PREVIEW: “Chuck vs. the Balcony”

New year, new Chuck! After a 7-week hiatus for the holidays, Chuck is back with the first of 14 new episodes for season 4. With Volkoff plotting his next game of Charades for the Criminally Insane, Chuck, Sarah and Casey are free to pursue a mission in France. Will that include a side mission organized by Chuck and Morgan?

CHUCK PLANS A SECRET MISSION WHILE ON ANOTHER SECRET MISSION IN FRANCE — When an assignment brings him to a French vineyard, Chuck (Zachary Levi) juggles tracking down a nano-chip with trying to create the perfect romantic getaway for Sarah (Yvonne Strahovski). Back at the Buy More, Lester (Vik Sahay) comes to Big Mike (Mark Christopher Lawrence) for his own romantic problems. Joshua Gomez, Scott Krinsky, Bonita Friedericy and Adam Baldwin also star.

“Chuck vs. the Balcony” airs tonight at 8/7c on NBC. Need to while away the time? Get caught up by watching previous episodes at NBC.com, watch a sneak peek of this episode, and set a reminder to join our live chat below!

  2. Woo hoo, finlly i cant wait, a cure to the heavy chuck withdrawal symptoms i have been suffering, this episode looks awesome, especially ad chucks trying to find the perfect time to propose, but i dont think he will this episode, im starting to think the best 10mins of chuck ever at the end of ep13 is going to be the epic proposal which i cant wait.

  3. Chuck withdrawal symptoms is right! Both of the promos that I’ve seen make me grin uncontrollably.

Can’t wait to see Casey “man-serve” Chuck. I think he likes it.

    • Presumably except for the “chop chop” part.

      • Yeah I have to agree, I can watch that bit over and over again, “one more thing Jon Jon” chuck is deffinatly dicing with death by saying that lmao, can’t wait till tonight

  7. Very excited for Chuck to finally return. Also, I know some people are thinking this episode may contain a proposal. I’ve found some evidence that it may contain more planning for a proposal, but I’m not sure about an actual proposal. On the nbc.com main page it says that he is planning a secret proposal. On the Chuck site on nbc.com, it says he tries to create the perfect romantic moment to propose to her. Since they’re saying the last 10 minutes of episode 13 are the best ever, I think what may happen is: since the Balcony episode does take place in France (think about the end of the Other Guy), it would be a good proposal spot, so I think he may try to propose but something might happen that messes it up and therefore sets the stage for the 10 minutes of episode 13. Oh, I just thought of something else that would be good if it happened. I’ve always been disappointed that they blew the plan for the beach proposal. If Chuck does try to propose in the Balcony but something happens that messes it up, that would throw Sarah off Chuck’s trail, which would then enable him to still propose on the beach and surprise her. I would love to see that. Of course, he’s already kind of accidentally proposed and you don’t like to do the same thing twice so who knows.

  8. Excellent episode – and the next two episodes are shaping up to be EXTREMELY AWESOME. Something in my gut tells me that the showrunners were preparing for the possibility that episode 13 may have been the last episode of our beloved show EVER (perish the thought)! So I think there’s going to be two hours of Chuck-tastic entertainment coming our way these next two weeks.

Kudos to everyone associated with the show, especially Josh and Chris. You dealt with fan negative reaction and “took it on the chin,” but you’ve come back this season with – I believe – the BEST season of Chuck so far. Keep up the great work, and here’s hoping we can eek out a Season 5 – no matter how many (or few) episodes.

So, good people, RE-WATCH this fantastic episode on NBC.COM and HULU.COM and let them know how much we’re enjoying this great and unique show! CHUCK is another LOST in a way. When it does finally leave, it will be a looooong time – if ever – before we see the likes of it again. So ENJOY, ENJOY, ENJOY every episode!

  9. Oh my gosh!!!!!!!! That episode was crazzzzzy! I cried at the end…I knew that the proposal wasn’t gonna be that easy…but I hoped!!<3

  12. Wow! Loved last nights episode so glad that it is back on the air. The proposals or the trying to propose was hilarious and then with Sarah finding out about the plan and then taking control reminds me of 50% of all marriages the women only give us guys the thought it was our idea but in reality. Plus wouldn’t Morgan make a geat wedding planner he had it all set up “ear wig in left pocket ring in right” all done with out Chucks knowledge

  13. Mel,

Is this a tree part arc, or is this going to go till the end? Any insights
