SPOILERS: Official Synopses for the FINAL Episodes of Chuck

And then there were two… NBC has released the official descriptions for Chuck‘s final two episodes. Both will air Friday, January 27, beginning at 8/7c.

Episode 5.12 “Chuck vs. Sarah”

SARAH MUST KEEP A SECRET FROM CHUCK IN ORDER TO ACCOMPLISH A MISSION — ANGUS MACFADYEN GUEST STARS AS ‘NICHOLAS QUINN’ — After a harrowing mission, Sarah (Yvonne Strahovski) returns to Chuck (Zachary Levi) with a huge secret. Meanwhile, Ellie (Sarah Lancaster) and Awesome (Ryan McPartlin) are presented with a new opportunity that could change their lives. Adam Baldwin and Joshua Gomez also star.

Episode 5.13 “Chuck vs. the Goodbye”

CHUCK’S FINAL MISSION BRINGS HIM BACK TO HIS ROOTS AS HE FIGHTS TO SAVE HIS FUTURE – ANGUS MACFADYEN AND LINDA HAMILTON GUEST STAR — Chuck (Zachary Levi) enlists his family, friends and some unexpected allies as he races to stop Nicholas Quinn (guest star Angus Macfadyen, “Braveheart”) from destroying everything Chuck has built over the past five years. Yvonne Strahovski, Joshua Gomez, Adam Baldwin, Sarah Lancaster, Scott Krinsky, Vik Sahay and Mark Christopher Lawrence also star.

Sounds intense, right? And now that we have the description for 5.12, I’m pretty sure Sarah’s secret has to do with that pregnancy test we saw in the preview for 5.09. Or rather, another test, taken a few weeks later.

  1. Agreed about the secret. I think just another example of why not to freak out over an episode title:) certainly doesn’t sound like she will be fighting chuck 😉

  2. It must be. Certainly after Baby, they wouldn’t have Sarah keeping mission secrets from Chuck, right? It must be personal. Maybe her mission is to paint the nursery, lol.

  3. “And now that we have the description for 5.12, I’m pretty sure Sarah’s secret has to do with that pregnancy test we saw in the preview for 5.09. Or rather, another test, taken a few weeks later.”

That’s what I thought too. It wouldn’t be plausible for her to keep pregnancy secret from 5.09 to 5.12, not from a characterization point-of-view, and simply because we see Chuck with her doing the test.

So, maybe the test in this weeks episode is a red herring, but she actually gets pregnant later.

  4. Difficult to speculate. I’m still stuck on “FINAL Episodes of Chuck.”

    • You and me both. The cold hard reality that the end of our wonderful little
show is almost here is enough to make a grown man cry.

  5. i could be totally off here, but it sounds like the conspiracy plot might not be over. chuck is trying to save everything he has built for the past five years? sounds like this nicholas quinn might be behind something…perhaps shaw was somehow able to put him up to it?

also the “unexpected allies” makes me think we might see some guest stars from the past. there’s been a LOT papa b references this season…makes me think we might see him in some way, shape, or form

    • Lots of possibilities for what “unexpected allies” could mean.

Could be anything from more probable ones like the Cat Squad or Beckman to some actually unexpected like perhaps…Jill.

Haven’t paid that much attention to casting spoilers (I know mama B is returning), but maybe they manage to have some nice surprises.

    • First thing I thought of for “unexpected allies” were Jeff and Lester. Jeff is shown to be in the hunt to learn what’s going on.

      • Jeff and Lester is a good guess. I think with “unexpected” my mind wandered off to characters we haven’t seen in a while, but Jeff and Lester could certainly be seen as unexpected helpers too.

      • I agree-Jeff and Lester, and might as well throw in Big Mike so the Buy More team can save the day.

  6. Mel, any idea why Ryan is not listed in the cast of 5×13?

  7. “Meanwhile, Ellie (Sarah Lancaster) and Awesome (Ryan McPartlin) are presented with a new opportunity that could change their lives”

Anybody else thinks this opportunity might be an invitation for them to become spies? There has been a lot of playing the spies from them in this season…

  8. maybe the huge secret is that she found out papa b is still alive….dun dun duh,n its after she returned from a mission, maybe on the mission it had sometin to do with papa,n i think that the pregnancy test she has in tomorrows episodes will be negative, but she decides that after the pregnancy scare, she actually wants a baby

  9. maybe the test we see tomorrow is a false negative. and maybe she finds out herself that she actually is pregnant and doesn’t tell anyone.

  10. I’m still holding out for Orion to make an appearance this season. There’s been a lot of surprise special guests. Graham and Shaw come to mind, and remember Shaw would’ve been a surprise had NBC not spoiled it.

  11. More Sarah secrets?? So cliche by now, lol.

Too bad Chuck and co couldn’t make of Carmichael Industries a successful business. It was so lame the way they lost all their millions.. well at least he got his dream girl. 😀

  12. I’m more confused than ever! First line says she has to keep a secret to accomplish a mission. Second line says she comes back from a mission with a secret!

    • I was thinking the same thing and went back and read it again. It seems to contradict itself.

    • Well, if we assume the secret is pregnancy here’s one scenario:

Sarah, while on a solo mission discovers she’s pregnant. Then she has to keep it secret from Chuck for some reason… perhaps she’s afraid the news might keep Chuck from doing something he has to do. Or maybe she’s afraid of getting left behind.

I’m not exactly thrilled with them keeping secrets again, but it’s always possible there’s a good enough reason for it so I’ll keep open mind for now.

