Per TV Line’s Matt Mitovich, it appears that the title of Chuck episode 4.16 has been changed from “Chuck vs. the First Mate” to “Chuck vs. the Masquerade”. Mitovich was on the set last week during filming and chatted with Yvonne Strahovski, as we noted in this week’s preview. In the comments, he answered a reader who wondered which episode they were shooting:
They were shooting Episode 16, “Chuck vs the Masquerade,†when I visited Yvonne, Zach, Josh, Adam and “others†on location last week.
Thanks to the feisty goat for catching that change!

Oh.. Chuck vs the Masquerade, huh? Well that throws off my possible “First Mate” being a best man, thing. D:

Well that totally changes the direction of my speculation.

Wasn’t Masquerade the name of a movie with Cary Grant and Audrie Hepburn in which Cary Grant played a US agent trying to protect Audrie?
Or am I confused with something else?

They also I heard borrowed part of the funeral in Couch Lock from that film Charade.
Masquarade was a spy show that aired for a few months in the early 80′s where a spy orginization whould enlist ordinary people with special skills to help on a mission each week, their cover was a travel agency tour group which enabled them to travel the world.

“The Masquerade” is also a term used to describe a condition where a group keeps their existence hidden from the rest of the world.

If any of the CHUCK eps needs a title change it should be the one titled “Chuck vs. the Bank of Evil” or whatever. Lol that name is so weird it makes me laugh. Though I can’t complain because its probably going to be an epic ep just like all the other eps in the CHUCK series.

They probably saw the discussion that we had about there being too many “first”s in the titles. Yes Chucksters, we may have the power to persuade…
