SpoilerTV has a photo of Sarah and her Mom from episode 5.08, “Chuck vs. the Baby”, that certainly does throw a wrench in what I thought their relationship was like. Don’t they look close? I mean emotionally, not just physically. Could the “strained relationship” have been a cover, or are we seeing the reconciliation?
Updated: Looks like they got this from TV Guide, which has some more info on the episode via a quote from Chris Fedak.
“Sarah and her mother share a mystery that has forced them to be apart,” says exec producer Chris Fedak. “After this, you will know Sarah as a different character.”
Expect Chuck and Sarah to discuss baby making and suffer a great loss just before the two-hour January 27 finale, which features the return of Chuck’s mom, a private jet, a grand concert-hall sequence and visits to the French Riviera and Berlin.
I’m guessing reconciliation. It’s present day based on Sarah’s hair.

So i wonder why is their relationship being a cover too? Is anything in Sarah’s life other then a cover? Other then Chuck i mean. Sometimes i think the writers when they started the concept of Sarah Walker went too fast and furious with her character and then of course it was too late to go back, i mean unfortunately for all the other characters in the series, she’s by far the most loved, epic, interesting and emotionally stunted. Well i guess we’ll see what really happened between mother and daughter.
I am not sure how you got that Sarahs relationship with her mother is a cover as that is not what is alluded to in the article. Unless you think that she is not her mother and that this is all a lie, I dont understand
Ok, like u said it’s not the photo I was expection when a pictured Sarah and her mom. The look really cute. Part of me really can’t wait to see this episode..

Well Mel, I agree that this is a bit unexpected, but I think the “strained” was more than cover (she didn’t appear to invite her to the wedding after all, and there has to be something going on for a woman to not invite her mother to her wedding), so my vote is for reconciliation.
We know for certain that thing between Sarah’s mom and dad soured VERY soon after they were married. Seeing that her father seemed to play more of a role in Sarah’s childhood (at least from what we’ve seen) I wonder if part of it is that Sarah got caught in the middle between the two.
For that matter, I wonder if we’re going to learn for certain if Sarah mentioning having a sister was just a cover, or if she really does have one….

Chuck and Sarah are babysitting Baby Clara — Sarah is starting to consider becoming a mother – Mama Walker has probably given her the peep talk she need to help her realise this. Mama Walker must also approve of Chuck hence why Sarah looks happy. We also may findout Sarah’s real name through her mother. Mama Walker may have encouraged Sarah to bare her sole to Chuck because Mama Walker realises – like Sarah’s dad did How good Chuck is for her.
Looks like a good Episode
Such a sweet looking moment. The potential is shaping up to be the greatest season of Chuck, on par with S2, in my opinion. All aired episodes are well above average to great and chock full of elemental goodness. The storytelling has been fearless. Props to Fedak.

A Charah baby would be welcome perhaps a boy since Clara is a girl and a male Bartowski would be nice to see.
Perhaps the baby would be the heir to the Bartowski legacy.
I agree that the photo looks like they are very comfortable withe each other. I think that they are looking at Chuck doing something adorable, probably playing with Clara. Sarah sees it and I think she is definately considering her future. Her mum sees it and she sees how happy her Daughter is.
In my opinion the secret is that Her mum owns a nationwide restaraunt chain as aluded to in Vs Balcony and so therfore Sarah is rich in her own right. When her parents seperated she rebelled against her mother and went off with her father.
I really hope that this show is not going to do something like Sarah losing a preganancy as Tv shows rarely show it honestly.
AH! I can’t wait for this episode! I would really love it if Chuck and Sarah are babysitting Clara, that would be adorable!! It kind of looks like Sarah and her mother is watching something cute (maybe Clara!) in the picture. Fingers crossed!!
Somehow I fear this episode with all secret baby talk but maybe I would be surprised 😉