I’m also curious about Chuck going “back to his roots”… wondering if that’s a reference to something specific from the early episodes.

  13. SARAH MUST KEEP A SECRET FROM CHUCK IN ORDER TO ACCOMPLISH A MISSION

Well, if Sarah is pregnant, and she tells Chuck, do you really think he will let her go on missions? Maybe she discovers that she is pregnant, but doesn’t tell him so she can go on the mission, and then, when she comes back, she has a secret that eventually she will have to tell him.

And if she’s pregnant, that’s one more reason for Chuck to fight to save his family and everything he has built with Sarah, don’t you think? Their FUTURE is at stakes.

    • Robert- I agree completely. See my comment on 1/7 in which I should have deffered to your analysis.

  14. No Bonita Friedericy? I surely hope that Beckman is in the finale.

  15. gahh!! again with sarah and secrets. enough is enough already

  16. I’d like to see 007 make a return appearance as one of the allies, along with some sort of message from Chuck’s dad. Bringing him back to life would be lame. But getting a hidden message would be cool. And yes, help from Jeffster would be nice as well.

I just wish the show wasn’t ending, like everyone else here. There’s not much worth watching on tv anymore. I was a late comer to the show. But once I watched it, I got hooked right away. It had a nice balance of everything–comedy, action, romance. Even my husband enjoyed it. Whatever happens in the finale, I hope it brings a sense of closure like the Buffy finale did. I don’t want to be left hanging or anything.

  17. Sarah is keeping a secret from Chuck? It’s deja vu all over again.

They’re going to destroy what Chuck as built over the last five years? What has he built besides his relationship with Sarah.? He’s not the human Intersect anymore, he doesn’t work for the CIA anymore, and the combined income of the Buy More and Carmichael Industries is insufficient to provide a down payment on a house (I’m assuming they’ve looked into an FHA loan).

    • We don’t know what he will have achieved by the time the finale rolls around. Maybe CI is a profitable endeavor by then. (BTW, given the cost of housing in the Burbank area, a down payment on a house is going to be a hefty amount.) In addition, Chuck has a wife, a closer relationship with is sister and brother-in-law, strong friendships with Morgan and Casey, is no longer estranged from his mother, probably has a baby on the way, has a decent reputation with the CIA and NSA, and is a competent spy with or without the Intersect. From where I’m sitting, there’s a lot at stake.

      • Yeah but he had some of that before. So they weren’t all built over five years. I think my point was the relationship he built with Sarah is what he has most to lose. That’s what I think is threatened but that doesn’t necessarily exclude any of your ideas.

  18. I know it is alot to ask, but I hope they tie up all the lose ends for all the major characters including Jeff and lester, and dont forget Big Mike. Chuck and Sarah retiring to to be normal for awhile to raise a child is an excellent way to end the series. Who knows, they may return in a few years on the big screen as a “Spy Family”.

  19. Really hope that there will be Chuck movie someday.

  20. I don’t see why they wouldn’t do a movie someday. The WB would not have to put a lot of money into it, and with Chuck’s fan base all around the world, I could see a movie being very successful and profitable.

Or maybe that is all wishful thinking, but I hope not

  21. Chuck must go back to his roots.. Does it mean he will get the Intersect back?

    • It’s a possibility but I don’t think so.

Chuck doesn’t need the intersect to be a good spy, and from the writers point of view it wouldn’t really push the character forward.

Also, it looks like they’re determined to end the series with Chuck and Sarah seeking normal life… Chuck getting the intersect back would go against that too.

    • The Intersect is the premises of the Show. Otherwise it will just be a generic spy show.

      “Man. I Miss the Intersect”

      • Intersect is important, but with the show ending there’s no real need for Chuck or anyone else to have it.

And most fans and Fedak himself consider the Chuck/Sarah relationship the heart of the show.

  22. I think that on “Chuck vs. Sarah” Sarah’s secret is that she knows she is pregnant, and Chuck does not. If she tells Chuck, Sarah knows he will try to keep her from going on a mission that is crucial to their, or maybe just Chuck’s, well being. And, of course she chooses to save him and/or them over all else.

  23. WRONG- I was. My intuition has completely failed me. I did not think Chuck and Sarah would be fighting villains in the last episode (or two). I started to try and write why I felt that, but could not come up with anything valid. I guess it is good that “Chuck”, to the end, will keep me guessing and somewhat confused. That is why it is such a good show.

  24. I’m SOOOO excited and SOOOO sad at the same time, I don’t want it to be over!!!! I’m betting Sarah is pregnant, either it was a false negative or she got prego afterwards, either way, eeek!!

Wonder what Ellie & Awesome’s life changer is, kinda speculating the same as everyone else on them becoming spies, hmm. Hoping not to be honest, but with the story lines they’ve had recently, I could see that happening.

I hope they do some sort of epilogue, I wanna see how they are in like 10 years or something. I don’t want to imagine life without Chuck…… tear!

  25. Anyone else worried that Awesome is going to die? I wasn’t really thinking about it but I just noticed his name isn’t listed in the final episode description, just the one before it.

  26. Maybe the secret is that Sarah downloaded the intersect for the mission. Hahaha

  27. What would make this a good series finale: bomb is set to explode destroying everything important in the Chuck univese, and Chuck uses the “Irene Demova Virus” to de-activate it. (or a similar homage to the show’s roots)

“Maybe the secret is that Sarah downloaded the intersect for the mission. Hahaha”-

Really scary how that actually is the case.
