Ratings News: Agent X Reveal Nabs More Viewers

Agent X is who??!! What a spectacular episode of Chuck last night! I’m still giddy this morning, and the ratings news adds to my silliness.

Chuck vs. Agent X was up 8% from two weeks ago, showing 1.4 in the adults 18 – 49 demo. That 8% seems to be the magic number of the evening with other shows across the board for that time slot. Except for House, which dropped 9%. Maybe they’re curious about all the excitement created by fans? Let’s go with that!

Reminder: Head over to RewardTV.com and complete the Chuck game/survey to be counted by Nielsen as a viewer last night. Also check out the renewal campaign activities here and help get a season 5.

  1. Im a little bit gutted. I havent had a chance to watch last nights episode yet, and due to flicking through some articles on other sites that didnt give spoiler warnings i now know before watching 🙁

  2. So glad to see that the ratings improved a bit. The end of this episode was very intriguing. So glad that they are keeping Volkoff in the story line……means more of Timothy Dalton. I would absolutely love it if his character changed back to more of the Tuttle personality.
On a side note…..I did the Reward TV survey for this episode and some of the questions were a bit confusing because they got Sarah and Ellie mixed up. I figured out who they meant after reading the questions a few times. I’m pretty sure, no darn sure, that Ellie was the one working on Orion’s computer, not Sarah.

    • Ya, the Reward TV questions always confuses me. They ask questions about commercials I’ve never seen, even though I make sure to pay attention, and I watch enough TV that the ones I have seen have already subliminally seeped into my brain. And I think once they called Casey “Katie.”

  3. Good the twitter campaign seems to be working. Now if only I could nab so Chuck fan on my channel. I just haven’t had time to make any reviews or over views for Chuck like i did with S3. But you can bet, IF Chuck makes it to Season 5. I will do more Chuck Stuff. No spoilers but the Twist at the end seemed to tie the even the filler stuff in. Season 4 is right up there with Season 2 for me. Love this SHOW! Can’t wait for the next episode.

Question Mel, are we getting a 2hr season finale like last yr? Or they splitting it?

  4. How are this episode`s rattings better? On tvedge i read that:
    Season 4 Episode 21
Title: Chuck vs. The Wedding Planner Airdate: TBD Viewers: 4.2 Million

    Season 4 Episode 22
Title: Chuck vs. Agent X Airdate: 2/05/2011 Viewers: 4.12 Million

It looks like last episode`s ratings were better, right?

    • The total number of viewers were higher for 4.21, but the demo rating (number of viewers between the ages of 18-49) was higher for 4.22 which is what matters most.

  5. This is my first post. Like everyone else here, I’m a huge Chuck fan and have been since the beginning. I’ve always been concerned about renewal, but am more so now, so I’m looking for some realisticly positive signs. Can I feel safe in assuming that NBC will be interested in renewing Chuck because of the combination that (a) it is an inexpensive show to make, (b) the Twitter campaign is making advertisers interested in sponsoring the show, (c) Chuck is close to the magical 100 episode number for syndication and (d) though Chuck’s ratings are low, they are consistent and relatively on par with many other NBC shows? Do I have much cause to hope for/expect a Season 5 renewal? What exactly did Josh Schwartz mean when he said the Twitter campaign is working? Any specifics?

    • You are correct that those are all positives in the argument to renew Chuck. Schwartz didn’t elaborate on what he meant by “it’s working”, but at the very least we can assume that TPTB at NBC are noticing the positive response from advertisers.

  6. guys lets lay it on the line for chuck
get your friends into chuck send them a link to episode 1 and then get them to buy watch and sell chuck to others
we need to do this for zac if anything he deserves to get better wages lets make it to season 6 get your friends involved

    • I don’t want to rain on your parade, but just to be realistic, it hasn’t helped much to simply get others to watch the show and it probably won’t help much in the future because unless you have one of those precious Nielsen boxes, your view doesn’t count. As far as selling it and buying it, I’m not sure how much that will help. This is why I’m really liking the twitter campaign. It’s a great idea because tells the advertisers that people are watching even though they don’t see that reflected in the demo rating.

  7. I can`t believe that CW already renewed 90210 and Gossip girl while their ratings are bad! For both 0.7 in the adults 18-49 demo and 1.5 viewers. How is that possible? Chuck has way better ratings and still on the bubble. I hate NBC!
