Chuck co-creator Josh Schwartz has been picked to write the next installment of the X-Men film franchise, according to Variety. The film is currently titled X-Men: First Class and focuses on the younger mutants at the Xavier Institute for Higher Learning. Schwartz is expected to bring a “next-gen sensibility” to the film, which could result in its own set of spinoffs. No start date has been announced; the next X-Men film, X-Men: Wolverine, is due Summer 2009.
