Friday Five: Summer Movies That Could Be Chuck Episodes

Chuck isn’t headed to the big screen (yet), but what if the big screen were headed to Chuck? Summertime is when the “popcorn” movies take over the box office, and I started thinking how appropriate some of these big budget flicks would be as episodes of Chuck. Here are my picks for movies coming out this summer that, with a little recasting, could be another installment of Chuck.

  1. X-Men: First Class – “Mutants” learning how to use their abilities for good while hiding them from the rest of the world? A guy with a computer in his brain would fit right in!
  2. Horrible Bosses – Harry Tang returns to manage the Buy More, and Chuck has to work for him or blow his cover. Jeff & Lester try to hire guys from Large Mart to take him out.
  3. Transformers 3: Dark of the Moon – We’ve seen Sarah handle some impressive vehicles, and Casey sure knows his way around machinery, let’s see how they do up against giant alien robots. Think a porno virus will take them down? Maybe a juice box?
  4. Spy Kids 4: All the Time in the World – I don’t actually know what the plot is for this, but can’t you see Chuck and Sarah’s kids going on missions and saving Mom & Dad?
  5. Captain America: The First Avenger – After being deemed unfit for military service, Chuck Bartowski volunteers for a top secret research project that turns him into Captain America, a superhero dedicated to defending America’s ideals. (All I had to do was change the character’s name on this one.)

I tried to make Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows fit here, but it is an entity unto itself.

  1. Larry Crowne – Due to new government regulations, Casey has to have a college diploma or lose his commission. Along the way, he has to deal with campus hippies, social networking and that lovely professor who shows more than a pedantic interest in him. Oh, and he’s also under the guidance and eye of his daughter Alex, who’s there to complete a Masters degree in criminology. Can dad pass with class? Can dad pass without tranquing anybody?

    • Even though the idea is a fun one. . .The Col. wears a class ring resembling United States Naval Academy; therefore he would already have the degree needed for being a commissioned officer.

  2. Tears…from laughing so hard!! Wonderful, these are great.

  3. The only one I see actually working it Horrible Bosses, tho Spy Kids would work I guess if there was a huge time jump between season, lol.

  4. there was a spy kids 3?

  5. Genius I say! Mel your imagination never ceases to astound and amuse me.

  6. 5 No, no! CASEY = Captain America 🙂

  7. Well, speaking of Transformers: Dark of the Moon, for those of you who haven’t seen it, Scott Krinsky (Jeff) and Jesse Heiman (Fernando) are both in it, in the same scene. Scott even has a couple lines. And Tony Todd (Langston Graham) was the voice of the Fallen in Transformers 2.

BTW, Transformers 3 was truly awesome!

I saw!! when I saw Fernando I immediately thought of that video someone did about him always being the random background character in like every show. And all he did in this one was stare, so it was perfect! But I got excited when Jeff had lines, and earlier, when Yvonne’s movie “killer elite” had a trailer!

  8. I’ve got to watch these movies!~~haha!~~

  9. Chuck vs. The Moon. Any thoughts? = )

  10. I suppose there would have to be a a lot of recasting for Cars 2, but its plot is basically a spy movie. 🙂

  11. You know, funny you mentioned this because I said that Transformers 3 reminded me a lot of Chuck, even without the Scott Krinsky/Jesse Heiman cameos!

  12. Love the Spy Kids 3 idea! can’t wait to see Chuck and Sarah’s kids…

  13. This is kinda of reversed from the topic but I think that the Matrix Trilogy and Chuck have a good deal of similarities minus the comedy factor. Neil-Chuck both two guys who are special and have super power of sorts. Trinity-Sarah two awesome women who will do anything to save there man… 🙂 and that geeky/nerdy aspect is present too. sorry just something I have been thinking about.
