NBC President Says “Chuck Is Over”

In today’s Television Critics Association presentation, NBC President Robert Greenblatt confirmed (again) that Chuck will end on January 27. I’m not sure which hardcore Chuck fan in the audience of television critics asked him if it might get a last-minute reprieve, but Mr. Greenblatt’s response was one of the most direct I’ve ever heard from a network exec:

“Have you seen the ratings of Chuck?” asks Greenblatt. “Unfortunately that rabid fan base that was going crazy on the net, didn’t come to the show. Maybe it didn’t come to the show because it was Friday, but you think they would find the show. The show is doing a 1 rating. I think Chuck’s time has come. Chuck is over. Let’s alert the masses.”

Props for honesty, sir, but geez. Way to insure none of us want to stick around for any of your other shows.

Chuck vs the Goodbye: 10 Years Later

Today marks the tenth anniversary of the Chuck series finale. It feels like a decade …

  1. I remember when scrubs was on NBC and they got cancelled, and to my surprise Zak Braff took his idea to ABC and got 2 more seasons out of it and ended in a better way than NBC ever gives any good show. I would love to see another network pick up this show and revive it and give it a great time slot that doesn’t have to compete with football or something that is really tough to compete against

    • It’s too late for that, Jon. As far as production goes, Chuck has ended, and that’s fine. They were able to create a proper ending for our heroes and wrap up the storylines that were put in motion 5 years ago. I don’t need another network to pick it up (and at this point, that’s not an option), but I would prefer not to be insulted by the president of the network.

      • That’s exactly it, Mel…you hit the nail on the head. He didn’t have to be insulting about it. Insulting fan bases isn’t the best way to draw more people in (or to hang onto the ones you have).

      • The Majority of Chuck Fans Do not have a Nielsen Box. That is why we fought to keep the show through Social networks sights. Just because the rating don’t reflect it doesn’t mean we are not watching. I don’t know any one who has a Nielsen box. I sure don’t. My Mom, Co-workers Myrtha, Sally, Hazel are big Fans of Chuck too. @LittleChuckFan w/ the Help of Chuck fans raised $12,340 for St. Judes Last year. When The Moved to Fri. My work has me working Later. Which on Mon I got out at 7p-8p. I try to watch is asap. There need to be a change in the Nielsen Ratings They don’t take into consideration Those who do not have the Nielsen Boxes. So we used social media to make our voices heard.

    • Besides, Scrubs was produced by ABC Studios, sister company to ABC. That was one of the main reasons ABC picked it up.

  2. Well I think the biggest problem with CHUCK is the Nielsen Rating System. I think it is definitely broken. I feel that CHUCK has so many more live viewers than the ratings have ever shown. Just because the few selected Nielsen families don’t watch CHUCK doesn’t mean there aren’t thousands or even millions more who are watching. I don’t know why they can’t have a rating system like voting for Idol or any other show you cast a vote for. They can limit the number of times a person can call because they do on other shows. If after any TV show there was a number you could call one time only for that show to let the networks know you were watching they would get a true reading of the fans. I also feel like NBC has never promoted CHUCK at all. NBC sure does have a lot of CHUCK items on the NBC store site since they know how loyal CHUCK fans are. They like the CHUCK fans money. I too am one who will have no use for NBC after January the 27th. I was hoping that the CW would notice all the CHUCK fans just longing for a network for our favorite show and buy the rights to CHUCK. CHUCK at it’s worse ratings are high or higher than their hit shows.

  3. Way to kick us when we are down as it is, Mr. Greenblatt. And yes we have seen the ratings for Chuck. What did they really expect when they moved it to Friday nights, with hardly any, if any, promotion at all. It can’t be seen online anywhere, no repeats, plus being pre-empted in different areas and then being shown after midnight or the next day. So sure, the ratings are going to be terrible……..file that in the ‘duh’ files. I think they wanted to make sure it didn’t come back next year.
I am very happy that we do get this 5th and final season, but it sure puts a damper or downer on the season when we read things like this. At least we can hold our heads high that we (fans) kept this show alive long enough to see it end properly.
Kudos to the cast and crew of Chuck for running a classy organization. And kudos to you, ChuckTV.net, for running this great site and keeping it classy too. You have a created a community of fans like no other. THANK YOU!

