Here’s your Chuck news roundup for today:
- Chuck vs. the Podcast has a countdown to D-Day (Decision Day) for Chuck. Only 5 days, 20 hours, 30 minutes and 20 sec…19 sec…18 sec… to go!
- Nikki Finke has a possible NBC schedule posted which puts Chuck on Fridays at 8PM, following by Southland and Leno. Thoughts?
- In case you missed it, Jon Stewart wants Chuck to stick around, too.
- Chuck fans have donated more than $13,000 to the American Heart Association on behalf of Chuck!
- Televisionary’s Jace put in a plug for Chuck with Ben Silverman himself yesterday. Sounds like our campaign is the talk of NBC!
Keep fighting the good fight, Chucksters!
Instead of just talking about doing something, why not submit an iReport about the Have a Heart campaign to CNN.com? Start posting links on other blogs as appropriate. Twitter about it. Do all the things we did for the Watch/Buy/Share/Write campaign and get the word out!
@Matt
Ratings expectations are lower on Friday because ratings usually drop on Fridays. It would be perfect if Chuck could keep the same 2.3 ratings, but unfortunately, history and the rational knowledge that not every single Chuck fan is as devoted as we are, tell me that it’s not likely to happen.
So in the end, fighting on the fridays isn’t so much about doing good on the ratings. It’s about doing better than everyone else. It ammounts to the same I know, but there’s a big difference there.
I actually kinda believe Nikki just rolled the dice and called it inside information just to get another stody on the Chuck renewal drama. She even mentions Chuck on the title (even though it concerns every other show as well) and gives herself an out of jail ticket with the “this may be it” choice of words. Under normal circunstances I wouldn’t care that much since inside intel is usually a nice name for “educated guess” but the thing is that if I had to roll the dice too, Chuck on Friday is where I’d put my money, based on Silverman’s hints. Still some days until the final word, but I for one ain’t expecting a surprise here.
@Odrep – Thanks for the clarification. Didn’t know about that. Maybe that will happen this time if we get enough viewership (if the 13 episodes come to pass as Nikki says).
@Mel – Agreed.
Friday at 8 isn’t bad at all! That would definitely be a better slot to get more viewers than the current one. Fingers crossed!
Odrep: Everybody orders from Amazon normally. I assume they ship overseas?
friday is suicide look at terminator and dollhouse but, i guess it’s better than being cancelled…
Good thing they post it online. That is where I watch it anyway. Fridays are a date night and I thought they were trying to reach a certain age frame. I don’t know, it doesn’t seem like it would be a smart move for the show. Either way I will be watching it online through the website anyway.
Amazon huh? Well laugh as much as you want, but I always tough that was only for books, I really never got into internet shopping. I’ll see if I can pull it off, not sure if they’ll ship the DVD as I’m not supposed to be able to play an american DVD. Well, thanks anyway Dave.
Odrep: You can try and do what I did. I already purchased season 2 from Amazon through their “Video On Demand”. I have the entire season 2 along with an interview with Zach and a panel discussion from Comic Con 2008 loaded on my PC. It’s great.
Good Luck!
Hmmm I kinda prefer the classic DVD box with the cover and all the dvds inside. It has more value that way. But thanks anyway, might be a good solution for some other series I like but don’t love quite as much.
This is exactly what we need:

An AWESOME article on the charity drive.
I am going to email this to USA today. I hope everybody will help spread this article to the media!
Great article Dave. I say we get on the boards, twitter, facebook and get people to “Digg” it.
About Terminator and Dollhouse, aint they at 9 and 10? If fact, with Chuck at 8, friday would become my best TV night, with 3 good show in a row. The are not on the same network, but imo those shows mix well together.
Please do! I only know how to send emails, I am not very savvy about tweeting and that stuff…lol.
If we’re to assume that Finke has provided a farily accurate notional line-up for NBC, all I can say is besides Chuck and Heroes, it’s pretty pathetic. Especially at 10 pm week nights. NBC is going to slip from 4th to 5th next season and it won’t be because of Chuck. Chuck will be a highight for NBC no matter what night it is on.
Friday nights wouldn’t be too bad for true nerds like Jeff and Lester because they don’t date. 😉 Seriously though, it’d probably do as well that night as any other show NBC has.
Personally, I think the best night for Chuck would be at 10 pm on Mondays, on CBS, using The Big Bang Theory as a lead in. It’d certainly beat the snot out of Leno. Alas, that’s another network.
If it is true that nbc put chuck against ghost whisper we have a winner. i watched ghost whisper for several seasons and it has gone down hill. Friday nights are looking up if this is true.. go Chuck
@herba
Sorry to brust your bubble, but the chances of Terminator being around next season seem very slim, and while Dollhouse might be alittle better, not by much.
Sorry for going off topic here folks, now onto the Chuck-related matters, very nice article dave, would love to see news stations picking up the story. Let’s hope 🙂

