The Live Feed’s James Hibberd talked with NBC President Angela Bromstad about the network’s recently announced new show pick ups, possible additional new shows, and the fate of Chuck. While she wouldn’t confirm or deny a fourth season, she did have some positive words about Chuck:
THR: You said “We have ‘Chuck’†when talking about Mondays. Can we put these fans out of their misery and just say it’s picked up?
Bromstad: It’s our highest-performing Monday night show. We look at it as a very strong player, and it’s a show that matches up with our new shows. It’s too early for me to say for certain as it’s a conversation we’re going to have next week.
Updated 10:50AM: Ausiello is now reporting that all signs point to renewal.
Geez….. Come on already. I think we Chuck Fans are a victim of our own success. All the Twittering, Facebooking, Chuck Mobs…. NBC is getting so much free publicity, the longer they wait to let us know Chuck is picked up for another season, the more publicity they get. That’s not a bad thing but REALLY annoying.
*doin’ the Chuck dance*
lol hope u don’t mind me joining u. 😉
Though still this does not mean we should all stop campaigning. This only means we must campaign harder then ever. Lets have the gang back for another season.
I’m thinking another Footlong Finale would not go amiss, whatever happens, as a “thank you” to Subway for Season 3. (Please don’t post about why you’re not grateful for Season 3. This is not the place for it.) 😉
Patience… i need more patience! I hope NBC gives us a reason to celebrate really soon.
C’mon NBC, show us and Chuck some love!
*looks at verkisto, grab a beer in one hand and the camcorder in the other* 😀
Ooh! Imagine the Chuck dance after a few beers! Add “up”? 😉
Get one buddy… lager or stout? take both, it’s better not to choose. 😉 I’ll get champaign and kiss* Angela if she makes the good choice!
*yep, I’m french so I know what is a real kiss!
And I’m half Belgian-half English Canadian, so I’ll take the stout. Or a lambic. Kisses negotiable. 😉
*still dancing*
Assuming Chuck is a lock, you can’t blame them for the strategy. Escalating fan angst = Free PR.
I agree w/Geeker. Thought a bit of that was happening last season with all the Subway hype. NBC was loving that. That said, I think they’re being kinda obnoxious making us wait like this…just say it already!! 😉
Yeah, it really does sound like a marketing ploy to take advantage of as much fan publicity as possible.
But that’s fine! Publicity is good. Especially publicity for Chuck. Keep campaigning harder than ever! We’ll get our fourth season, they’ll get more viewers and more attention (and so will Chuck), and everybody wins.
You can interpret it as exploitative, but I’d take it as symbiotic.
Keep watching Chuck Live 🙂
I’m crossing my fingers for Chuck and Undercovers back to back in an awesome spy night. Chuck could be a smart lead-in for the new show.
Take nothing for granted until an official announcement comes from NBC that says the show is renewed, and even then, don’t take anything for granted.
Watch Chuck LIVE tonight on NBC–and get everyone you know to watch it also. Then watch it again on Hulu tomorrow. Then download it from iTunes on Wednesday. Then order something from the online NBC Store on Thursday. Then, do the happy dance when it gets renewed.
Finally, after renewal, help me launch the “Get Betty White to guest star on Chuck as John Casey’s mom” campaign.
Casey’s gun-toting mom? Awesome! 😉
I have already launched a campaign. I’ve thought of getting Betty White on Chuck since S1. lol Maybe we should make a Facebook page for her to be on Chuck just like the one they did to get her on SNL (which by the way was great).
Indeed! Casey needs a lovin’ mom (with a loaded gun!)
She could be from Wyoming or Montana… a former bare hand bear hunter by example… Damned! ‘blew my chances to be hired by Ali Adler!! Need to be sober when working at some Chuck script! That’s all the fault of Verkisto’s Chuck dancing! 😀
I would love to see Betty White as John Casey’s mom, that would be ” Awsome “.
Sure I would prefer to have NBC announce that they have already renewed Chuck, but considering everything that has happened since season 1 (writer’s strike, fan renewal campaign last spring, the mid-season beginning for season 3, the winter Olympics, the lengthy angst-ridden nature of season 3) it shouldn’t surprise us that we are still waiting for the final word. All this just seems to be a small price to pay to have our “little show that could” as Mo Ryan likes to say.
I actually think it would be good for television if more fans were as passionate about their shows as Chuck fans are about Chuck.
I think that despite all the positive spins, “Chuck” is still very much “on the bubble” and still can go either way. They don’t want to say anything too negative because that will basically kill the ratings for the remaining episodes (and NBC is already losing Monday nights — NBC might be stupid but they’re not that stupid) but they also don’t want to be too positive because, if it does get canceled, they’ll look like fools…
So the forecast calls for more heartaches for the next six days, following by sunny skies or a torrential downpour…
NBC has made early announcements on 5 new scripted shows already. I think they’d be crazy to announce those only to anger a few million viewers by dropping Chuck (and/or Heroes) next week.
Besides, even with the new shows, plus Parenthood and Marriage Ref, there should still be an opening for Chuck due to Leno’s time slots, and the vacancies left by Trauma and Mercy if they’re canceled.
I’m nervous as anything, but things looks promising for Chuck.
