Remember when Chris Fedak declined to reveal the title of Chuck episode 5.12? The penultimate episode of the series, he said the title was a spoiler that he wasn’t ready to share. Get your speculative juices flowing, Chucksters, because after Zap2It posted a title in their TV guide earlier today, we confirmed with Fedak that it is legit. The title of Chuck episode 5.12 is:
“Chuck vs. Sarah”

If I’m not mistaken, this final season is supposed to be a “thank you” to the fans so I can’t imagine they would do anything in the series finale that would leave the fans hanging or upset. With that being said, I’m sure there is some sort of spin on Chuck vs Sarah – I just can’t think of what it could be.

We see Sarah in the next episode, the series finale, so I wouldn’t worry about her “not making it”. And who said anything about a fight?
well the title is chuck VS sarah so i assumed a fight. and i think chuck vs the goodbye is just a what happened to the characters episode and what happened after episode 12.
Not every versus = fight. It’s simply a problem to be resolved. Chuck versus the baby wasn’t an actual fight with a baby was it? That would be silly.
The synopsis for the previous episode (5.11) says “Meanwhile, the mission leaves Casey with an impossible decision.”
Maybe the decision is “Chuck or Sarah”?

Looking forward to this. I’m as confident that the ‘vs Sarah’ isn’t a bad sort of thing, but maybe.. a choice by Casey.. as I was confident in the whole baby situation. Looking forward to this, though that means.. I’m looking forward to the series ending, which I am not 🙁

There was also a comment in TV Guide about Chuck and Sarah suffering a great loss just before the two-hour January 27 finale. Maybe that factors in.

I don’t see why you’re so quick to rule out a miscarriage on this show.
‘Chuck’ has gone dark before, I wouldn’t completely rule out at least a possibility.
I don’t think it would fit “Chuck”, but who knows… the writers might feel bold since the show is ending and they don’t have to care about angering the viewers anymore.
If we learn Sarah is pregnant in the next episode or the one after it, I’m pretty convinced “the loss” can only refer to one thing.
I agree it is a miscarriage. However, in the cast goodbye videos I saw a small girl. Is it a grownup Clara or a Chara baby. What do you think Mel.
I believe that girl is the one who originally played baby Clara in season 4.
I hope I’m wrong about the miscarriage, but it seems like a stupid thing they might do now that they don’t have to worry about long-term consequences.

Sarah is ready to start a family, but Chuck isn’t (only valid if Sarah is not pregnant yet; e.g. ep.5.09)?
Keep calm everyone; titles can be misleading; just think about Chuck vs. The Baby…it didn’t mean that Chuck would have problems with a baby, just that a baby was the main topic of the episode. So Chuck will have to face a situation that involves Sarah. Like Mel said, it doesn’t mean that they will be fighting!

Don’t know what it means. They finally appear to be one the same page after Baby, with Sarah’s family almost completing the puzzle. There is potentially only one piece left to the puzzle….the Bartowski child …spy royalty. It will be awesomely sad whatever it means because it’s the end.

actually i think thats a pretty good thought or they’re in a little bit of a situation about sarah being pregnant and they have different point of views about it but this wouldnt fit the point with suffering a great loss, i still dont know how to take this^^
it seems like a good idea but where would the conflict or continuous story throughout the episode be? I mean its not like you can write a whole episode around whether their kid is a girl or boy.

this season is very different to the other seasons in the sense that season 1,2,3 and 4 was about taking down an evil organization, now it’s a totally different storyline so who knows what the writers have in show.
All I know is that I hope there is a Weinerliscious scene sometime before the end….I am rewatching the whole series and I miss it….
I think it’s Chuck wants to go into the CIA and Sarah doesn’t…he kinda stalled on saying OK…but that’s just my theory…
TOTALLY AGREE on the Weinerlisious thing. Maybe the CIA has new spies frying hot dogs and keeping watch from across the mall on a new recruit…maybe a nerdherder. I think i saw photos of the Weinerlisious set last month, but i dont know…
but that is very much the same as in the beginning of season 3. sarah was ready to leave the spy life and chuck wasn’t. idk if they’ll do it again.

I have watched this show faithfully for 5yrs & wanted 2 things:
1 For Chuck & Sarah to get together.
2 Once Chuck & Sarah got together, for them to stay together & to be together & Happy together when the show ended

Don’t mess with that Give the fans who have stayed loyal to this show, the Happy Ending for this great TV couple, that many of us fans who have Loved this relationship & wanted to see it happen, want.
Speaking only for myself, it will ruin the show for me, if Chuck & Sarah’s Loving marriage, is somehow messed with to end the show.

If you’ve been watching this show from the beginning, then you know that it will have a happy ending. And a happy ending means Chuck and Sarah together, happy with their extended family. Fear not, BMB.

We’ll still have the final Big Bad to contend with in this episode, so I’m thinking something along the lines of Gift of the Magi. You know, the story where the man sells his watch to buy his wife a hair comb and the wife sells her hair to buy her husband a watch chain? I’m betting Chuck and Sarah each try to sacrifice themselves for the other one to defeat this Nicholas dude once and for all.

The only thing I can ascertain from this spoiler is that this will be another episode focused on Sarah…perhaps not on her backstory, but at least Chuck will be focused on some aspect of Sarah.
Could be Chuck trying to make sure Sarah gets the happy life she wants and deserves…could be Chuck sacrificing his life’s desires for Sarah’s, etc…

Chuck and Sarah are too happy together to have a fight. Even in …vs the Baby, Sarah and Chuck take down Ryker together… I’m going to say this episode is about Chuck trying to give Sarah the life she’s always wanted
The big loss could be Carmichael industries, or maybe the buymore. Just becuase they say it’s a loss doesn’t always mean it’s going to be about their relationship. Open minds people! It will be a good ending.
Maybe it has something to do with Sarah finally getting her dream home and her and chuck moving forward as more of a “normal” couple?
Or maybe an episode opposite of phase three being chuck has to save sarah?
I really have no idea….I’m really excited to see this episode but also hating that it is so close to the end

Maybe Chuck gets the chance to get The Intersect back, and while Chuck is really tempted, Sarah doesn’t want him to get it back, bcuz it will interfere with their new life, but Chuck still tries to get it back against her wishes…
That would actually be a very good idea. I hope is the same as with the baby that my fears shows to be wrong.
I think by “vs Sarah” Chuck will come full circle and wants a family and a return to a normal life.
Sarah isn’t sure she is totally ready for that. Gertrude nailed it in “vs the Hack Off”. What will Sarah’s job be, will she be bored without missions, can she she stop herself from judo chopping idiot PTA members, etc. These questions will keep Sarah from agreeing to quit the spy life.
I think this will be the “conflict” in Chuck vs Sarah. Continue the spy life or quit.
I disagree, “the Baby” showed Sarah is totally ready for normal life.
They won’t start flip-flopping on this issue, as it would be just bad writing.

I think you’re right chuckster. The conflict may come from their efforts to decide what they want to do with their lives going forward. They still have a gazillion dollars worth of assets that they own. It puzzles my why they can’t leverage those assets now to buy a home.

It’s probably called Chuck Vs. Sarah primarily because that is about the ONLY great title they haven’t used. I am not even sure the conflict in the episode (of which I assume there is some on some matter) would normally elevate it to title level.
But Chuck Versus Sarah probably had to be used ONCE before they went, so…
PS: My WAG: Someone has to download the Intersect again and Chuck and Sarah, as per Mel’s Gift of the Magi idea, each want to do it to protect the other…
One idea is that Sarah´s pregnant and Chuck wants her out of missions and she didn´t agree.
I think people are being much too literal in thinking Chuck and Sarah have to be at odds. “Chuck vs The Angel de la Muerte” didn’t involve Chuck being at odds with Casey. “Chuck vs the Baby” didn’t involve him being at odds with a baby.
It means the Chuck/Sarah relationship will be important, sure, but it doesn’t mean it has to be a fight.
Guess I should’ve read this before I replied to Nick. The versus is hardly ever an actual fight but more of a theme of the episode. I think it’s about the intersect. It has to be revisited before the end of the series.