Just found this, it seems the folks at TVbythenumbers aren’t really buying Nikki’s “inside information” and also denies that Friday Night’s are the wasteland everyone (including myself >_>) pictures.
I for one respect this guy’s opinion and think his words carry sense in that post. I think it’s the most constructive-positive comment I’ve seen on the issue.
Oh and the picture of Sarah Lancaster is just great 🙂
hi chuck i don’t know what to do to get season 3 on the road of entertainment Sahara and Casey help me!!!!
Friday nights? Who watches TV on Friday nights??? This could seriously reduce the number of viewers. Why can’t they put Chuck on Thursdays or at least keep it where it is at (dare I say, replace it with Heroes??)?
Meaning that they would take heroes off the air and give the time slot to Chuck 😉 It’s been a long day…….
Some late breaking, not so great news (well, half a loaf better then none, I guess)

Steve, that tidbit has already been discussed. It’s not unusual for a show to be given a 13-episode order with the back 9 added later. That’s how NBC ordered season 2, ordering the back 9 before the season premiere based on the strength of the first few episodes. IF NBC goes with 13 episodes to start with, that doesn’t mean we won’t end up with a full season after all.
If Chuck fans are serious Friday can work. 8PM eastern time, means I can go out for 9 or 10PM or go to a late movie and usually that’s Saturday anyway. But yes, I understand Friday can be death. But it does mean one more season on DVD.
Actually, I was think about that too awhile ago. I never go out for leisure before 9.30-10.00 and by 8 I still didn’t have dinner to begin with. I don’t know if there’s any american habits attached to this, but on that light 8PM is not that bad of a slot, much better than 10 or even 9.
Actually Friday would be good, I usually have a really hard time choosing Chuck over House, Big bang theory and How I met your mother. There’s nothing much to watch on Friday, although thursday would probably be a much better timeslot
IF – and it’s still “IF” NBC renews CHUCK (please, God!) can someone who has some clout (maybe the good folks who are behind this site) PLEASE tell NBC to put some “new stuff” on the NBC.COM website store in regards to CHUCK! We all know that it’s going to be up to US – the loyal, die-hard fans, to keep spreading the word about CHUCK to other people – to “convert” them in a manner of speaking. I’ve had great success lending out the DVDs or giving them as gifts to people who QUICKLY become CHUCK fans. BUT – we need something more for the next phase of our campaign – to “GROW CHUCK!” I’ve already bought all the Nerd Herd and Buy More hats, tee shirts, and mugs, etc. from the NBC.COM store – but we need something different now. I found “CHUCKAHOLIC” tee shirts and hats and coffee mugs on another web site (can’t remember which one it was), but they’re great. When I wear the hat, people ask me, “What’s a Chuckaholic?” and then the door is open to their “conversion.” I think NBC would obviuosly like to make more money off of CHUCK, so why not “upgrade” the stuff in CHUCK’s store? How about tee shirts or hats that say “CHUCK ME !” (Casey’s line from the finale). You know if someone sees you wearing that they’re going to ask about it – how could they NOT?? That can be the slogan for the next phase of the campaign – the “GROW CHUCK” phase. “CHUCK ME !” Summer is almost here. It’s tee shirt and ball cap season. A perfect time to use ourselves as ads to keep promoting our favorite show. Keep up the great work everybody. If CHUCK survives it’s because of what we’ve been able to do. But that will only be the start of our job, because we want Season 4,5,6 etc., etc., etc., too!!
I’d buy 2 Jeffster sweatbands for sure if they put those for sale, you know, for the fellow musicians 🙂
WEll, Nikki did “assure” us that Chuck was being announced on the 4th, and look where we are now. Based on that, I’m not getting my hopes up (even though i’m already almost certain that Chuck will be renewed) because honestly, MONDAY is Chuckday
Hey gang, if it turns out that CHUCK doesn’t get renewed when the announcement is made on May 19th, then I suggest we all send to NBC what THIS CHUCK unfairly received so many years ago (as an expression of our dissatisfaction). If clicking on the link works, try that. If not, just copy and paste on your browser.

Come on, NBC!! Do the right thing and RENEW CHUCK!!
CHUCK reminds me of the great classic series GET SMART-They just don’t make series like this.
CHUCK is great- The story, the comedy, the characters.
The people putting this show together are doing a great job.
It feels good to laugh and be enthralled- It is said that Laughter is The Best Medicine: This weekly dose is truly needed.
Stargate is probably the best science fiction series after Firefly. Nice visual effects too.,~:
