FAQ: Why is the link to another site broken?

(1/2) > >>

dzeims:
In many cases a forum member will post a web address to audio or video Chuck material (interviews, previews, etc).

If clicking on that link takes you to a page saying that the page is not found, or an error number 404, check the link's address.
If it contains the name(s) of some of the characters in Chuck, the first letter in each of their names may have been automatically capitalized.
For some websites this means that the web address posted in the forum will no longer be valid.
These cases can usually be remedied when visiting the link by changing the web address so that all of the uppercase letters in characters' names to lowercase and trying again.

Example: http://sample.com/someEvent2009/interview/Chuck_and_Sarah01

Here, the forum has auto corrected the spelling of "Chuck" and "Sarah".  For this address to work, the two changes need to be made: the first "C" in Chuck needs to be a "c", and the "S" in Sarah needs to be "s".

No problem.  Noticed it has been coming up more lately as an issue, for newer forum members in particular.  Wasn't sure if this might be more helpful here, or over in the spoilers section where links also get posted.

AgentMel:
Yes, it's that pesky autocorrect feature I had to implement for the cast and character names because I got tired of having to edit posts to correct spelling and capitalization. It does interfere with some links, unfortunately.

I thought web addresses were case proof  :-\
