Ausiello has another clue to Agent X’s identity in today’s Ask Ausiello column:
Question: Any clue as to who (or even what) Agent X is on Chuck? —Chris
Ausiello: It’s someone we know. How can I be sure? ‘Cause exec producer Chris Fedak told me so! Fedak also revealed that the Season 4 finale (airing May 16) is both “epic” and one of “the most expensive episodes.” The last scene also sets up a doozy of a fifth season. Now all we need is that pesky pickup from NBC!
On a sidenote, after watching the trailer for “Chuck vs. Agent X”, I emailed one of my sources at NBC to exclaim over it. Although they refused to give any clues about Agent X’s identity (coupled with an evil “mwahahaha”), the source revealed that this was a difficult episode to cut to promo because normally Ellie finding out would be the big deal, but that wasn’t even the biggest part of the episode. Once we see who’s behind that door, things just get crazier. Can’t wait!
My theory is almost confirmed, it mama b!!!!!! I swear!!!!!!!
That would be the most logical guess, but I’m not so sure. I can’t shake the feeling that Agent X is the last person we’d ever suspect…maybe someone we’ve always thought is clueless about the spy activities, but has actually known all along (much like Papa B turned out to be in “vs. the Dream Job”).
If it’s the last person we’d ever suspect, I think it would be Jeff, purely because of the Missile Command episode.
I think that Agent X is Papa B. Just think of the possibilities. If Papa B comes back, then Season 5 is a go. The main reason that I’m saying that is that all Season 5 would be the Bartowski’s versus the Volkoff’s and then in the last episode, Sarah having their baby & going off into the sunset just like Chuck’s first proposal in Chuck versus Phase 3. I know that I like that scenario…BIG TIME

I think if it turned out to be Mary, it would be a rather huge letdown after such a buildup.

Last person I’d ever expect to know about the spy world is Jeff/Lester/both Jeff and Lester. I mean, they’ve had clues dropped multiple times in the past (Orion’s laptop, Lester’s psychic “CIA” writing, following Shaw)…
Chris Fedak said at C2E2 that they would be the very, very last people to be part of the spy world. It would definitely change the whole dynamic of the show if they were anything but blundering fools. My money’s on Morgan, but I think that’d be weird too!
Fedak makes it sound like it’s Ellie. And after seeing the promo that’s what I’m leaning towards.
Morgan. Morgan will be Agent X.
That makes the most sense to me, and it would certainly set up an interesting season five.
I would think season 5 with Morgan as a super-spy would be very interesting. Morgan might actually be a dormant intersect since he was a kid and using the laptop activates it.
I like this a lot, but it would change the dynamic of Chuck’s friendship for the worst. Given that Morgan gave him endless crap for hiding secrets from him when he had the biggest one of his own.
Please i hope it’s not Morgan i cant imagine him fighting bad guys with high heal or a ladder , the guy is 5 foot tall lol,

It’s not Vivian her hair is too short, not Sarah, not Ellie because they’re in Burbank…..so who is it? Maybe mama b? And caseys expression when the door opened is fairly calm…hmm also it can’t be Morgan…Morgan is living with Casey not in the country! OMG I’m mad!!!!

It’s not Kathleen, in Chuck Vs. the Tic Tac we see that she lives in the suburbs or with other houses around her, the house Casey and Chuck visit is in the middle of nowhere.

i don’t it is mama b since she didn’t even know that agent x exists or heard about it, which is what she told gen. Beckman after she told her to let ellie mess with orion’s computer.
I came up with a theory awhile back. Unless I forgot something, I don’t think we’ve ever seen Riley and Volkoff talking to each other, so he could be lying about being his lawyer and is just manipulating Vivian. Riley could be Agent X.
…Or the person behind the door isn’t actually Agent X but is just involved somehow. My original thought was Chuck, and that would make it possible for him to be Agent X.

agreed, The person opening the door does not have to be Agent X. The scene could be near the beginning of the episode and not the end as in the preview.
OK, I’m answering everything this week as it being Jeff. He’s the one that is going to be tortured and he is Agent X.
Think about it, he’d be so dangerous if he hadn’t smoked/drank himself into a stupor. Plus he is older than anyone else save Mamma B. And, the synopsis doesn’t have any guest starts so I’m guessing it’s a regular.
Until you mentioned that the episode had no guest stars (except Riley),I was thinking that it was Tuttle.
I was thinking the same thing – that Timothy Dalton will play a double role and be Agent X. Maybe the reveal of Agent X is the final scene of the episode – Chuck and Casey knock on the door and it is opened by Tuttle cue closing credits. That ma y be the reason Dalton may not be listed as one of the guest stars.

Remember that young Chuck had input an Intersect(sort of) into his brain?
All Orion had to do was to give Chuck some brain scans
And concealed them into a file that only Ellie had access to.
If agent X is not Chuck, why would Orion even bother to lock the files on agent X?

In “the Helicopter” Chuck was established as “Patient X”, so we do indeed have precedent.
Or a coincidence like the name Tuttle on the side of a van that Team B once used.
After watching the promo, I don’t think Agent X is Chuck. It doesn’t make any sense for Agent X to be Chuck anyway. Its more pausible that Agent X is Orion & Mary’s partner much like Casey is to Chuck and Sarah.

Why the Agent X files scan and activate on Ellie, is interesting. Makes me think that Agent X files are a generic upload. Anyone could become agent X if they upload it. Possibly Orion wanted Ellie to become the NEXT Agent X.
Anyhow, we get to see the original Agent X next week. Can’t wait.
What about Shaw…

Yes it was the first time, but then we found out that Shaw was still alive, and in season 3 finale, they fought and finally Sarah knock him off, I believe Shaw is in prison right now!!

He may be a link to finding out who is. We know poppa B downloaded the intersect into himself, so did young Chuck, and Shaw has already had the intersect. Who else has been around long enough?
My theory is: he says “I’m not Agent X, you are” to Ellie.

I just re-watched early season 2, I reckon its Anna Wu, she is returning to the episode, and we already know she is bada** and if its someone we know, who would be more logical? I just hope Agent X wont be recurring, because I want Chuck to be the only intersect.
Well she did show off som crazy fightingskills in episode Chuck vs (dont remember the name) and since she is comming back this show it could be her. But I don’t think so really. I mean we don’t know Anna THAT well and Chris said it was going to be someone we knew. Plus that she has been gone from the show more than a whole season now and I think that they have left tiny clues within the latest episodes of who it could be which they will tie together in “chuck vs agent x”. And since Anna haven’t been in the latest episodes i doubt it’s her but still… It could be.
Anna is returning? When and where did you hear that? I had no idea.
Ellie would make sense and make it seem “epic”. It would complete the spy family. If it’s Jeff/Lester it kills the show. If it’s Mary, it’s too obvious. Morgan wouldn’t make sense. Kathleen isn’t important enough to the show to actually make it feel cool.
Mama B’s and Papa B’s partner would make sense as well, but it’s someone we apparently know so that wouldn’t work.
Volkoff’s Lawyer would be an awesome ending too.
Bryce Larkin? My first guess was Ellie but if she has the files in her head she should have flashed by now. Bryce makes more sense as he is in CIA, knows Papa B ahead of time and has the capability to take on the intersect.
I also have a feeling it’s Bryce.
But we all saw him bleed out to death. If for some crazy reason something/one revived him then it could be possible. Anyone know if he’s comming back?

If it IS Bryce, then that would explain what they said at the end, “The last scene also sets up a doozy of a fifth season.” Imagine, Bryce, Chuck, Sarah, Ellie, and Casey, and all 4 people hate Bryce. But it seems doubtful, it wouldn’t be very “epic” it would be kinda infuriating.
How come Sarah hates Bryce?
Well no we didn’t. After he “died”, the bad guys – followed up by Casey and Sarah – entered the room. Sarah screams “Bryce!” and then one of the bad guys pulls him out of the room. They could’ve revived him there (even if it doesn’t make sense why they would do that but still…).
The dragged him away, but then whose ashes were disposed of by Sarah in Spain?
Yes, I’m pretty sure Bryce is dead. Sarah said something to Shaw, I believe in First Class. What she said was something like “I went there to bury my former partner Bryce”.
Plus it’s almost 5 minutes from Bryce has his last words until his is pulled out of the room, and Chuck and Sarah both check for a pulse and there is nothing, so Bryce is Definitely dead now.
yeah but Matt Bomer has his own show now. I doubt he’d have time to make a long-term commitment back to Chuck…. but it would be totally epic if it were him. I love Bryce.
He’s probably too young to fit the timeline, but what about Devon? He’s good at everything, but when he got mixed up with the spies he seems clueless. Plus they’ve been setting it up with vhim being sneakier. He gives the Orion computer to Chuck when he needs to reupload the intersect. Then when he has the chance to take it away from Ellie he doesn’t but tells Chuck he did.
I agree with Todd here. I actually never thought it could be Devon but your arguments actually makes sense. He’s always done this sneaky stuff (as Todd mentioned above) that COULD mean he’s a spy but at the same time doesn’t have to mean anything at all!

2) He’s always so dang close to the spy action
a) he drugged Casey’s assailant in vs. The Beard
b) he helped Casey out in vs. The A Team
c) he has good surveillance skills. That’s something you train for yo.
d) he wrote “CIA” in a recent episode. HE KNOWS MAN.
3) He’s a Nerd Herder. It’s either you’re really frakkin weird, or you’re special (like Chuck)
Personally, I think it would be awesome. You’d have to look back at the entire 4 seasons and check where Jeff was.

I think you’re right — remember what Doc Brown said in Versus The Tooth – having the Intersect in your head will do serious damage. Chuck has the governor; Jeff doesn’t. Hence, why he acts like he’s fried.

Could be wrong, obviously, but I’m thinking Jeff!!! Just by the way his mind ‘works’.
I don’t know about y’all, but I get the feeling the season-ending scene is going to have Vivian Volkoff in-front of the laptop and downloading the intersect into herself. That would set up next season–Chuck’s intersect against hers.
As for who’s behind that door: It’s not someone who has died already like Bryce or Orion. I think it’s Mary. I think they show up at the house and she’s there, but then she gets kidnapped by Riley and his men. That sets up the next episode where Sarah and Chuck have to rescue her.
Agent X is Papa “B” He’s not dead, He had before escaped the exploding helicopter, what’s one bullet to the chest wearing body Kevlar.
Actually, Papa B/Orion has been busy defending OJ and trying cases.

this may be crazy, but i think its Hannah. Why? because i went on a tour of WB studios, and while i was there i saw Zach Levi infront of a house, and the tour guide said that it was Hannah’s. When else would they use that this season? if i’m right, i rule

If it was Mama B. it would be a bit of a letdown, Beckaman, cole, or another person who we’ve heard of, could be Agent X. Maybe chuck is Agent X and becomes AGENT X by accidentally seeing files which Ellie backed up.

It might be Jill. We haven’t seen her in a while, she was computer saavy, went to college with chuck, (could’ve planned the planting of chuck’s intersect as the second part of the project, hmmm?), and is freakin awesome. I don’t know why everyone hates Jill, I saw what happened, so she betrayed chuck, whatever! I don’t care! Anyway, I think Agent X actually is the first human intersect because Vivian said that her father always only had one enemy, an Agent X, who she would find and kill. That means Agent X is definately not chuck, because Alexei didn’t even know of chuck’s existence until mid-season 4. Now that we know that chuck is NOT the first intersect, I think that puts two and two together; He can’t be Agent X.
It’s either Jill, Bryce, Harry Tang, Volkoff, or the one I’m pulling for, which is Hannah. I don’t think Bryce is dead, but Orion is, there’s no way he’s alive. so it could be Bryce, but Hannah is the person we’d least expect, so it might be her. Volkoff is old enough, and we haven’t heard from Harry in like a millenium. It would be funny if ikt was Laszlo.

I know it won’t be him, but I keep saying John Larocquette makes perfect sense. Who knows if young Chuck was the first to get the upload? Maybe it was all set up to go because somebody else had just gotten it. Larocquette would have been the right age at the time to be the government’s top spy.

At the end of Family Volkoff, Vivian stated that Agent X is a man.
Also, it would benefit the show if it wasn’t her. She has enough secrets and drama of her own. Besides, if it was her secret, why would she share the information with General Beckman?
My theory? I believe Agent X is Cole Barker.
He was working on behalf of the British government, but he could have done rogue operations. He was quite the agent and it wouldn’t surprise me if he was connected with Orion in some way or another. Which if he was Agent X it would be that connection. As the computer files indicated, Agent X has a unique physique which has not yet been determined how exactly, but how many times did Cole get shot when working with Chuck? Twice. Oh, and he survived both times. He escaped torture and quickly killed nine men in doing so. It seems certainly suspicious to me!
What about harry tang…. he knew his wife was cheating… intersect skills baby…lol
If it’s somebody we already know, and it has to be someone that wouldn’t shake up the foundation of the show e.g. (Morgan, Sarah, Ellie) so im going to go all in on Agent X being Mama B.

The only thing that makes sense looking at the 4.23 summary is Momma B. Why else would she have to be saved. There’s no way a big revelation like this will happen in this episode without being vaguely referenced in the next episode’s summary.
My take is it is Awesome. In the DVD special segments for Season 1, they said that the Awesome character was originally going to be a bad guy…but that he proved too popular. How great would it be if he were a sleeper agent hiding from the CIA? Masybe why he decides not to switch the hard drives in the computer, and he allows Ellie to activate the program and learn his secret.

Would someone please explain to me what Jeffs Missile Command skills has anything to do with being a spy. It’s just a game. (Which shows a secret code if you complete it, i know but still)
My bet’s on Alex, although it wouldn’t change the show drastically if she was Agent X.
1) She’s Casey’s daughter. There has to be more to that.
2) We know her pretty well.
3) She knows karate.
4) We haven’t seen where she lives yet, so that door may well be hers.

For the longest time, my money was on ellie as agent x. Bartowski brain, can handle an intersec no problem. my backup was mama b. Was really hoping it was vivian, because chuck needs a real nemesis. Bryce larkin didn’t count. (So much) money is on ellie.
For sheer comedy, I am hoping it is Roan Montgomery.
