POLL: How Will Chuck End?

WARNING: Spoilers ahead!

And then there were two. Next week the final two episodes of Chuck air, closing the book on our beloved characters. After “Chuck vs. the Bullet Train”, we have Sarah with suppressed memories believing that she works with Quinn; Team Bartowski racing against time to save her and prevent Quinn from getting the “pristine” Intersect; and Jeff and Lester in Castle. How will end?

Chuck vs the Goodbye: 10 Years Later

Today marks the tenth anniversary of the Chuck series finale. It feels like a decade …

  1. In a sappy romantic way, I think it’d be so surreal if Chuck had no choice but to make Sarah re fall in love with him if her memories weren’t recovered. I think that, or the bar return from “Pilot”. or my least favorite of Casey or Sarah somehow dying, which would really suck.

    • If the show follows the comics, them Chuck and Sarah have kids and we’d have to add pregnant to your prediction.

  2. I think that maybe we’re getting hung up on some semantics that don’t really matter.

TPTB laid down the marker last night when Chuck drew that sketch. That’s what is at stake. Chuck and Sarah with a picket fence, out of the spy life, and starting a family.

Now we can debate what specifically is going to happen. We’ve seen about 20 seconds of almost 90 minutes of air time. So anybody who can predict specifically what is going to happen is smarter than I am. Mybe that’s not hard.

Will Sarah regain her memory? If so, how much?

    Will she be pregnant?

Will they do a flash forward?

    Will there be unexpected twists?

It’s fun to guess. I enjoy that too. But at the end of the day, we know with pretty much absolute certainy that we are going to get that sketch. Why else would they have shown it to us.

I think it’s going to be important to remember that. Over the next week we are going to be inundated with the reports from the next to last day of shooting. And those reports are all going to paint the most angsty spin possible. That’s just the nature of the media.

But if I get that sketch, I’m happy even if nothing I’ve predicted comes true, I trust that whatever we get, we’ll be able to live with.

    • I like your posts, Bill. You make sense, Your posts are thoughtful and well written. I guess my problem is that I’m disappointed, and can’t get past that. I had all sorts of thoughts about how the finale would go, but I didn’t expect they’d go through with it even though we had all sorts of clues. And I’m disappointed that we had a couple of red herrings thrown in about the Bartowski’s being pregnant. Whether that happens or not is probably not the issue now. The issue is the minute they put that in, I expected it to be true, and that was my mistake. I should never have believed that we’d have an easier journey to get to the finale. And I have nothing against Fedak personally, but the fact that he’s writing it leads me to think it will be a somewhat rushed finale because he said he threw everything in and spent everything in the budget that he could. So I again will assume that the finale I hoped for will not be. But again, that’s my mistake. Truth is, I would’ve loved this storyline to start the season, but it is what it is, and I will have to find something to change my view. I don’t mean to be or sound like a downer, but it has left me that way. Thank goodness there’s football to watch tomorrow!!

  3. Howdy. Actually needed to make a swift commentary and ask exactly where you received your particular web page theme I will be launching own web publication and truly appreciate your personal design.

  4. its going to end satisfying for all the chuck fans , we already know that. The only thing i´m so freaked out about it is how they get to the satisfying point. Will sarah get all her memories back? If not, that wouldnt be negotiable. This would be a total waste of her charakter development over the past 5 years when she cant remember her beautiful moments together with chuck.. if he really have to win her back and make her fall in love with him again.. i dont know what to say, that would just be incredibly bad and sad :/

  5. The truth is I would’ve thoroughly enjoyed this storyline if it started S5, but since it’s ending, I have concerns. And honestly, I guess I am disappointed. I had my expectations set in a very different direction and was let down by this. That’s my fault. And to be honest, Fedak isn’t my favorite writer. He likes to throw everything in and that makes for rushed finales. So that’s another one of my concerns, and also a disappointment. I thought for sure the “secret” was Sarah telling Chuck she was pregnant, based on those red herrings that were thrown in in earlier episodes, so now I have to hope there is a resolution to this story that makes sense and is satisfying. I don’t mean to be or sound like a downer, but I guess I didn’t want to have this plot done now. Hence disappointment. And I don’t know if I can enjoy watching Sarah hitting Chuck. That just breaks my heart. 🙁

    • But you’re not supposed to like Sarah hitting Chuck. It’s supposed to break your heart. That’s sort of the point. In order to tell a story, you have to have conflict. These characters are not perfect. They are flawed. They make mistakes. Bad things happen to them. If that didn’t happen the story would become boring.

