be a solid night of programming. That does leave Parks & Recreation and Community out in the cold, but perhaps they’re moving to a different night.

What do you think about Chuck airing on Thursday nights?

I would love for Chuck to move to Thursdays. For one I would not change the station all night, two this would be a vote of confidence for Chuck by the network. NBC would be considering Chuck to be a good lead in to 30 Rock. Yeah for NBC if they made the move.

It doesn’t matter when Chuck is on. I will just record it and watch when I want to. All that matters is that it comes on!!

Hi,
anything’s better than Friday or the weekend… however, I wouldn’t have too much confidence in this, if we already know part of it is incorrect (don’t forget that the NBC web site mentioned season 2′s finale as the “series finale”).
It would be odd to compete with FlashForward and Vampire Diaries — I would think a lot of Chuck fans watch those shows.

Chuck has to stand on it’s won two feet. The nettwork shouldn’t be coddling it anymore. If it airs on Monday it goes against House, If it airs on Tuesday or Wednesday it goes against Idol and Lost, if it airs on Thrusday it goes against Flash Forward.
Let’s see I will take flash forward and Vampire Diaries over House DWTS, Idol and Lost.
If Chuck cannot survive with a line up that includes 30 Rock, and the office then it belongs on Fridays or off the air.
Every night has tough programming, and it is time for Chuck to sink or swim on the merits of it’s own. No more excuses.

October 19, 2009
My friend, you are right. It’s either going to work, or it’s not, and we can’t keep making excuses. Whatever night (and whenever) it comes back, we’ll STILL have our work cut out for us – promoting the show as best as we can – and EATING SUBWAY as much as we can!
But I think this is going to be IT – sink or swim. If CHUCK – as much as WE all love it – can’t stay afloat on it’s own merits out in the shark infested land of network television, then it will come to an end. I hope, hope, hope not – but it’s make or break time!

Everybody loves the Office and 30 Rock which is great for it will mean new viewers will be introduced to Chuck which means a greater chance of a 4th season. It shows that NBC has confidence in CHUCK which is a wonderfully awesome thing and would be a good move on NBC’s part. Chuck has a greater chance against those other shows on Thursday with the same time slot (except for Bones, CHUCK may have trouble there and I’m not sure about Flashforward). At least CHUCK will no longer go against House, Dancing with Stars, and all those others shows on Monday at 8pm. Thursday=More Viewers which then leads to a CHUCK S4 which will than make me and my family and friends very VERY HAPPY PEOPLE.

Eek! Community is one of my favorite new shows this year! If it does move to Thursday, I hope they move Community and Parks instead. I can’t imagine putting it against Flash Forward, though! It seems like the two shows share a lot of the same audience.

Would be great though, if Chuck returns this month!

October 19, 2009
I think thursday would be OK i mean i love watching Bones but i think being a lead in to 30 rock and the office (which are probably NBCs strrongest shows) would help the ratings. i would hope they would move community though

October 19, 2009
I think the most important thing is that NBC wants to improve in the time slot rather than trying to win it. That’s what FOX is doing with their Bones/Fringe pairing on Thursdays. They just want to merely IMPROVE. If Chuck improves the 8pm slot, it will no doubt prove to be a better lead-in to The Office and 30 Rock.

October 19, 2009
I hope the day and time really are in error and that just isn’t the company line. Thursday @ 8pm would be a tough time slot. I would like to see it with The Office/30 Rock though.

October 19, 2009
Thursdays are tough, but Chuck’s current time slot is a lot tougher. House, DWTS, and HIMYM all get stronger ratings than the Thurs 8pm shows.

Agreed. I only said that because I like Flash Forward.

October 19, 2009
I would love it on either Thursday or Wednesday night at 8. Quite frankly, although I might be in the minority of Chuck fans, I have not been all that impressed by Bones this season. It used to be one of my favourites but ever since watching about 10 minutes of last season’s finale before switching the channel, I find I’m tired of it. I have only watched 2 episodes this season and would gladly change the channel for Chuck. I’m also not into the other shows mentioned. So bring Chuck on Thursdays at 8, Wednesdays at 8 or even Sundays at 4 AM and I will be watching. After all, I’m a chuckaholic. It’s been almost 24 hours since I watched an episode.

Sillystrings and Father Rick are correct. It IS time for Chuck to get pushed out of the nest. Don’t forget, we have parented the show for two years. We’ve made it stronger and better through our renew campaign. Have Faith! Whatever night it finally is established on, it will do well. We just have to keep the support level up. Thirsday would be great because of the other two shows that would directly follow. It would be the strongest Thursday line up since the Seinfeld days. Let’s have a VIVA BUYMORIA cheer and get going. Bring it, NBC. We’re ready!

October 19, 2009
I too think Chuck can stand alone but face it, if NBC intends on getting the college demographics they need to go to some day other than Monday. Monday night is recovery night from the weekend.
Thursday is a good day to use. I like the Thursday line-up with with Chuck added on. There is always TiVo or DVR’s so I don’t miss any show regardless of night.

