2012 In Review: The Supporting Cast – Mekenna, Bonita, Scott, Mercedes, Carrie-Ann

In addition to our usual Chuck Year in Review feature, coming later this month, we thought it would be fun to take a look at what some of the Chuck cast and crew have done this year following the end of the series. See the complete round up here.

We’ve taken a look back at what the Chuck series regulars have been up to in 2012, but what about our favorite supporting characters? Here are some highlights from the lives of Mekenna Melvin, Bonita Friedericy, Scott Bakula, Mercedes Masohn, and Carrie Ann Moss.

Mekenna Melvin joined on-screen boyfriend Joshua Gomez in his short stoner comedy/possible pilot project Buds, the trailer for which is available on YouTube (warning: NSFW). She also had a role in the short film Objects in the Rearview, a drama about college friends nearing 30 who take stock of their lives so far (no release date yet), and guest starred in an episode of Vegas on CBS (which co-stars Carrie-Ann Moss). Mekenna also stepped behind the camera to co-create and direct the comedy short The Family Actor

For 2013, Mekenna has the independent sci-fi movie Thrillseekers the Indosheen in the can and ready for release. Keep up with Mekenna on Twitter!

Bonita Friedericy has been keeping busy in front of and behind the camera. She had a guest appearance in an episode of Castle, as a nun, in November and co-starred in the horror flick The Lords of Salem which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival and is now showing at film festivals around the world. Coming up in 2013, watch for Bonita to guest star in an episode of Justified airing February 5 on FX, and as a supporting character and producer of the film The Prop is the Girl, a look at sexual abuse and drugs based on a true story.

Scott Bakula reconnected with NBC when he starred in the comedy pilot Table for Three in the spring and guest starred in an episode of Law & Order: SVU in the fall. Scott also had a multi-episode arc on the final season of Desperate Housewives as Bree van de Camp’s lawyer and third husband.

Coming up in 2013, Scott has four films in various stages of completion, including the Liberace bio Behind the Candelabra for HBO and high school dramedy Geography Club which co-stars another Chuck alum, Ana Gasteyer.

Mercedes Masohn spent most of her year filming the FOX series The Finder and the ABC series 666 Park Avenue (with Chuck producer/director Robert Duncan MacNeill), landing series regular spots in both (now canceled) shows. In between those projects, Mercedes guest starred in the pilot episode of Common Law, appeared in Joshua Gomez’s project Buds (along with Mekenna Melvin), and had supporting roles in feature films Slightly Single in L.A. and General Education.

Find out what Mercedes does next by following her on Twitter.

Carrie-Ann Moss went from a recurring role on Chuck to a lead role in the hit CBS series Vegas opposite Dennis Quaid and Michael Chiklis. She had co-starring roles in two films, Knife Fight and Silent Hill: Revelation 3D, this year and will co-star with Heather Graham in Compulsion in 2013.