I have this argument with reviewers all the time. Forty five some minutes of C/S holding hands might work once. But it would quickly get stale and boring.

It’s the writer’s job to keep us on the edge of our seats. I think by that measure, they have succeeded.

But if we didn’t have the possibility of a horrible outcome, we wouldn’t have the happy ending. Like Ellie said in Truth, if everything is awesome, then awesome by definition is mediocre. They’ve already told us we’re going to get the happy ending. Let’s enjoy the ride.

      It’s going to be okay.

      • All of what you say makes sense. And the disappointment is mostly in myself and the expectation I placed on the show. Doesn’t mean they won’t deliver. We’ll see. I am glad that there is football this weekend. Go Blue!! Thanks for putting up with me, BillAtWork. You may not believe this, but you actually made me feel a tad better!

  6. Hi All,

After watching Builet Train & The Series Finale again – this what I think will happen:

Firstly, Chuck is going to be a real “BAD ASS” until he gets Sarah back!
In vs Sarah – the first 15/20 minutes will be of Sarah trying to kill Chuck! Sarah will probably flash on some Kung Fu and try take out Chuck but she will be surprised that Chuck can hold his own against her attacks all the while Chuck will be talking to her trying to unlock her memories. While Sarah is distracted Casey will trank her. When they get her back to Castle Ellie & Awesome will discover how bad it is – While this is going on Chuck will build a suppression device! Once Sarah is Deintersected Chuck trys to help Sarah remember who she is. Just as they are making progress Quinn is back on the scene looking for the untanted Intersect shades. Chuck will have made enough progress with Sarah that she knows she can trust him & not Quinn! Sarah becomes a mole against Quinn. Chuck & Sarah decide to continue with Quinn’s mission & Et Al Bryce in vs The Intersect they break into the Intersect vault, however instead of downloading it to a PDA or the Macow device – Chuck & Sarah Download it into their brains to take Quinn down – we have Super Mr & Mrs Bartowski!

Their my Ideas thus far. What do people think?

  7. I honestly don’t care what they do, as long as Sarah regains her memories. If that doesn’t happen, I will not b a happy camper.

  8. I think that the first episode will deal with and sort out the whole thing with Sarah and the second episode will deal with the future of the characters. I could be completely wrong though. However the title “chuck vs the goodbye” makes me think that the characters will all go into their different directions (sort of like the O.C finale Ryan going to college, seth getting married). Its going to be tough the finale, though I take peace from knowing that we are getting a “proper” finale and not a mid-season cancellation. I hope though we get a montage at the end (sort of like at the king of queens). Man this is depressing just thinking about it.

P.S I know this is off topic, but what will happen to this website I really hope you guys stay on keeping us informed about anything chuck related and what all the actors get up to post chuck.

  9. I noticed nobody has mentioned the parachuting onto the beach scene yet. That could be the ending like in Season 1’s finale. Them looking at the picture and just watching the sunset.

  10. all i know is i can see them holding the sketch then they fuzz out the sketch and it will be sarah and chuck holding the baby with “2 years later” at the bottom i can just see it!

  11. Hi All,

Thinking back to the Series Finale promo. The fight between C/S takes place in their bedroom. Chuck talking to Sarah won’t work to unlock her memories so in a last gasp attempt to get to Sarah, Chuck puts Sarah’s favourate song Nina Simone’s Feeling Good – That song plays over the fight. As the song progresses Sarah starts to remember Chuck. She doesn’t remember everything but helps Chuck to “get his foot in the door” so to speak. That would be romantic in a weird way. What do people think?