I’m not from the states but i think thursday it’s not a good night for Chuck.
Survivor, Bones and Flashforward are pulling over 9 milion viewers and are all at 8.
The best night is the tuesday night or even better on friday night where the leading shows are Ghost Whisperer and Law&Order and i think Chuck can beat L&O.
JTMacc99
October 20, 2009
Thursday at 8:00 would be fine. WAY better than Monday at 8:00 against three much stronger shows AND a sinking NBC show following it at 9:00. Honestly, it’s the best, and possibly the only, slot for it to become the hit is should be. At the very least, it would give NBC one night of shows that the critics actually like and continually get good press.
The worst thing about this is the possibility of a poor promotional campaign, given that the post Olympics launch would have given the network (and Subway) plenty of time to build buzz.
Also interesting, there really isn’t any show on TV that has captured America’s attention (which will not be the case in March with LOST and AI in the middle of seasons), so Chuck has a chance to get a lot of good press right now.
Rick Holy
October 20, 2009
Good points all the way around.

October 20, 2009
I like Wednesdays at 8. The other shows are weak in that time slot and AI doesn’t air until later (early 2010). That would give Chuck time to gain an audience. They could also cross promote on Thursdays with the Office etc, Monday Night Football, and use the Olympics to keep the momentum.
NBC’s challenge is that they don’t have a lot of eyeballs watching their network so it will take some serious buzz on the part of the fans. I think we are up to the challenge!

Let’s just get on with it one way or another. ” Will it or won’t it ” sounds
so much like the old ” Will they or won’t they “. People are getting burned
out with the hype, teasing, and rumors.
NBC needs to make up their minds and execute a well, thought out plan. Put the
show in a time slot where it has a reasonable chance of succeeding, promote it
heavily, order the back nine with lots of publicity, have the cast appear on the talk shows, release the season 2 DVD ASAP, give the show a solid,
consistent run, and then let the chips fall where they may. Enough talk, enough rumors, enough teasing. People are tired of it. If the show can pull
at the very least, the ratings it had last year or improve them marginally, it
should get renewed. After all NBC can’t just cancel everything and will need a
good show to build around. If it is cancelled there’s a good chance cable or
another network may pick it up.
Hopefully NBC will make a firm, committed decision and move forward one way or
another. All of this wavering is sounding like a bad soap opera.

I would be in heaven. The Office and 30 Rock are two of my favorite shows, and if Chuck were there lead in, I would have two hours of awesomeness every Thursday night!! I would love this move. Parks & Rec is not up to par in my opinion, and Community is good, but a half hour could be found elsewhere for it. Chuck/Office/30 Rock in 2010!!
WhyJayLeno5NightsAWeek?
October 21, 2009
Thursday night would be great for Chuck just not the 7c/8e time slot. The buffoons at NBC need to take that jacko-lanterned faced, using the same old tired bits, only pulling in a 1.4 share, Jay Leno off the Thursday night 9c/10e time slot and put Chuck here instead. This used to be a major time slot on NBC for years especially for shows like ER which had a huge following.
Put Chuck on at 9c/10e and we will all watch the show for the next 10 years!
stargazer
October 21, 2009
I disagree on the 9/10 time slot. It’s too late for me; my young son goes to bed at 9:00 pm at the lastest, and he likes to watch Chuck with me. Chuck is a very family oriented show, kinda. lol

Gord
October 21, 2009
While I personally liked having it on Mondays, it is a killer time slot, and I would prefer to give Chuck every opportunity to succeed rather than base my opinion on my own personal preference.
I agree with Amy that Wed at 8 would be better in someways than Thursday, but I think Chuck could succeed in either slot.

I’m glad to hear Chuck will be back on the air. This is one of mine and my husband’s favorite shows. I think the perfect time would be 7/8 on Tuesday. There is absolutely nothing on, so maybe more people would come to love Chuck too.

Ausiello: The latest buzz points to a January or February return.
http://www.scifilog.com/node/27460
sigh
Gord
October 22, 2009
That doesn’t make any sense – Feb is when the Olympics are on, and why would you put the show on for 3 or 4 weeks in Jan then go on hiatus for a month?
If they are not going to bring it on within the next few weeks, then they should stick with their orignal plan and bring it on in March.
I still think they are missing a golden opportunity to have a show that will dominate the Wed at 8 timeslot.
Rick Holy
October 22, 2009
You’re right. January/February makes absolutely the LEAST amount of sense. Hopefully it’s erroneous speculative conjecture. But then again, it hasn’t been “good” decisions that have put NBC in the toilet bowl lately.
amyabn
October 22, 2009
Talk about a wasted opportunity! The buzz that was created around Ausiello’s reporting/rumor was huge. People were talking, tweeting, and posting on various news outlets like crazy. I also agree that January makes zero sense-stopping the show’s momentum for the Olympics is, well, NOT AWESOME. Indecision kills. Grrr.

Why couldn’t CHUCK have been picked up originally by a REAL network?
Gord
October 22, 2009
I recall a little show called JAG that started on NBC for a year, was cancelled and picked up by CBS, where it lasted I think about 8 seasons. Not entirely sure of the number of years, but it was quite a run.
I hope that if NBC drops the ball, someone else will run with it and make Chuck the success it deserves to be.
My impression of all these conflicting rumours is that no one at NBC is capable of making a decision or at least they are not capable of making a good decision.
Rick Holy

Ditto that, my friend. Someone named Wendy Farrington and a fast food restaurant chain gave NBC a gift. And they don’t know what the heck to do with it. Sad, really.
