Friday Five: Songs That Still Remind Me of Chuck

This week’s Friday Five comes from longtime ChuckTV contributor/recapper Cay. Take a musical walk down memory lane.

Recently, I was listening to the radio and Bon Jovi’s “Blaze of Glory” came on. I realized that my first association was with a certain Jeffster music video. Thinking about it, I realized that even 3 years after the final episode, there are a number of songs that take me back to Chuck, so I thought I’d share them with you all. Feel free to include yours in the comments!

1. “Rivers and Roads” by the Head and the Heart

The last song we ever heard on Chuck, it played as Chuck and Sarah kiss on the beach and the credits rolled in Chuck vs the Goodbye. This haunting song brings me back to that scene and its lyrics about change and moving on couldn’t have been more appropriate to the moment, or to how many fans were feeling at that time.  (Amazon MP3 | iTunes)

2. “Blaze of Glory” by Bon Jovi

It may have been the worst music video ever (well, at least until Rebecca Black’s Friday and it’s ilk), but it was Jeffster, and it made a big impression as it played over Chuck and Shaw’s big confrontation in the Buy More. (Amazon MP3 | iTunes)

3. “One October Song” by Nico Stai

They played this song when Shaw killed Papa B, and also again when Chuck’s childhood home (and Papa B’s secret vault) blew up. When I hear it, I’m taken back to both scenes. (Amazon MP3 | iTunes)

4. “Short Skirt/Long Jacket” by Cake

As the Chuck theme song, this one’s a no brainer – I can’t think of anything BUT Chuck when I hear it. (Amazon MP3 | iTunes)

5. “Push It” by Salt-N-Pepa

By far their most inappropriate performance, this creepy and hilarious serenade of the maternity ward while Ellie was giving birth was hilarity at its finest, at least until they got dragged out by hospital security. The song will forever now take me back to that maternity ward. Thanks, Jeffster! (Amazon MP3 | iTunes)