  4. Wow, what a dick.

I mean, ya, Chuck isn’t doing well and ya, we all know it’s over. I’m very thankful to NBC for giving us these final 13 episodes, which, frankly, they didn’t have to do. But really.

The guy is honest, I’ll give him that, but you would think he would have a little more class than giving us all a huge middle finger after cancelling our show.

  5. What Robert Greenblatt said was true, just phrased in a completely tactless manner. Chuck may have been under-performing, but the ratings for NBC as a whole, save the reality shows, aren’t so hot.

However, it sounds like Mr. Greenblatt needs a refresher course in how the ratings system works. The “rabid fan base” did follow the show to it’s new Friday slot, but he seems oblivious to the fact that we are not all Nielsen viewers. A lot of the fans, myself included, are not in the U.S., which means that our viewership counts for nothing.
Furthermore, his inelegant phrasing serves only to alienate the “rabid fan base”. If he believes that practically insulting a large group of people is a great way to drum up support, then I’m afraid he may have miscalculated.

He’ll no doubt care very little and remain happy as the reality shows will doubtlessly continue to draw big ratings and after all, it’s not about making friends, it’s about making money.

    • I wonder how many fans of Chuck actually are a part of the Nielsen rating system. I have never met any one who as taken part of this program. When NBC does get a program that people love that cancel it, we were luck enough to get a final season from Chuck with a wrap up, we didn’t get that with Heroes and a few others. Chuck was the last show on NBC that I do watch, so I don’t have to worry about flipping to that channel again, CBS has the best line up, And then there is Revenge on ABC which has had a great first season. So Mr Greenblatt, your PR people definitely need to work with you, because you are costing your network viewers by comments like that.
And for what its worth people are getting tired of reality TV shows and Judge shows, talk shows taking over everything. We like our family shows, our action shows, even our soaps, And that goes for all networks not just NBC,.

  6. All the goodwill generated from the renewal of season 5 was gone due to those insensitive remarks. There are much nicer ways of stating the facts and you would have thought the President of a big organization would know that. NBC would be so lucky if they have some of these “rabid fans” to support their other shows online or otherwise. Was going to check out “The Firm” but decided not now seeing that they probably don’t need any rabid Chuck fan’s support after spending so much on advertisements.

  7. I wasn’t aware Clyde Decker was the new president of NBC
I’m very thankful that The Office is failing because once it does, SNL and the NHL will be the only reasons I have to watch this terrible network. I can’t believe that a network would be so cruel to its fans. There are easier ways to say “I’m sorry but it’s just not in the cards.”

  8. For four years Chuck fans whined that the show would be doing better if only it had a different time slot. Then when it got one, one that it could and should have dominated, the show tanked further.

Greenblatt, who was equally tough on the entire NBC lineup in that presser, has nothing to apologize to Chuck fans for. Nor does NBC, which kept renewing the show despite lousy ratings and a 13-episode show reboot in Season 3 that was barely cogent.

Besides, the question was dumb. The sets were already struck. Why would the question even be asked of a network executive.

And for all you folks who say you’ll not watch or sample any NBC show now, well, your loss. If a show is good, it shouldn’t matter what network it’s on and you shouldn’t make some dumb comments that you’ll regret the minute say, oh, Community returns…

  9. Its a shame Greenblatt could not have been more gentle in his response; unfortunately from a business point of view the new CEO had to cut the show from the lineup because of atrocious ratings in the prime advertising demographic. I love the show and hate to see it go, but am glad they gave it the extra episodes in order to properly finish the story.

