It appears that less and less people across the board are watching TV on Monday nights (I believe this happened last year). Does NBC take this into consideration or do they ignore it and just look at Chuck’s numbers?
And, is Chuck really competing against the other networks’ shows or is it competing among NBC’s own scripted shows? If it’s the latter, I would think it has as good a chance of renewal as any of the other shows. I mean what other shows could NBC put on Monday night that would do better against their competition! Wasn’t Chuck doing much better before DWTS started their spring run?
My opinion is, NBC has this established show (4 years) that has rabid, loyal fans. Why not renew it for 13 episodes, put it on another night and see how it does? Why not give it a fair chance for a change? And promote it! Man, this show has one of the most talented and beautiful actresses on TV – why don’t they promote the heck out of her?? It seems like NBC is perfectly OK sacrificing this great show on Monday nights – for what?
]]>Just thought of one quick thing to add to my envisioned scenario. NBC should take a hint from what Fox did with Fringe. Fringe wasn’t doing well on the night it was originally airing on and the fans spoke up and said to move it to Friday. Fox accepted the suggestion and now I believe Fringe is the most watched show on Friday night.
I also can’t believe that it seems like the “change the time slot” message from Chuck fans has never gotten to NBC. If it has and they didn’t accept it, then dang, NBC is a lot more stupid than even I thought.
]]>Also, I thought I’d share a little scenario that I’ve envisioned: NBC renews Chuck for season 5, announces that it’s the final season, and moves Chuck to Fridays. Now personally I wouldn’t mind if they moved it to Friday because Monday isn’t doing any good. Anyway, NBC moves it to Fridays because that’s where TV shows go to die. But, Chuck is unique and different than other shows in many ways, and this is one of them. In the process of moving it to Fridays, NBC will also finally at long last correct the one huge mistake they keep making: not changing the time slot. But of course the idiots won’t realize this. Then, because of the drastic reduction in the amount of competition (finally), all of a sudden the show will start constantly getting 2.5s and 3s because all those people who watch House and DWTS, etc. will finally be able to watch it and NBC will be sitting there in stunned silence with their jaws on the floor thinking “OMG. How did we not figure this out earlier?” Then they’ll realize that they need to order more episodes and the rest is history.
Lastly, quick question for Mel or whoever might know the answer: does anybody know exactly how much impact/influence each survey/game taken/played on RewardTV has on the demo rating and/or number of viewers?
