Man-izzle my man!  Wow, this epi was hilarious, as usual.  Zach is such a good actor.  Weapon-con?  Fantastic!  I'd love to attend!

As for Awesome, the guy has been subjected to some pretty extreme circumstances as of late.  He was just a doctor living a typical American lifestyle, then, all of a sudden, he finds out that his brother-in-law is a CIA agent and just knowing Chuck puts both himself and his wife in danger.  The more he interacts with Chuck, the greater the potential for danger is.

I agree to an extent. I just think it was a little extreme.

And what was with Awesome freaking out over the tickets?  That was definitely NOT awesome.  ::)  Didn't feel too consistant with the character they built for him.  I know he's a little freaked out from his last spy encounter, but this seemed a little much.  Anyone else think so?

I posted my take on Awesome in another thread, but it actually fits in here pretty well, as his inability to lie really came forward in this ep the most.

I think Awesome´s inability to lie is very much in character and I actually enjoy how this plays out. He is that awesome guy, because he is completely sincere about everything. If he just would be extremly successful in his professional and personal life without being the very sincere and truthful guy, he would be horribly arrogant and cocky.

As it is, he hardly thinks his archievements are anything special while not being falsely humble about them either. It makes him quite likeable and naturally a very bad liar. There never really was a need for him to lie, as everything was working out so well for him, that he always could tell the truth.

So I think forcing him to lie about something for once, is a nice way to have the character develop. I really enjoy that there is character growth for nearly everyone on the show and not just for Chuck. It makes the whole environment and dynamic between the characters much more realistic.

:-\  And I really dislike that they are lauching an investigation.  I don't like the Ellie-Chuck tension.  I think there is enough tension between he and Sarah and he and Awesome.  But just my opinion.

Agreed.  His attitude was too over the top for me as well.  I just found him annoying in this ep actually.

Except he had no problem lying/covering for Chuck during his wedding.   I know that was before he really grasped what it is that Chuck does, but still.    a little too far a swing on the pendulum for me.  <shrug>

Sure he had. Don´t you remember his scene with Ellie in the kitchen, when she was asking, if he had seen Chuck?

Clair is right about his personality. He is almost more freaked out over the lying part than the danger it self. That is what makes it so fun when he blocks all common sense out. Remember he only knew fragments of the whole picture so there are a lot left to his imagination. To be honest I think any of us would have a hard time to keep control over our selves if we have had his near death experience without really knowing what was going on.

I dunno.  I find seeing Cpt Awesome being totally un-awesome at something quite funny and very humanizing.  Before he was just a characture of the ultimate frat boy amazing dude.  Now we see that he's a normal person who's natural talents made life easy for him, but now is kind of a fish out of water and is struggling, whereas Chuck made the same transition with much less pain.  A very great foil for Chuck.

If Morgan finds out think how he will feel, he was dissappointed to be last to know about dating Jill again.
Imagine if Ellie finds out, it's not just Devon & Chuck but Sarah too, fallout will be huge, she is big on no secrets and trust, can't get any bigger secret than what there hiding.
Whoever finds out, I hope they explain everything, from the minute he opened Bryce's e-mail, to Sarah's role or maybe keep Sarah & Casey out of it.
Then there's also Dad, the connections are endless.

Same. I love Captain Awesome...how can you not? He's awesome! There's just something endearing, though, to see him struggle with something that is not coming naturally to him. And it's lying, the guy simply cannot lie without coming unglued. Isn't that a great thing to be a total washout at? It makes me love the Captain all the more.

Absolutely loved this very entertaining episode. That guest star was one of the "luckiest" guest stars ever for obvious reasons. I also liked this episode as a way to show the changes and evolution of Chuck since the day he first met Sarah. Interesting to see Chuck "burning" an asset, while Sarah has risked her life and career again and again to keep Chuck and his family from having to go underground.
Loved the ode to Chuck and Sarah's first meeting. I like to think that while it was love at first sight for Chuck, Sarah also started falling for Chuck after witnessing his encounter with the little ballerina girl and her father. Maybe that could be a gauge to how much Chuck changes. When he no longer has the time or desire to help fathers of little ballerinas, then perhaps there is no going back!
As a side note in revisiting the pilot episode, I wonder if Chuck ever figured out it was Sarah as the ninja who tried to steal his computer? Might be funny to revisit that great scene between them!

Hey Mel,

I just listened to the latest podcast (excellent job by everyone) and your comments regarding not letting your nieces watch, at least certain parts.

I watched with my wife and 13 year old and I must say there was a lot of raised eyebrows between my wife and I while Sarah was "handling" Manoush.

I agree with you and have not let the 10 year old watch yet (he hasn't asked). If he does want to see the episode there will be some fastforwarding happening.

The scene in the bar was OK and I can see how it went with the story. The scene in the bedroom / castle seemed a little gratuitous to me.

I also find that the multi-layered stories seem a little more difficult for the kids to follow.

Please understand these are just some thoughts and we will all be tuning in tonight, an hour before most of everyone else  ;) (another reason to pick on Canadians :) )