It is not only NBC that is the pits. I remember several years back being so mad at ABC I refused to watch them for awhile. They canceled Boston Legal when it was still averaging over 9 million viewers, had Emmy and SAG nominations, and over a 2.0 in the prime ad demo…all the networks are jerks at times!

    • I’m still smarting from CBS’ decision to cancel Moonlight in 2008.

      • I agree! The Unit and Clubhouse as well. I remember when those were cancelled I was pretty upset with CSI (oops I mean CBS) and thought at least NBC will never do something like this. A year later FNL and Chuck were gone.

  10. What’s the big deal about his comments? Is he wrong? No! The ratings are terrible! There are several reasons for it (many of us have things to do on Friday nights, we know it’s over so there’s no incentive to make sure we watch it live, etc.), but facts are facts. Let’s face it, we are the vocal minority. We did a hell of a job getting a Season 3, a Season 4, and a Season 5, but when they announced that Season 5 was it, period, we took it for granted and didn’t push like we did in the past.

    • As I said above, he’s not wrong in what he said. But he still shouldn’t have said it that way.

      • It takes some real nerve insulting a fan base for not coming out when the normal methods of today’s TV (ie, Hulu, etc) were not made available to us.

      • What about the fact that many fans, knowing it was the last season, may not have tuned in live and checked it out on DVR later. Having it advertised to them as the last season – many fans just turn away and give up. At least we weren’t Heroes and we’re getting an end htough.

  11. I hearby put the ” Super-Duper Chuck curse of doom ” on NBC. ( Except for 30
    Rock of course.).

  12. I don’t see what the big deal here is. I don’t think this is upsetting to hear at all. Do you guys realize that Chuck had potentially FOUR series finales?! and that NBC continued to renew it even though they had every reason not to? I am just so god-darn thankful that I got a season five and that they can end it properly and the only people I can thank that for are TPTB at NBC!

Yes, he put what he said in a very harsh tone but I think what the exec would rather hear from the audience is, “Thank you so much for giving us five seasons of a show that was about to be cancelled TWICE EVERY SEASON!” instead of “Is it coming back?” because I think the answer to that question is pretty obvious. For example, if I was not being shown the appreciation I expected when doing someone a large favor (the Chuck fan base) and instead was just being asked another repeated question that’s been asked probably a million times, I would give a smirk remark like he did too.

I don’t think there’s any reason for Greenblatt to be nice here but I also don’t agree that he should of been mean either but I also think that we all should just be thankful we even got more than two seasons.

NBC did bash our show but remember they’re the same people who helped get it to where it is. I don’t think we can complain with that.

  13. Chuck is a real succes, but the friday night is not a good day, NBC don’t know how chuck is a success abroad and on the Internet, they think only their mouths, and they prefer to distribute us the shit, which numbers.

  14. I’m 100% agrree to your comment Neo.
Chuck is a real succes, over the world I guess.
I live in Norway, and there Chuck are going on the afternoon: 5 am- 6 am.

Its just crazy, that nbc are sending the best tv-shows on the evning..
I mean that the people shoud vote! The Chuck crue want’s Chuck more, and not to forget the fan! It’s truly a mistake by NBC to “cancel” (say that the show will end) Chuck like they have done before, but now twice (Nbc have sad this two times to now).

  15. “But Greenblatt seems to be convinced that the audience isn’t there.”

Lol seriously? people have been fighting to keep this show running for ages. Other “popular” shows get multiple season contracts in advance and some of those shows all though well known, dont have a strong a fan base as Chuck 😛
Im not saying to push out more seasons (even though that would be amazing) but clearly there was a big audience otherwise whose been fighting for it??

  16. So he basically took something most of us know already and understand perfectly and made it sound like he is a complete (insert your favourite word here).

I’ve said this before: Although I’m not really happy that Chuck’s ending, I am very much happy that we are getting a proper ending that will not leave us hanging.