    • it doenst look like their bedroom when they are fighting. pause the promo at 19 sec. i cant remember a window like that with a curtain like that

    • It’s the dream house. Go back and watch the last scene of Baby. Same curtains, same moldings. The “you do love me” is probably there too.

So I do expect that to be a dramatic scene.

      • its also the scene where sarah kicks chuck into the mirror … its at their dream home.. some important stuff is going to happen there.. i can imagine that chuck even dont defend himself when sarah is fighting against him tzo show her that he really loves her and maybe she’ll realize something then

  12. In a spoiler i read they say that sarah must keep a secret in order to accomplisch a mission. And whenn quinn shows a picture of chuck she says with a never seen him before. Bud you must see her look.
Hear me out: sarah pretend to not know chuck for a mission. And she comes pregnant back. The best end ever!!

    • I LOVE that idea!! I don’t want to believe that, because I can’t get my hopes up for anything remotely satisfying. I don’t think it will happen, because Yvonne has stated that it’s “tragic,” but your idea would be a nice one!

    • yea indeed its a nice idea but i think it wont happen, sarah wouldnt fight chuck if she really knows who he is at the beginning.

    • It’s not a spoiler. It’s in the official synopsis.

SARAH MUST KEEP A SECRET FROM CHUCK IN ORDER TO ACCOMPLISH A MISSION — ANGUS MACFADYEN GUEST STARS AS ‘NICHOLAS QUINN’ — After a harrowing mission, Sarah (Yvonne Strahovski) returns to Chuck (Zachary Levi) with a huge secret. Meanwhile, Ellie (Sarah Lancaster) and Awesome (Ryan McPartlin) are presented with a new opportunity that could change their lives. Adam Baldwin and Joshua Gomez also star.

  13. I just had a thought when watching the part of the promo where Chuck is holding the glasses, and him and Sarah look at them worried….What if a mock Intersect is created, that contains all of Sarah’s memories of Chuck, and Chuck is tempted to have Sarah upload it, despite the side effects, and in the end he decides she doesn’t need it, because there is still a spark between them that cannot be broken?

  14. Sarah will get her memories back, i know it. Does anyone else remember how a couple of episodes ago , if i am remembering correctly, they scratched their names into the door way? I feel like the moment Sarah sees that she will remember everything and than old Charah will be back together and forever this time. Also I think before she regains her memories, Sarah will end up killing someone, maybe Chuck’s mom or Casey but she will kill a big person, but it will defiantly not be Chuck.

  15. Hi All,

Over the last couple of days I’ve started to think Momma B has been working for Quinn all along – in vs The First Fight Volkoff said Momma B was a master of disception. She was trying to get the Intersect for Quinn since Papa B developed it, but she never expected to fall for Stephen! Still don’t think Sarah will kill any of her family!

  16. Why would Sarah have to keep a secret from Chuck in order to accomplish a mission if she can’t remember who Chuck is, and why would she ever return to someone she does’nt know? Just love this show and will be so sad when it ends. Mel you are the greatest and I always believe what you say is closer to the truth what will happen.

    • I believe the secret is referring to the fact that she’s supposed to kill him.

      • I think the secret is that she doesn’t know him or remember anything about their relationship/past. Not sure if she’d tell him her secret is to kill him. Even writing it is awful, isn’t it?

      • but why would she keep a secret from chuck if she doenst know him?
i mean, if she really doesnt know him, then she dont know that she has that secret from him. She thinks that she see him the first time or sth like that? u get my point? xD

little bit of a bad writing over here, sry for that ^^

    • Good question Kev. Maybe she’s confused and Chuck in his way tries to steer her away from killing him so he can explain who they are and what they mean to each other. Poor girl seems fuzzy on things. It does seem strange, I’ll grant you that. But she does fight him in their ‘home,’ so clearly, she is trying to do something to him 🙁

And the only thing I can come up with for Mama B holding a gun to Sarah is that she’s probably protecting Sarah from doing harm to someone.

      I think I need a drink!

