NBC sent out screeners of Chuck 4.06, “Chuck vs. the Aisle of Terror”, which is part of their week of Halloween-themed episodes. Linda Hamilton and Robert Englund guest star. Instead of a regular review, I thought I’d treat you all to some spoilers.
- The Sarah Meets Mama B scene will probably be your favorite – The episode has plenty of fine scenes, but this is a standout. How could it not be with Yvonne Strahovski and Linda Hamilton facing off? You could cut the emotions filling the space between them with a knife, or a well-placed line from Chuck.
- It’s all about the mamas – Honey Woodcomb (Morgan Fairchild) returns to “help tidy up” and give mother-to-be Ellie advice. Ellie’s reaction is a combination of exasperation and wistfulness. In the meantime, Chuck has conflicting emotions about seeing Mary Bartowski for the first time in 20 years. Being shot by her doesn’t help much.
- Chuck doesn’t lie! – This is perhaps the most honest Chuck we’ve seen…ever. It’s unexpected (but welcome) in a couple of cases, funny in another, and poignant in yet another.
- Morgasey is back in action – The unlikely duo undertake a side mission that has a major impact on the Mama B storyline. It also gives us a teeny bit of info about Casey’s past and some clever quips.
- JEFFSTER decorates for Halloween – The creepy duo seem like the obvious choice to decorate the Buy More for Halloween, but when they try to go for the psychological freak out, it’s a big FAIL. For most people.
“Chuck vs. the Aisle of Terror” airs Monday, October 25 at 8/7c on NBC.
Is the Casey/Morgan mission supposed to be a good or a bad thing concerning the Mama B story? And just out of curiosity, why does it have to be just Casey and Morgan now? I miss scenes with Casey and Chuck so much. 🙁
I liked the Sarah and Ma B scene though I feel guilty now that I’ve spoiled for myself.
Looking forward to seeing Mama W and Ellie should be funny. 🙂
should be a fun episode thanks Mel. 🙂 YAY for CHUCK Halloween style!!!!1
I miss scenes with Casey and Chuck, too. Casey was and still is, Chuck´s mentor, and I would love to see them both on a mission NOW, when Chuck is a full fledged agent.
Mel, I see what you mean about the Sarah/Mama B scene. It left me with a feeling in my gut that rivals the one I got when Sarah executed Mauser. I had to reach for the Tums. I had to remind myself to breathe. This should stack up to be one of the most memorable episodes.
We didn´t have a single Chuck/Casey mission in YEARS and now they are turning it into Casey/Morgan show. No, and no. Casey should be with the team, Chuck, Casey and Sarah. I think it has to do something with my aversion to Morgan (and his tendency to care too much about other people´s personal lives – specifically Chuck) but I don´t like this too much. It was OK in last episode and made sense because of Morgan dating Alex. But I hope they are not overdoing it 🙁
*sigh*
OK, I admit, I am overreacting a little but I really LOVE the little interactions between Chuck and Casey. Their chat about Chuck´s future when Casey was forced to leave the spy life and said to Chuck “Walker´s a good woman” was so well made and so touching, that I just miss these scenes. I wish to see more 🙁
I like the Casey/Chuck scenes, too, but I’m also enjoying watching his friendship with Morgan grow. In this instance, he’s sort of repaying the favor for what Morgan did for him at the end of 4.05 which is character growth for both of them. So what I’m saying is, how about we don’t get all negative about something before we see it?
hahaha…good one Mel.
I hear ya Mel I hear ya. 😕
Actually we did have one Casey/Chuck scene and that was in the Anniversary. It was brief but it was a favorite for me cause I love how close AB and ZL characters are now. And I want the WHOLE team to be together and not just going by twos all the time. 🙁
I have to admit, I love those episodes where you see the whole team together Chuck, Sarah, Casey and Morgan. We had that in the tail end of Anniversary and we also had it for the funeral and final part of Couch Lock so far this season and I hope we see more of that. We also had Chuck, Casey and Sarah together in Coup, which was also great.
One combination I would love to see for a mission is Sarah/Morgan and Chuck/Casey. I loved the Sarah/Morgan interaction in Living Dead and hope we get to see more scenes of those 2.
I think one of the strengths of this show is that the actors can be grouped in several different combinations and they still have amazing chemistry.
Good idea. Sarah/Morgan episode would be really interesting.
yeah, that would be a good idea! the last sarah/morgan scene was hilarious! i’d be looking forward to more of that! hahaha!