  17. That s rude… :/ I guess chuck is not bringing enough money xP for such reaction xD
But it is still the best show on the whole world and I still don t get it how why ratings are so low becouse when I ask friend which I suggest to watch chuck they all liked it so I.. don t get it. Maybe it is just me :/ but no matter what we still got 5 seasons which is great but it could have been better if we got extra 9 to really close the book in style that chuck deserves !!! <3 chuck !!

  18. Well, rabid fan base, or whatever you prefer to call it, it has been a very grassroots and loyal following of persons that “get” this show. We love the characters, just as others love the characters in their favorite books. It has been a privilege to enjoy, commiserate, angst, and purchase sandwiches with the fellow viewers of Chuck. I think we have made history, and we have been discussed in boardrooms, writing rooms, the news media, and on the internet. This fan base has been a fun dynamic that took on a life of its own. There have been other fan bases that have attempted to save their favorite shows, but none were as successful. The method of delivery of programming is changing. Chuck fans understand this.

  19. This guy is not a diplomat, and sure doesn’t represent his network very well.

CHUCK is a treasure, and will remain so, in TV history. Thank you for giving us this website to follow along with this great show!

  20. Hey easy on Parenthood, I like that show – lots of heart (much like Chuck in that respect).

Anyway, when I saw the headline for this article my first thought was “didn’t we already know that?”

As for Mr. Greenblat’s comments, ya his point could have been made a little nicer, but like many others have pointed out he was only telling it like it is. And with a response like that, no body is gunna be asking him that question again…lol

I for one am very grateful that we got this last season in order to conclude the story. (Especially when NBC had every right to cancel it).

The show is probably coming to its natural conclusion anyway. Chuck and Sarah are married and going to start a family. Casey is close with his daughter and starting a relationship of his own. The Awesomes have baby clara and are in on the spy biz…and on and on I could go.

So I am going to just sit back and enjoy what we have left…and I am not going to hold Mr. Greenblat’s comments against him or NBC. If they have programming that interests me I will give it a shot.

On a seperate note: Maybe a pipe dream but I think that one day there could be a Chuck movie. The show is very popular around the world. The WB would not have to put a huge amount of money into it, and I would like to think the cast and crew would come back in a heartbeat. I think it could be very successful and profitable. I know it is a different show and circumstance but there is gonna be a 24 movie…why not Chuck?

    • I agree 134sc. Yvonne was on Jimmy Kimmel tonight and said she cried for a month before the show wrapped up in Dec. A movie would cheer the whole cast and crew up and continue to take the Chuck fans on incredible journeys. This fanbase deserves a movie and as a collective group we can band together around the world to make that happen. We have the internet, that’s our intersect.

    • I agree 134sc. The Chuck fan base is the strongest fan base around the world. Yvonne was on Jimmy Kimmel tonight and said she cried for one month before the show wrapped up in Dec. We as a fan base can ban together and ask for a Chuck movie to be made. We have a intersect too called the internet. The cast and crew would love to continue a new journey with Chuck fans and new bad guys. Steven J. Bartowski had a lot of files that were destroyed in the basement in Season 4. More stories to be made and not rushed by Nielsen ratings.

  21. ‘Direct’ was too nice a word for Mr.Greenblatt’s response, Mel. Try hostile, insulting, disrespectful–to the cast, crew, & fans of the show. You would expect to find someone from another network, or non-fan bloggers using the term ‘rabid’ to describe those of us loyal fans who still love CHUCK, not the NBC president saying that. That hurts.

It has seemed that this season especially, the network has given CHUCK the middle finger by moving it to Friday, & running new, important episodes on Friday nights right before Christmas & New Years when almost no one is watching live television. And then the nasty comments. I’m surprised that it’s even fared as well as it has considering the circumstances…I think I read in a recent article that CHUCK had the 6th highest increase in ratings when including DVR, of scripted shows…??

I guess if the guy had any integrity he would’ve just politely said, this is the final season of CHUCK, & leave it at that. No need to be a _____!@#$%^ (fill in the blank).

