In reply to Pat. Use logic.....this scenario only works if Adam Baldwin were leaving the show, which he isn't. Therefore after story arch plays out he'll return to Team B.

While his personal issues may play a role in his decision, this is a man that needs to be part of the action and was willing to give up the girl he supposedly loved in order to gain a place on a more elite team. I believe that he could very well have professional reason to be tempted by her offer.
It isn’t simply that Casey’s cover has been tending bar. The comment is indicative of his changing role on missions and on the team. Casey has been relegated more and more to being the agent stuck in the van, working surveillance while Chuck and Sarah are in the field. It wouldn’t surprise me if he feels underused and superfluous now that Chuck has become a full agent.
Such feelings might be especially keen given that last week he not only was assigned to the van, but while Chuck planned his commando drop to save Sarah, Casey was given the job of being the lookout (even if he did end up capturing Gaez). Then he got taken out by the CIA equivalent of the Powerpuff girl Bubbles.
Also, leaving Team B does not necessarily mean leaving L.A. Both of his potential teammates worked in L.A. and the Buymore is now a full NSA/CIA substation that could support more than one team.

I thought some of the things you mentioned, but could not see it as clearly as you obviously did here. These reasons, I believe, will be accurate reasons why Casey temporarily leaves the team.

In reply to Doctor Bob. Hello Doctor Bob: I had to comment on your analysis of Casey. I think it hss a lot of merit. The manner you have outline Casey's motiviation makes a lot of sense. We have seen elements as you stated for reasons that Casey might wish to leave. Also, I remember a conversation he had with Alex (can't remember the episode) where he stated to Alex that he felt he was getting soft and that he would not be as effective when he would get a new assignement. He stated that he needed to be sharp and indicated that maybe his current assignment has soften him up some. Anyway, great analysis on your part. I did not see all these elements you stated, initially.

NCS is a division of the CIA. Casey works for the NSA, so he is considering a cross-agency jump. (He once said a dead CIA agent is a gold star in his book). And why? Because he tends bar as a cover on missions? Sarah has worn a Nerd Herd outfit or played the drunken floozie when called on, and Chuck has played a waiter. When the need for a sniper arose, Casey was the one to ice Rafe Kruger. I think his reason for wanting to leave is more personal than professional. He has struggled with the development of feelings, and has questioned the wisdom of making friends. I think that Casey feels like the odd-man out in the trio since Chuck and Sarah bonded, sees his daughter slipping away to Morgan, and Kathleen to her new beau. Much as broken-hearted Sarah retreated into the familiar lovelessness that Shaw offered in season 3, Casey is tempted into the familiarity of lone-wolfhood.