I don’t mean any disrespect to anyone but clearly some people don’t handle change very well. How can the show progress if it continues to do what it’s always done? Chuck is a spy and in a relationship with Sarah so it follows that the dynamic of Team Bartowski will change. I love the way the characters are developing in season 4 and it is very quickly becoming my favorite season of the entire series.
Post of the day! No week! No, no. Month! Naw! Of the series!
People fear change. Right Sarah Walker? 😉
Which is why procedural shows are so popular. 🙁
You got it in one Old Darth. Sarah fears change whereas Chuck is much more adaptable.
I digress from the Friday Five but “101 conversations before I do” appears to be helping Sarah come around to Chuck’s way of thinking, however, I think Ep7 may blow that theory right out the water! 🙂
I don’t mind change per say Jas101, I just don’t want change to come so fast or in huge doses. I love it when the whole team’s together and I’m ok with pair of twos now and then but wen they start to do that kind of thing a lot then it bugs me and makes me wish for a swtcheroo of duos of have the whole team together again.
Amen! The show isn’t the same as it was in S1. It’s different, and that’s a good thing.
BTW, ever since Chuck and Sarah became partners in all things, Casey has for all intents and purposes become a 3rd wheel. At least with the Morgan stuff, his story can continue to be interesting.
To quote the words of Chuck in “vs The Coup De’etat”: “Change is unavoidable. Life is full of changes, constantly changing and the question is, no matter what the changes are, is the love still there?” I think so … we all love Chuck and will stick by the show no matter what!!! 🙂
I realized that I haven’t really directly addressed what’s in the Friday 5.
I would just like to say from the promo I have seen this is going to be another great episode of Chuck, and I can’t wait until monday.
I’m thinking Mama B shooting Chuck, if not a dream sequence, will have been arranged between Chuck and Mama B to protect her cover with Volkoff (yes I’m saying she’s not one of the bad guys). However, from Sarah’s reaction I don’t think she was in on it and this will be the reason they have their first fight in the following episode.
I’m also guessing Chuck getting shot will be the cliff hanger ending of the episode so we wont know for sure what has happened until the following episode or at least until the spoiler comes on for the next episode.
If it is the cliff hanger ending, I would be quite happy if they didn’t have a very detailed promo at the end of the episode. Wouldn’t it be really cool if they showed absolutely no scene with Chuck in it for the promo of the following week?
Do you think he’s and Sarah’s fight will be near the end of the episode (kind of a downer ending I know. 🙁 ) but it would set the stage for the First Fight the following week.
If they have that as a cliffhanger, at least we can be thankful its not one of the weeks Chuck is skipped. Can you imagine if they left it like that at the end of November and we didn’t know what really happened until January?
yup from the fans POV it wouldn’t be pretty.
Awesome Spoilers Mel. Thank you for these I always find them fun. Really looking forward to this episode, looks like it’s gonna be fantastic.
Chuck NOT lying is long overdue. Cannot wait to see this episode.
I hope it’s not a cliffhanger ending…cuuuuuz…I hate those! Haha I think I’d rather have chuck and Sarah fighting at the end than it end with chuck on the floor shot…hahaha
Thanks for the spoilers–I look forward to a really exceptional episode.
This episode is going to be amazing. I agree with a lot of the cliffhanger comments. One of them, about it being the what, the November sweeps cliffhanger, where we don’t know what happens until January, oh wouldn’t that be interesting and not cool at the same time. Not fun for the Chuck fans, but, oh how interesting.
Another comment I agree with is, the promo for the next episode. It shouldn’t have Chuck in it at all, just the whole Team/Family Bartowski. Talk about a teaser preview. Oh, the excitement of that next episode.
This episode will be great, can’t wait.
I’m gonna second, third and fourth the idea that Chuck not lying is a GOOD THING ™. I’ve been quick to point out that Chuck has been put in some difficult spots and has never had any malice when he’s been, um, reticent (?) with the truth. I mean, I can’t say I’d do any better if I had an Intersect in my head and Sarah on my arm.
But it sure feels better when he comes clean.
You’ve got a great touch with the spoilers, Mel!
Jeff and Lester decorating the Buy-More:
MWA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA!!!!
I can’t wait to see this episode tomorrow!! This is going to be AMAZING!!!! Jeff and Lester are two of my favorite characters, and my third favorite duo on the show behind 2. Morgan and Casey and 1.(duh) Chuck and Sarah. Heck yes. See you on Monday.
I was hoping for another Halloween party, maybe this time at the Buy More. Season 1 vs. the Sandworm ep was a blast. Anyway, strong episode and hopefully the momentum of the story will kick in. Can’t wait for the next 18 eps. 🙂