Really no need to worry, the show will go out with a very happy ending and a lot of tears from us CHUCK-a-holics.
Maybe the final baddie pulls the ultimate revenge on Chuck and puts an intersect into Sarah that will destroy her and causes her to go against Chuck, as did Morgan’s intersect, and Chuck has to outwit her, save her and de-intersect her, indeed – he must destroy the possibility of any intersect forever…thus the title.
That’s actually a pretty nice theory.
That being said, as many people have pointed out “Chuck vs. Sarah” doesn’t have to mean they’re in conflict with each other… just look at all the other “Chuck vs X” episodes we’ve had for examples.
That’s it… or something like that. I’ve watched this show for 5 years and what is going to happen is Sarah is gonna get the intersect at the end of …the Bullet Train, and then she’s going to go against Chuck. They do that sort of thing all the time, and it’s part of what makes this show so great. They’ll give us a twist at the end of Bullet Train and then Chuck will have to save Sarah which will cause them to go out of the spy biz once and for all

I think Chuck and Sarah are going to get captured by Quinn at the end of Buillet Train and the episode will Chuck and Sarah’s different perspectives about the future!!
Here is what I think the title refers to:
Three possibities:
1. The fact that Sarah is pregent and how she an Chuck deal with it.
2. Weather they stay in the Spy game or not.
3. Chuck and Sarah being prepared to scarefice themselves for the other.
Chuck vs Sarah is the final act in terms of them becoming whole as a couple –
vs Curse was Chuck trying to go it alone.
vs Baby was Sarah trying to go it alone.
VS Sarah is them realising that they need each other and that they are a team in more ways than one and how they effect people around them

I hope it is Chuck getting the intersect back.
My personal belief is that he won’t get it back… because the show is wrapping up and it looks to me like the writers are guiding Chuck and Sarah towards “normal” life.
Plus, Chuck is pretty awesome without the intersect, he doesn’t really need it.
Still… the intersect has been a major plot point throughout the series, and it will most likely still be important somehow. And remember, Decker wanted Chuck to have the “bad intersect”, maybe that’s still something the bad guys are trying to do for whatever reason.

After thinking this over and over I’m leaning towards Chuck vs Sarah being a reference to Sarah being pregnant and actually having a baby. This could be a very light hearted, comedic and emotional episode, which would fit nicely into the happy ending that I think many are expecting.
Maybe the big lose is the Buy More and Carmichael Industries? If they are going to kill off a main character it seems like Casey would make the most sense. I hope the lose isn’t an actual person though.

Sarah getting the intersect! Imagine SuperSarah and Chuck has to get the Intersect out of her head, that would be fun.
I learned my lesson about overreacting and not jumping to conclusions. This is Chuck their going to be twist but it not going to go all dark and stuff like Shameless and stuff. It will end on a good note. Chuck and Sarah will have a happy ending. So not reason to get all worked up about it. Dont fall for what people say. Trust me i know by experience.

Perhaps Sarah is pregnant Chuck wants the baby and Sarah wants an abortion–but then what do I know–I though the baby was going to be a little Bryce Larkin.
There are 2 things I’m sure we’ll never see on Chuck: miscarriage or abortion. It’s just not that kind of show.

