Episodes 3.14 to 3.19; worth the ride?

As someone else pointed out, we don't have a topic dedicated to the back 6. So voilą!

You know the drill.

I'm much more thrilled by the back 6 than season 3.1, although the feel is really different. It's setting up the new dynamics pretty well, though, they had nice moments, there's two episodes weaker than the others in my opinion (namely 3.15 and 3.16).

I'll write more thoughts about each episodes later, too tired right now.

Too bad the tone of first 12 sucked so bad then.

The last seven episodes essentially saved the show Chuck from the wrecking ball, IMO. The experiment that was the first 13 did not pan out. I know TWD, you saw character growth. The positive growth to me was in the Casey and Morgan characters, negative growth (you know what I mean) was in the Chuck and Sarah characters, at least for the bulk of the first 13, which was to long and too dragged out.

I also know that I can't change diddly poo about it.

The back 6 was a much stronger effort overall.  Weakest one was 3.15, Role Models, but even that was fun overall.

Which for you must make back 6 even that much better.   

3.07 had 10 bad minutes and 3.08 had about 5 bad minutes.

3.01 - 3.06 were very good to excellent.  As were 3.09 - 3.13.

 Far, far cry from all sucking.

I wish I could, but I can't agree with you.

The show didn't deliver to me on a pile of different levels in the first 12. Call me a Chuck/Sarah fan if you will but I find that the show works better when the relationships are functioning on some level as they were in the back six.

That's why I also preferred the back 6 (I'm a Chuck/Sarah fan), though I liked many of the first 13 episodes.

Hem, while it is true that the back 6 couldn't have happened without the first 13 (especially 3.13), might I remind you that we are here to discuss the back 6, not the first 13? Thank you!

I thought 3.01 was awful, along with the last third of 3.07, most of 3.08, and 3.11.   3.02 and 3.03 were better than average, along with 3.06.  3.04, 3.05, and 3.12 were "meh" - OK, but nothing spectacular.  3.09, 3.10, and 3.13 were the best of the lot.   In the back 6, I thought the weakest of the run was 3.15, and that was mainly because it seemed to be a bit forced - and the ending with Beckman just came across as stilted.

If I had to rate them it would probably be 18, 19, 14 & 17 (too close to call) 16 & 15.

All are still on my PVR, and a couple have made it to the iPod.

Absolutely; I loved every episode.

If this is a condensed version of what the overall feel of S4 is going to be like; I can't wait. I would happily watch a full season containing a selection of these types of episodes.

Well done for starting the thread Mr_H, I was getting fed up with the issues of earlier episodes turning up on every thread. I really shouldn't have been surprised to see them on this thread as well. Pleased to see you are on the ball.

I loved 3.18 and 3.19, best episodes of the season IMO, however on the whole I preferred the first 13 episodes than the back six. Sacrilege, I know. The thing is that, while I couldn't stand Shaw, I found 3.14 - 3.16 far too cheesy for my tastes. I really enjoyed 3.17, expecially Casey-Sarah-Chuck interrogation, I love when Team B shares a scene, that's why I'm not overly fond of Sarah/Chuck and Casey/Morgan dynamics

3.18 best episode of the season.  And the series.

Then 3.19, 3.17, 3.14, 3.16, and 3.15.

None of these episodes - especially 3.14 - would have been possible without the character growth of the first 13.

Don't think of these episodes as being part of a ride but as payoff for the first 13.

Now that the characters have been properly positioned at the end of S3 looking forward to the mix of previous seasons and S3 going into S4.  Definitely feel the best is yet to come.

3.18 & 3.19 were clearly the best episodes of the back six and maybe the season.  After those two it's 3x14, 3x17, 3.16, 3x15. 

Role Models was just meh for me.  Not awful but felt like filler.  The idea was fine if a bit cheesy but it didn't really deliver. 

Tooth was also a bit empty for me as well.  Maybe I just felt they could have been developing the faulty intersect more previously (the one comment in 3x11 about intense dreams is it as far as I know).

Otherwise I think it was a good run of episodes.