    • Maybe Sarah remembering who she is comes at the climax of the episode instead of the end. There are plenty of episode descriptions that only say what part of the episode is about. For Chuck and Sarah’s storyline in the Kept Man, it says they discuss the future of Carmichael Industries, but not anything about Sarah thinking she’s pregnant, which is a big part of the episode. Maybe Sarah learns the truth and helps the team take down Quinn in the second half of the episode, and that’s when the issue of a secret comes up. Also, it says “after a harrowing mission” in one part of the description, which Sarah not knowing who she is and trying to kill Chuck would definitely count, and the mission the it says Sarah has to keep a secret for could be a different one.

  17. Let’s start off with a ton of disclaimers. I don’t know what’s going to happen. I’ve seen the same 20 seconds of promo that you have. It’s simply not enough to predict what will happen. A sneak peak could come out tomorrow and blow all of this away. Also, my track record at this is not stellar. I’m often wrong usually because the show is so unpredictable. So take this with a huge grain of salt. Having said all of that, here is what I currently am thinking.

Part of this is based on Zac’s spoiler to MA. He said that the first hour would be very tense, very sad, and tears shed. But the the 2nd hour would be lighter. We also know some things because of the set visits on the next to last shooting day. I suspect we’ll find out a lot more this week.

I expect Sarah’s mission is to make Chuck get her the intersect so that she can turn it over to her handler, and then kill him. That’s the secret.

I think that the first part of the 1st hour will be pretty tough to watch. Ice cold Agent Walker doesn’t have much compassion when she’s on a mission. There is a scene where Sarah has a gun pointed at Morgan’s head in what looks like an intersect room. I think Sarah is forcing the team to steal the intersect for her. I’m not sure if they succeed or not. I think not… but maybe.

There are also some scenes in the dream house. Sarah kicks Chuck into a mirror. I’m pretty sure that this scene takes place soon after the intersect room one. Sarah is wearing the same outfit (minus the vest). I have no idea why Sarah would agree to go there. Maybe Chuck tricks her.

The big scene in the promo is Sarah realizing that Chuck really does love her. You can clearly see the change in Sarah’s mood. It’s hard to not see that as a pivotal, turn-around moment. I think that’s right after Chuck gets kicked into the mirror. You can’t see Sarah’s clothes, but Chuck is wearing the same thing. And the background looks similar. So I expect that Sarah sees something (the Sarah + Chuck in the doorframe from Baby? Or the sketch from Bullet Train?) that sparks some memory. When that happens is unclear. It could be at the very end of the first hour. I hope earlier, but we’ll see.

We know that Chuck and Sarah go after Quinn to kill him. I suspect that Sarah now accepts Chuck as a good guy. I’m not sure how much real memory she has. But there are several scenes with them together. Dancing, running down stairs, in a Weinerlicious, telling someone that they stole my memories. I expect those are part of the Quinn mission.

There is a key scene with Chuck holding the intersect glasses. Sarah is looking concerned but sympathetic. My guess is that they’re debating if Chuck should upload the intersect or not. He may. I hope not. But that is clearly a different timeframe than the intersect room scene. Sarah’s hair style is different and they are wearing different clothes.

The scenes with Ellie and the cars, I have no idea. They are probably her helping in the mission to kill Quinn. Similarly the scene with Casey in a chopper.

Here is the biggest thing that puzzles me. MamaB pointing a gun at Sarah. They are clearly in Castle. Sarah looks to be alone. She also looks to be plainly dressed. So why would Sarah be in Castle, and why would Mary be pointing a gun at her? The easiest explanation is that Mary is capturing Sarah to help Chuck. But if Sarah becomes part of the team after the dream house scene, why does she need to be captured? And if she was captured before that, why would it happen? So is Mary bad? Is this after they’ve stole the intersect and Mary is getting it for Quinn? That would be a huge twist. Mary is the big bad who’s been behind this all along. That’s what Decker meant when he said that everything was planned from the beginning. Mary left Steven, not for Volkoff or for a mission, but for Quinn. Okay, so that’s pretty out there. It’s pretty dark. Maybe too dark. But I’m submitting it for your consideration.

A couple of scenes are pretty self explanatory. The people clapping are probably for the obligatory finale Jeffster performance. Casey hugging Chuck is clearly a goodbye. I’m guessing that it’s Casey who’s leaving, probably to join Verbanski. It’s hinted that Devon and Ellie might leave as well. And there are like 89 minutes and 40 seconds of things that I haven’t even touched upon, lol.

That’s as far as I can go, lol.

    • From what we’ve seen, I pretty much agree with your assumptions. I also think the “You really love me” scene will be near the end of 5.12. In their dream house, and Sarah will see the carving on the door frame.

But another thought came into my mind; what if it’s in the middle of 5.13? After they have dispatched Quinn? Chuck seems sad (and alone) in the scene where you see everyone applauding; what if he comes back to the dream house and BAM, Sarah is there waiting for him?

She tells him “You really love me!” to Chuck, they kiss, and voilà! Her memories come back. Because she will have seen how he treats her, how much he loves her, the pictures, the carving, the little drawing…wouldn’t that be nice?

      • Anything is possible. Too much that we haven’t seen. All I would say is that Chuck is wearing the same mission jacket in the “you love me” scene as he is when he is flying into the mirror.

And in the applauding scene he is wearing a suit jacket and tie. I think that Casey is standing next to him wearing a similar outfit. Chuck is wearing that same suit and tie (or an identical one) in several scenes. One where he and Sarah are running down some stair, he is dancing with Sarah, and when he is holding the intersect glasses.

    • I think sarah will hurt chuck after she ask “do you really love me” be cause there

is a bruise on zac’s face in 10 days left pic.It means sarah beats him badly…

But I don’t get it which scene will be first???

Chuck will hurt and they will remember as flashbacks or he gets well and

      sarah remembers everything… they catch Qüinn… I don’t know…

      • It also crossed my mind; like she’s teasing him “Oh, you really love me!” And then, BAM! But in that case, why she doesn’t finish the job?

    • Those are pretty good assumptions. And I think you’re right; we’ll be getting more this week. I won’t be watching this episode live. I am taking the coward’s way out, and will wait till others have seen and their reviews on it to decide if I’ll even watch it period. I might change my mind depending upon what news comes out this week, but I don’t want to see Sarah kick Chuck, no matter how satisfying the outcome will be. I know it’s cowardly, wimpy, whatever, but this storyline has upset me more than I thought it would, so I don’t want any surprises. But you seem to be pretty accurate about what seems to be happening. I do think Ellie will be continuing her dad’s work with the intersect. It seems fitting for her. Jeffster will go out in a blaze of glory. Casey will be saying goodbye to hopefully something amazing for him. And hopefully with Gertrude. Morgan will be with Alex. Chuck and Sarah? Hopefully happy to the point where this entire plotline will be erased from my memory!!

  18. Why mama B points a gun to sarah in promo???

  19. My question is this does Quinn have a bunch of false information on Chuck in the folder he had because I am sure Sarah would want to know about her new target before her mission? Does seem like a dumb question, if so I am sorry I am new to posting on this site.

  20. To be honest I´d love to see Casey being re-hired to the NSA and promoted general for all his hard work. He´s one of the characters that needs some love.

  21. http://www.usatoday.com/life/television/story/2012-01-17/chuck-nbc-zachary-levi/52745442/1 everybody should read this article. Zack talks about how even though the show is ending they were thinking about an online hour and a half Chuck movie.

  22. I think the more important quote from that article is Yvonne’s.

Will it be satisfying for those dedicated fans? “I hope it will be,” she says. “The way it sort of gets tied up in a bow to finish it will be good.”

  23. Here’s my guess:

I think the sketch drawing that Chuck did in Bullet Train will be key to helping Sarah regain her memory. Remember, she told Chuck that she could never forget that drawing. Seeing it will key her memory and bring her back.

Quinn will somehow get the intersect glasses, and Chuck and Sarah will go after him to get them back with the help of Mama B, of course. In the end, I think that Chuck will get the intersect back as well.

Beckman will then remember that the CIA had frozen their funds and return them to Chuck and Sarah. In the last scene, Chuck and Sarah will be moving into their dream house.

    Again, just my guess.

  24. It’s going to be a happy ending. The question that should be asked is how schmaltzy that last hour will be! Look at how much time was spent at the end of “vs. Baby” with everyone laughing and just enjoying each others company. So, we should be debating how many of minutes will be spent on pure emotion of wrapping up the series.

  25. Hi All,

I have been thinking about how Chuck will appeal to Sarah and get her back. Chuck has known Sarah for five years. He may not be able to unlock her memories but Chuck knows Sarah is suspous in nature – he probably throw enough doubt at her and hope it sticks. Looking at the “You really love me” peice of the promo if you look at Chuck’s face after she said it he didn’t look relaxed – it was as if he was preparing himself for Sarah’s attack. He probably woun’t defend himself and its going to be brutal to watch but I reckon it will trigger something in Sarah’s mind hopefully.

    What do people think?

BTW sorry for the bad spelling!!

  26. Im sorry to say that I dont think for ! second that sarah will get her memories back maybe small flashes but thats it

Its kind of sad really, that they felt it was necessary to wipeout 5 seasons of Sarah Walker growth and bring back grahams wild card enforcer to beat down Chuck

I do hope they fix this in a good way

So from the look of the promo Sarahs going to be using Chuck to get the Intersect for Quinn

    Poor Chuck

  27. Besides getting the answers to everything that led up to the finale, I hope Chuck would end the way it started: full of heart–> Isn’t that how we all get hooked from the very beginning?!

  28. Here’s what I’m hoping for

I think there’s 2 secrets: Sarah’s new mission is she’s planning to kill Chuck and she’s pregnant.

In the finale’s end, they will be moving into the beach house as she plays along with him (as a cover – still in blank memory spy mode). She’ll beat Chuck within an inch of his life without him really fighting back (she’s worth dying for) in the dream house but in the final struggle before killing him she’ll knock over her jewelry box, and three things will fall out.

First, she’ll see the charm bracelet and have a “flashback” which will stop her fighting. It’ll remind her that Chuck was like a boyfriend to her, he was the only person in her life that she had that cared (when Chuck taught Sarah about how appreciating Morgan as a best friend and later taught Sarah that Chuck she had someone who cared).

Second, she’ll see the fake wedding ring she kept for the Suburb’s assignment- another flashback- the first time she allowed herself to think of a life outside the spy world – a close to perfect life with Chuck and then look down at her real wedding rings.

Third, she’ll see the USB memory stick that Corina give her from the vault theft – that Chuck is a noble guy, loves her, wants to be with her, and became spy to help others and be with her.

She’ll look around the room and see Chuck’s plastic guitar – remember the 1st time she realizes and admits to herself and aloud to Chuck she loves him. Maybe she’ll remember the “Tooth” (Chuck’s mental meltdown) and what she said to Chuck’s CIA shrink.

Chuck will lead her over to the door jam and have her trace over her name with the knife so she’ll remember that “she” started this carving because she wanted this life with him.

Chuck will lead her out to the beach (“Toes In The Sand”) behind the house and give her the sketch he drew on the bullet train – they want to build a family together and they’ll sit in the sand watching the sun rise (pilot) and he’ll tell her about their first date (pilot Epi 1-1) – she said he needed to trust her and now she needs to trust him – her memory will come back to her. She’ll tell Chuck she’s pregnant
we’ll find out they’re expecting a girl – to be named Sam(antha) Lisa Bartowski (for Sarah’s real name and life she never had.

  29. chuck the movie in 3d. and the 3d glasses are intersect glasses

  30. Hello. I absolutely wished to firmly leave a nice brief observation and let you understand that I’ve been reading your personal web page for quite some time. Keep up the very extraordinary work and I am going to be checking back again consistently once again.

  31. Another good post.