I have another idea regards Chuck vs Sarah – Maybe @ the end of vs Bulliet Train they realise like Papa B did that they have to go on the LAM because the baddie is too big! They decided to “Kill” off the Bartowski’s & when looking for cover identies Sarah tells Chuck her real name as cover name. The characters will have literally come full circle i.e. they have reversed roles. If Sarah is pregnet they may decide to call the child Sarah if its a girl & Chuck if its a boy.

here are my two cents I’d like to add: Since the writers did kill Decker (good decission in my point of view, his character was badly written and played) and Shaw’s locked in again, this will be the first season finale that does not focus on bringing down the big bad villan.
instead of that, the remaining five episodes will have some “villans of the week”. Now what the writers can not do is that they’ll have Chuck and Sarah defeating those guys and then end the show.
This wouldn’t be an ending AT ALL. There hase to be a Climax of some sort and eventually there has to be closure. … AND Chuck is the show with the happy endings …. it always has been… so be confident. The show will have a happy ending in the end. Guarantied.
So what’s Chuck vs. Sarah got to mean? Simple. Sarah does not want to be Sarah Walker anymore. She wants to be Sam again. She wants to settle down with Chuck (for real) and have a baby.
But why wouldn’t Chuck want the same? Simple. in order to stop a big badass he might be reintersected… and the finale will be about his decission. Will he give up that ring of Power?

How about mind control? It wouldn’t be out of Chuck’s realm of spy non-realism, and nothing would make a bad guy worse than convincing your [pregnant] wife to fight against you.
Hi! Anyone from Brazil? Now the subject: I think this title refers to “the big plan” to destroy Chuck, Sarah has to break up with Chuck to protect him. So, she will pretend that everything they had was a lie and of course he won’t believe in her.
I really do hope that Chuck has a happy ending. I would really be pissed off if they didn’t after all they have been leading us to a happy ending since the very first episode. I really disagree with Sarah telling Chuck it was all fake to “save him” after all they have been through together Sarah would never do anything like that to Chuck. The show has to end with Chuck and Sarah living a normal life in a normal house with a child of there own. It also has to show Morgan finally becoming an adult and maybe marrying Alex and moving in next to Chuck and Sarah. As for Casey he has to also leave the spy life maybe starting a new life with Verbanski . As for Ellie and Awesome they also move into a house next to Chuck and Sarah so that they can have there children grow up with a loving family around them. Maybe have the series end showing Chuck and Sarah being “normal” a few years in the future, something like Sarah and Chuck driving there kids to soccer practice and smiling at one another knowing they made the right decision.
I’ve only managed to skim all of these comments. I’m in Aus, so I only know everything up to Season Three, but Youtube comes in handy. I saw a promo for Chuck vs the Kept Man, and ironically, when I typed in “Sarah from Chuck pregnant” into Google, I stumbled across this. I’ve been on this site before, and I really love it!
To the convosation, I think Chuck vs Sarah – if Sarah is pregnant that is – is Sarah giving birth? There is a lot of time jumps between episodes, so it could be possible. Comments?
We don’t even know yet for sure if she’s going to get pregnant.
There aren’t that many episodes left, so it’s pretty unlikely that we’re ever going to see a Chuck/Sarah baby.. unless there’s a time-jump epilogue of some kind in the final episode.

Sarah wants to quit spy life – and Sarah is the fake Name she chose for that life – and Chuck has to deal with that.. btw. as someone mentioned above: In many many episodes, the “vs.” stands rather for “dealing with” than “fighting against” (Chuck vs. the Santa Suit, Chuck vs. the Nacho Sampler, Chuck vs. the Fake Name)

I’m German – and I don’t even know if Chuck ever was on German TV (a friend told me a few years ago Chuck might be on TV soon, but I never saw it there)..still – I’m pretty much up to date – and therefore I don’t need Youtube. There are sites where you can watch entire episodes, sometimes in HD…. I know that every government has it’s own atitude towards online streaming and I don’t know the situation in Australia. As for Germany it’s “half legal” …and as long as nobody says it’s really illegal, I’m ok with that…. and Chuck’s worth it
Sarah is now Sarah for all intents and purposes. I can pretty much guarantee she’s not going to change her name.
I personally think that the loss is the buy more, because in the promo pics for season 5, the buy more is blowing up in the background
Maybe it’s called Chuck vs Sarah because Sarah is pregnant and very hormonal and all that stuff and they have different disagreements like if Sarah should be on missions etc. 🙂 Just a thought! 🙂