  22. The fact is NBC blew it big time with chuck for many reasons. 1st when chuck started with great ratings it lost it’s momentum when it suddenly disappeared and got moved around, I think because of a writers strike, but then it suddenly reappeared without much advertising and I didn’t even know it had returned and had already missed a couple of episodes which brings me to the 2nd problem, the advertising. NBC did a terrible job promoting Chuck when they even promoted it at all. They had their best ensemble cast since friends and they blew it. They put quick snippets on instead of commercials showing all the comedy, drama and action chuck had to offer in 1 show. If they want to see how it should have been done all they need to do is go over to youtube and see action clips fans have put to catchy tunes like Phantom Planet’s Dropped and they can see what a commercial to really promote chuck should have looked liked. 3rd for me was the direction the writing took. The excellent writers of the 1st seasons who made the antics of the buymore fit seamlessly with what was going on in the spy world and somehow help solve the mission were gone. (Ellie and Awesome’s wedding is the perfect example, best TV wedding ever!) I much prefered the funny spy mission episodes than the long drawn out looking for mother, volkoff storyline of season 4 (the worst season in my opinion) and if you think of successful ratings shows like Castle there’s a new mystery/mission every week. There might be little threads going through each show like will they, won’t they get together or who murdered Kate’s mother but basically there’s a new murder each show just like Chuck in the first three seasons with a new spy mission each show. I also didn’t like how the intersect was gone as it changes the whole concept of the show, an ordinary guy gets an intersect and it changes his life. I know they were trying to show character development and that chuck would be good even without the intersect but as the character development grew the ratings dropped, anyone else out there besides me miss chuck’s girlish screams? 4th the placement of chuck was nbc fault, they continually put it up against Dancing with the Stars and then were surprised the ratings were low and then put it on Fri. where no shows do well. The fact is I have never ever bought a TV series on dvd before as I couldn’t understand why people would want to watch something they’ve already seen but I have all 4 seasons of chuck and will have season 5 because I’ve never loved a show and its cast this much before and have never been this upset with a cancellation of show before. I am really sad there are not going to be anymore spy missions and that this cast is not going to be working together anymore. NBC really dropped the ball on this one.

  23. NBC giveth and NBC taketh away. They funded the start up and carried the show. They advertised the heck out of it during NFL playoffs which is what brought me on as a chuck fanATIC years ago.

Once they decided that this was the last year, they buried it on Friday night and then did not allow for episodes to be carried on Hulu or even NBC.com, guaranteeing that viewership would tank.

  24. OVERRRR!!! I don’t want to be rude, but what the hell is the president thinking.
Just look at the ratings for “chuck vs the kept man” there are 3.3m viewers, and look at supernatural which has 1.7m viewers and has 7 seasons already and I don’t think they will stop which have horrible rating comparing to CHUCK. His reputation is over. He just lost all Chucksters.

    • @Valdet You do realize that Supernatural is on the CW, which as a network gets very low ratings compared to the other networks like abc, nbc, fox, and cbs, this means to CW executives 1.7 million viewers/episode is like 8 million for NBC, so to NBC 3 million viewers is shit since they used to have upwards of ten million with shows like Seinfeld and Friends.

  25. Yeah, he really should have come up with a more tactful way of answering the question. Something to the effect of, “The network did not have plans to continue the series beyond the 13 episodes that were ordered this year. Also, the ratings on Friday have not been good enough to change that decision. But I want to assure the dedicated fans that the series will have a proper finale.”

See? That’s honest without being insulting. This guy really needs a better PR guy or something…

I’m not surprised by this news at all. I mean, there was already a statement from the network saying that unless the show has a major rise in viewership that the series was done anyway.

Oh well. The only other shows I like on NBC (Harry’s Law and Community) are on the bubble as well so I doubt there will be much keeping me watching the network come next season.

