Chuck fan favorite, writer Ali Adler, has confirmed that she’s taken a job as a writer on the new ABC series No Ordinary Family for next season. It was a difficult decision, she said, and she loves everyone she worked with on Chuck.
We’ll miss you, Ali!

We’re getting dumped left and right! Lol. This is a tough one to lose. Ali has given us some many strong episodes. The other networks need to back off. Stop taking our CHUCK crew! :’(

No Ordinary Family was a show I wasn’t interested in until I found out Ali Adler is going to be a writer on it. Now it is a must see. She gave us great Chuck episodes. Judkins and LeFranc, please don’t go too.

She’s going off to “No Ordinary Family” which is really great news for “No Ordinary Family”. But in my drunken haze I realised that I didn’t ask a very important question which I’d like to ask now if it’s ok; Why couldn’t it have been the guy who wrote “the Mask”?

Phil Klemmer, who wrote the Mask, is my favorite writer on the staff and is responsible for some of the most unique and best Chuck episodes, including the Suburbs, Undercover Lover, and Tom Sawyer!

I did indeed love “the Suburbs”. Sorry about “the Mask” though, Phil.

As a huge Chuck fan I HOPE that we are losing so many creative showrunners because of their talent and chances for career advancement (MONEY!). As a realist(pessimist?), I think the creative people are abandoning a sinking ship.
I think Ali realized that NBC is never going to move their bubble show from the Monday night “wasteland” and got going while the going was good. I HOPE that CHUCK is on for 5 more years. I am 99.9% SURE that Ali, Scott, Matt, etc. knew exactly what they are doing.

I don’t think it was a matter of Ali “jumping ship” as you seem to infer. I think it was a wonderful opportunity to head up her own show, and she just couldn’t afford to pass it up. Kind of like a good assistant coach finally being offered a head coach job.

As ANB said below, they aren’t “jumping ship”, they’re taking advantage of opportunities that came their way thanks to their work on Chuck. This happens all the time, writers starting out as part of a group of writers a show then moving on to be head writers or even run or create their own show. It’s not a conspiracy, it’s the nature of the business.

I’ve always been an Ali Adler fan. All through the angst of season 3 my motto was “In Ali We Trust!” She got us through the hardest stretch of tv fandom I’ve ever watched through. Good luck, Ali. Wishes for only good things.
On the bright side, Scwartz and Fedak have a good eye for hiring writers and staff. The replacements will be fresh to the show and undoubtedly talented writers. One request to the new guys; NO MORE SHAW!!!!
And the biggest bright spot of all? We still have the great Tim Jones at the helm of the soundtrack.
I have a new motto; “NO MORE SHAW!!!” Bring on Season four.

Which episodes has she written besides “Three Words” and Fake Name”?

Season 1 eps were Chuck versus the Wookie and Chuck versus the Truth.
Season 2 eps were Chuck versus the Best Friend, the Cougars and the Broken Heart.
I looked these up on Wiki, don’t think I memorized this.
Good luck Ali.

I think if Fedak Schwartz are hiring new writers they will need to look for writers that are specialized in romance/romantic comedy/romance drama since that was Alis speciality

Why not moonlighting for Chuck? Come on Ali, we all know you love us.
More seriously , have fun and best of luck!

This is a great loss for the show; Ali was involved in some of the best episodes. The other writers need to step it up next season.

On the bright side, there’s now an open spot for a new writer — so here’s to hoping for more solid storylines.
Haven’t been a fan long enough to know if it’s Ms Adler’s doing or not, but the current writing is so wishy-washy — everything just resets after an episode or two the story never really goes anywhere. Ellie/Awesome in Africa? Oh wait, they’re back in Burbank because, yes, yet another Ring agent. And OMG, please get rid of Jeff and Lester: they make my skin crawl — usually can’t hit the FFwd button on the TiVo fast enough…

I will definitely miss Ali Adler’s creative abilities on Chuck but maybe it will give new writers Rafe Judkins and Lauren LeFranc more episodes to write. I have been really impressed with what they have done so far.

Smart move, Ali. No Ordinary Family is going to be the best new fall show, hands down.
