Dancers Return, Chuck’s Numbers Drop

ABC’s Dancing with the Stars returned last night, and Chuck‘s numbers dropped to about 5.7 million in the fast overnights. Ouch. All of the non-ABC network shows experienced big drops last night, so at least our boy wasn’t targeted specifically.

In happier news, DVR numbers are out for “Chuck vs. the Suburbs”, bumping that episode’s viewers to about 7.725 million. Will this week’s episode get a major bump from DVR numbers? Here’s hoping!

Zachary Levi introduces the new Nerd HQ

A couple of weeks ago, I posted about the possibility of Nerd HQ’s return. Well, …

  1. It’s obvious that Monday is just too packed with good television to let a good program survive. I’ve maintained all along that Chuck is one of the freshest, funniest shows on television with an amazing cast and a very loyal audience. Zachary Levi is endearing, charming, totally believable as a wanna be spy/nerd/all around good guy. Yvonne Strahovski is one of the most remarkable young actresses I’ve seen in a long, long time. She is beautiful, talented and owns whatever scene she is in. She is a throwback to the oldtime Hollywood actresses who can convey any emotion she wishes without uttering a word. Her face truly speaks volumes. I’ve been a huge fan of Adam Baldwins for as long as I’ve seen him on anything and the rest of the cast is a joy to watch each week. Unfortunately, DWTS is back and seemingly unstoppable. I don’t really get it but this show has a loyal following that will not waver. The CBS shows are very funny and developing a more and more loyal following as time goes on. Now Fox has added House to the mix and I’m not sure if Chuck can survive. I hope that NBC will not give up on this show and consider moving it to another night. I can’t help but think what a lineup Thursday could be were NBC to dump Earl and Kath and Kim, move The Office and 30 Rock to 8-8:30/7-7:30 central and put Chuck on at 9/8 followed by Heroes. This would give NBC a solid night with solid numbers and perhaps return them to the golden days of must see tv. We’ve got to do something to get people watching good old fashioned TV entertainment again and wean the masses from this never ending parade of bad reality TV that consumes and devours any shred of common sense and intelligence.

  2. I agree, John. It definitely is one of the best shows on at the moment but it is in one of the toughest timeslots. A show like Chuck can’t be on a Monday at 8 and be expected to beat DWTS and House. NBC are fools if they that’s their intention, if they have to move it to a different time them do so, as this show is poplar and has a loyal audience but with giants like House, it doesn’t matter what your show is, you’re gonna lose to them.

  3. Ditto to the first two comments. This show is just TOO good for it to be put up against such stiff competition. How many other shows are there that are anything like CHUCK? NONE!! It’s got comedy, drama, romance, creativity, great acting, etc. The show deserves ONE MORE CHANCE in another time slot. And a question. I understand how DVR ratings count somehow in tabulating total viewership. But if someone views CHUCK on the NBC.com site or on hulu or one of those similar sites, does that somehow “count” towards the total number of viewers? It sure seems like it should, because many people don’t watch the programs during the regular broadcast times. Thanks everybody for supporting CHUCK. And pass the word about the petition that will go to NBC to ask them to “Save CHUCK.” It’s at http://petitionspot.com/petitions/renewnbcchuck
Help Save CHUCK!! This show is too good for people to be missing out on because they’re already loyal to shows like DWTS, Bachelor and HOUSE. Chuck is thoroughly, THOROUGHLY entertaining, and there aren’t enough shows like that left on T.V.

  4. Yea you guys are right. “Chuck” is an “awesome” show, but it needs space to grow and attract more viewership. I think that if they put “Chuck” in a less competitive time slot… like Thursday as Evan says, it will be able to steadily attract more loyal audiences, and I’m sure with less competition inthe same time slot, it will soon become “must-see tv”. By then, it might have a chance to take on giants like House and DWTS… but until then, I think it’s just bad stratedy for NBC to put “Chuck” against such tough competition since season 1.It’s like they don’t even give it room to grow.,

  5. If NBC decide to axe chuck its going to be such a bad move. Chuck is the best show on television and it has a bit of everything. Do NBC really think they can produce another great show that can do any better in the ridiculously competitive timeslot they give chuck? If they do i think they are living on cloud 9… All we can do is hope and keep the faith in the writers. I still find it hilarious that chuck is not even getting 6 mil viewers, where dancing with the stars gets 23 mil. IMO people just don’t have a clue what good television is anymore..

  6. I am old enough to have watched TV pretty much since it’s inception ,and I have never been in love with a show before like I am with Chuck. I’ve liked a lot of shows, and love the Office, but my feelings for Chuck are way beyond anything I’ve felt for a TV show before. It really has everything. Laugh out loud comedy, heartfelt drama, a Jim and Pam romance, and the intrigue of the spy world. Not to mention a great cast and talented writers. Our whole family gathers together on Monday nights to watch it. I hope it is on for many years to come. It is the only show I will never miss being in front of my TV for and one I would be truly, truly sorry to see canceled.