  26. I know this has been said before already but WTF you don’t kick a guy or gal when they’re down.
Ok we get it there will be no more chuck after this season. He must be getting asked this question alot inorder to incite this kind of a responce even though it won’t matter a whole lot I’m done with NBC.
hey glad that NBC ordered the last 13 episodes and for that I say thanks but why be so rude to the fans.
In this electronic age of the web and the Internet the way we watch tv makes the old ratings system obsolete. Thanx

  27. I think people are overreacting about his comments.
You have to realize where he’s coming from. When Greenblatt renewed the show for a 5th season, he said, baring a miracle, that it would be the final season.

Now with ratings at their lowest, I’d have to imagine he’d feel insulted for someone to ask if the show might get a last minute revival, given what he has already done for the show.

I think Chuck fans are being way too sensitive. This is a show that never has, and never will obtain mass-appeal. We got 5 seasons of the show we love, and any Chuck fan that thinks we were treated unfairly, cut short, or given the short end of the rope is delusional.

  28. I was already walking after Chuck and Community officially end. The way they’ve handled their shows and refused to acknowledge that the rating systems are not the only measuring stick of a shows worth already made me decide that I would rather focus my attentions elsewhere. I am really excited about companies like Netflix and DirectTv entering the production business at the very least to have a new creative outlet for shows that network tv just can’t handle, a la Chuck, Community, Arrested Development, Damages and Human Target. It was an uphill battle for Chuck, but to have the insult added to the cancellation is just too much.

  29. Okay, at first I was insulted to be called ‘rabid’….but now in retrospect Mr.Greenblatt may be onto something. I’d like to bite his ankle real hard.

  30. Seriously!? Well Mr Greenblatt you’ve just made sure that I never will watch another NBC show ever again! I know that what he said is true but should his anger really be directed towards us? We’re the loyal fanbase, is it our fault that Chuck never got the viewers it deserved? No! It’s more NBC:s fault because of bad promotion and bad planning!

P.S I’m gonna miss Chuck like hell! I can’t believe it’s really cancelled this time! It feels like, in the eleventh hour, someone’s goona tell us that’s it’s been renewed again but noop. That’s why a speech like Greenblatt’s just make me soooo mad! :\'(

  31. I agree with his comments but didn’t he think about his tone when saying it. Maybe he was just tired of people bringing up Chuck’s renewal fate when they look at the ratings of the network. But instead of saying, “This show is donzo, finished, finite, dead, do you see what a craptacular rating it got, let’s shout it from a mountaintop that Chuck is Gone!!”, he should have said something like “We really appreciate it’s fanbase, but we will not be going forward with anymore Chuck episodes after Jan 27.” That would have been a classy way of saying that Chuck is definitely finished.

  32. Sure, it was a pretty bold question to ask to the President of NBC, but it’s still shocking that any executive would say something so rude to a customer (viewer, in this case). I have primarily jumped to other networks over the past couple years and this just gives me all the more reason to stay away from NBC.

Will be so sad to see Chuck go, but I’m beyond the moon excited that they’re actually getting a chance to give the show a proper ending. Maybe if NBC hadn’t toyed with them so many times over the years, they would have been able to deliver the awesomely high quality episodes that we’ve been seeing this season over the past 4 years as well. It’s all a vicious circle, and, unfortunately, Chuck’s destiny. Props to the cast and crew to delivering a great show, despite all the uncertainty and negativity from NBC. We love you! 🙂

  33. We are not a Nielsen family, but I have four children ages 11-16, with a TV in each bedroom, and one in the living room. Every Friday night (this year) we all either gather in the living room, watch Chuck in separate rooms, or a combination of the two. We all love the show, it is not overly violent, or gratruitous, although sometimes it can be a little racy. (Not compared to the shows on “ABC “”Family”””) ( quotation marks used purposefully as that network has some of the least family friendly programming I have seen on TV). Anyway my point is that Chuck is something that we all enjoyed, it was fun, you didn’t have to think to understand the plot, but it wasn’t a stupid show, it was what we thought it was, a fun light hearted show, with a great protagonist, with an overriding theme (at least in our eyes), that no matter who you are or were, you can do anything. While this show exercises this point quite fantastically, its what we got from it. And my family will miss this wonderful piece of programming greatly.

