Chuck Writer Nicholas Wootton Heads Back to Crime Fighting

Writer Nicholas Wootton joined the Chuck team in season 4, bringing with him a wealth of experience in the crime genre. The NYPD Blue vet is returning to his roots with a new pilot project, Golden Boy, about “one cop’s meteoric rise from officer to detective to Police Commissioner,” according to TVLine. Chi McBride will co-star as the cop’s more cynical partner in the pilot, commissioned by CBS for consideration in the 2012-2013 lineup.

  1. This is a good move for Wootton. He seemed like a fish in a tree writing for Chuck. It’s no co-incidence that the sparkle of the first 3 seasons disappeared with the en-masse exit of Adler/Rosenbaum/Miller/Borow etc. Not that Wootton was at fault here. It’s just that the others were a tough act to follow. Now he’s back in his comfort zone, the criminal procedural, where I’m sure he will excel.