That being said, it is no wonder the shows ratings are so low, I am a die hard Chuck fan and without a google search for this sight, would not have been able to find the new night and time, let alone the premiere date, needless to say I missed the premiere by a week. Then, I came to find out episodes were not available online. It is just ridiculous, obviously people love this show, and just because it is not scoring highly in the ratings system, does not mean it is not doing, well, anything that can garner the kind of support Chuck earns from its fans year after year is in my opinion a success and something I would love to remain a part of.

Lastly, I can’t believe the crap that gets put on television and stays as compared to the shows that get cancelled. Is it really that interesting to watch parents ruin their little kids (Toddlers and Tiaras), or watch a guy bake extravagant cakes (Cake Boss), what about watching stars dance (Dancing with the Stars), and another singing show (The Voice) really? I just don’t get it, when I watch TV I want to enter into a fantastical, made up world, where the improbable happens regularly, not be reminded of real world problems and issues, TV is an escape, in my opinion.

  34. I believe from Mr. Grennblatt’s point of view that Chuck isn’t worth the networks time of day. I have been a follower since season one, my husband and kids have been faithful watchers. I know the networks base there budgets/shows based on neilsen ratings and/or boxes, to me that is the biggest downfall of the networks. They (networks) rely to much on the black boxes of the ratings companies for their decisions regarding shows, instead of listening to the blogs and forums of the country. My family and I have completely enjoyed Chuck and will watch until the end. My kids are going to miss Chuck, Sara and John Casey, my kids love the antics and missions of this trio. I am in the process of buying each season of Chuck, as I can afford it, in support of the show staff and actors.

  35. It is time for Chuck to go but we as fans have put up with a lot-writer’s strikes, chopped up seasons and a few storylines that I did not particularly like–now Chuck just needs help dressing and combing his hair when he presents awards–I too hated the ending of Moonlight and also Life. I thought they were both exceptional and actually preferred them to Chuck. My #1 for the last few years is Closer and possibly #2 Castle-big separation between #1 and #2 and I am concerned Closer may not end on a high note.

Everyone is correct, we deserve at least a little common courtesy from the new guy on the block.

  36. Mr. Greenblatt’s comment on CHUCK is very harsh. I dont think he ever watch the show to begin with. There are not many Tv Series that like CHUCK. CHUCK is very unique in term of theme and storyline. CHUCK is the only show that can make my tears drops. I never miss any episode of CHUCK. I hope for the best to the actors in the future. I hope there will be CHUCK 2.

    RIP CHUCK

  37. Another network President who is out of touch with what people want! What is it with these guys? Quality programs seem to get the ax while stupid, mundane and boring programs continue.
“Chuck” has been nothing but entertaining and a program I looked forward to watch every week. I think the network wanted it to end and buried it on Friday nights which in my opinion is the “kiss of death!” Mr. Greenblatt, come clean and tell us why the network didn’t promote this program?
The cast has been exceptional, the characters so well rounded and we have come to love and care about them. I am so glad I bought the series. Maybe Mr. Greenblatt should be fired! “LETS ALERT THE MASSES!”

  38. Years ago, I saw Gene Roddenberry of Star Trek fame speak. He stated that a television show’s main purpose was to sell products. The content of the shows was insignificant as long as the show had good ratings, and a good show was a fluke.
I think that there is a lot of truth to this. I have seen many excellent show get the axe. One of my recent favorites was Human Target (that had one of Chuck’s better writers Matt Miller working on it), and it only lasted two seasons. I say that we were lucky to get five good years of Chuck.
Remember also that all good stories come to an end.

  39. Your wrong, simply put and fired NBC President Robert Greenblatt

  40. Chuck is one of the best shows Ive ever watched. I am really upset with the decision that chuck is over. I love sitting around with my parents and friends watching this show. Im really sad that its coming to an end. I wish that there can be another chance given to Chuck. :(((
