Here’s your Chuck news roundup for today:
- Chuck vs. the Podcast has a countdown to D-Day (Decision Day) for Chuck. Only 5 days, 20 hours, 30 minutes and 20 sec…19 sec…18 sec… to go!
- Nikki Finke has a possible NBC schedule posted which puts Chuck on Fridays at 8PM, following by Southland and Leno. Thoughts?
- In case you missed it, Jon Stewart wants Chuck to stick around, too.
- Chuck fans have donated more than $13,000 to the American Heart Association on behalf of Chuck!
- Televisionary’s Jace put in a plug for Chuck with Ben Silverman himself yesterday. Sounds like our campaign is the talk of NBC!
Keep fighting the good fight, Chucksters!
CHUCK NEEDS A SEASON THREE!!! my life revolves around chuck!! I dont know what i would do without it!!
I’d prefer Chuck to be on Wednesdays, but if it has to be Fridays, so be it…
Wow on Fridays? I guess that is better than cancellation… 😛
I would love to get another season but my worry is Friday night is where tv shows go to die.
For what it’s worth, Nikki Finke’s story has enough wiggle room to drive a truck through — she says that it “may” be NBC’s final schedule. This reminds me of her prior renewal announcement, where she said something along the lines of “it will be announced on Monday unless the execs decide to mess with our heads.”
@Paul K Which is why I said it’s “a possible NBC schedule”. 😉
Fridays are ripe for a network to grab viewers. So far CBS is fairly uncontested at 8PM with Ghost Whisperer, but that show is aging and a show like Chuck, with it’s multi-generational appeal, could perform quite well there.
Friday. NO.
🙁
It would make fridays all that much better but, i just really enjoy starting my week out with Chuck.
Better than cancellation though. So a smile for that. 🙂
Mel and all,
I sent a letter to Mr. Silverman via express mail, I gave to the AHA, I have watched the Monday night hulu suggestions, I did the footlong, I’ve signed the petitions, sent the emails and all are over the sights. So what, you say, we have all done that.
I know you have and probably much more. can any substantial information be assimilated from an insider at NBC? I just want to know if there is progress, real progress, or is this a quixotic task. Just a little something like the producers or WB and NBC are talking.
Thank you for any thoughts.
Chuck will destroy every other show on Friday. If you look at the show lists for other networks, NBC should finally have a spot that it can win other than late night, which they are giving up by moving Leno.
Chuck will lose some numbers, but with the loyalty of Chuck fans, we should do great. Hopefully winning the time slot will be enough for the network.
@Mark Several outlets report that negotiations are ongoing between the network and the studio. We remain confident that the fan voice has been heard (thanks for pitching in!) and are optimistic about Tuesday’s announcement.
Hi,
as hard as it would be to see it move to Fridays, it would be so refreshing not to have to compete with Dancing With The Stars or House! If this happens, we must do whatever we can to ensure Chuck kicks butt in the ratings and totally owns the Friday night slot — unlike what happened with Terminator SCC.
As much as I personally love TSCC, my group of friends lost interest in it long before it changed nights, so I don’t think its ratings failure is an omen affecting Chuck.
And any renewal news is good news, especially if it is for a full season!
Cheers,
Gray.
Oh noes, not the Fridays…. It kinda makes me wish Saturday was a regular working day so that people can stay at home and watch Chuck (I kinda work every day of the week so it doesn’t matter to me at all lol!).
Well, I’m rooting for Nikki to be wrong about Friday, but my racional side knows this was expected considering what B. Silverman had said about the schedule, it really seems likely, inside information or not. Either way, if this is correct, have no illusions folks, we’re in for some serious struggle to keep Chuck alive when Season 3 ends. As I said sometime ago, it’ll be “Chuck Vs. The Realms Of Death” ’cause that’s what Friday nights are nowadays.
Then again, we can always hope for one of NBC’s other, more well placed, shows to bomb so bad they’ll switch time slots with Chuck… it could happen…
If Friday it is, then Friday it is!!!! I need my Chuck!!!!
Fridays!?!?!? That would be bad. Firdays are for show that the Network want to fail. COME NBC !!!!!!! GIVE US BACK OUR CHUCK MONDAYS!!!!!!!!!!!
although…friday is indeed the kiss of death…..arghh…
Shows can survive on Fridays, look at “Numb3rs” (who will probably be Chuck main opponent if Nikki’s right), 4 seasons and still kicking, so it’s possible, it’s just harder since everyone goes out on fridays.
I feel like a speech…
“Rise up warriors of Buymoria! Your nation has need of you! Will you march into the uncharted and perilous lands of Friday Night to deliver our Chuck to safe haven, sucess, glory and many more seasons?! Will you stand by your show as it preppares to face its toughest challenge yet? Then increase your DVD ammunation, train yourself in the art of recruting soldiers for our cause and increase the numbers of our army, and start today… for the war of ratings will soon be upon us.
I have thought about this issue before today’s rumors.
First off, I was afraid all along that they would pair our show with that fizzled out southland,….and that appears to be what the rumour says. So that is not great because you have a weak line up. Just saying that the buzz on Southland died pretty fast so the schedule combination is a strange one.
Then I was afraid that my secret hopes for a Wednesday night wouldn’t happen….I was one of those people who watched Las Vegas die a rapid death on a Friday night.
So it appears we may get the dreaded line up with southland AND the Friday night. HOWEVER we still need to just try to get some new faces to watch the show and hope it gets moved to a better night eventually. NBC could have a weaker Monday line up than ever, with Heroes and Medium sort of jumping the shark. Medium has taken a ratings hit the last couple weeks when on it’s own.
I still hope that Parenthood and Chuck end up on Wednesdays. But I doubt it.
I guess we need to listen to Gray and find a way to make Chuck come alive on Fridays.
I will be grateful for any amount of episodes on any night….just praying for a little bit better, I think Chuck deserves better.
Guess who made Maxim’s Hot 100

We can do it! Yes we can!
I’ve pre-ordered the season 2 DVDs, and I will make sure they never spend a night at my house!
I’ve personally introduced at least 30 people to Chuck, and I’m 30 for 30 in getting them hooked (of course that’s Chuck’s power, not my own). If all of us committed to finding just one new person a week until September, that’s 20 new people for every devoted fan!
The key, however, is not in how devoted each of us personally is, but rather that we can work together to motivate the largest percentage of the viewership, and spread the word the same way we spread it about the renewal campaign. One person can only do so much, but together — look out!
On the warpath,
Gray.
thank you odrep and gray for the inspirational and hopeful words. indeed, it looks like we are in for a very long haul, not just for renewal but for survival itself.
@odrep, numbers airs at 10, so it’ll be going against (and likely beating soundly) leno.
My husband and I didn’t get into Chuck until this season, but we liked it sooo much, that we try never to miss it. Sometimes we watch missed shows on On Demand (I don’t know how that affects viewer ship ratings?). We also rented the first season so we could understand the background. This is one of the few shows we BOTH like and share together. PLEASE BRING IT BACK! It’s just great fun. We LOVE the characters. And, we miss Tang.
You are right of course jn, my bad, forgot out that “small” detail. And no prob for the inspirational talk, I was alittle shaken at first too, but then I pulled it togheter. Like president O’Bannon… I mean Obama said, Yes we can!
(For anyone who didn’t get it, O’Bannon was a pun at the Chuck comics :P)
Oh and nice find Sean, lets hope she goes up some 20 or more next year 🙂
Mel,
Thank you for the feedback. I appreciate your quick response. I have really become attached to this cause. I want “Chuck” back as well. It would be terrific to see some of the cast at Comic Con this year.
I want this show to get back on the air, then have a nice long run so the characters can breathe and grow.
peace
As long as chuck is on tv again i don’t really care what night it is on. If it happens to be friday we’ll just have to make sure we get people to watch it on that night.
I look forward to hearing/seeing the good news next week.
Please, God, no. Not Friday. ANY OTHER DAY. But not Friday, please…
I just purchased Chuck season 2 on Amazon’s Video on Demand. I was having trouble with the download so I had to speak to customer service. Wouldn’t you know it the customer service rep was a Chuck fan. So after discussing our favorite episodes I told her how to get involved with the cause. We need to recruit from where ever we can.
Chuck Me!
@Mike B Nice one! Way to recruit! 🙂
As bad as Fridays are, it could be a proving ground since chuck will have no competition and most people I know don’t go out until like 930 so if chuck fans are as dedicated as we are and as they say they are, we can recruit more people and get it moved to a better night, but for now…
Any chuck is better then no chuck!!!
Wow Gray is on a roll….30 new viewers is AWESOME! (Spoken in my best Devon accent).
Well if we can raise money for charity like that then passing around a season one video should be simple enough!
Fridays are better than Mondays. Fridays are better than cancellation!
Plus, Saturday nights are the graveyard shift. At least Fridays has some life. Especially when it gets cold and snowy out…I know a lot of people who stay home and watch tv on Fridays.
Now NBC needs to use the fan campaigns in their commercials!
There’s too much negativity here! Saturdays are so much worse than Fridays. I don’t even know what’s on Saturday nights!!
Think positive people! Zachary Levi said in that CNN interview that we need to keep the momentum and excitement going into the fall so Chuck doesn’t get renewed just to get cancelled again. Talk up the positives when telling friends it’s on. Tell them to DVR if they must.
None of this is for sure either. This is just guessing. Who knows what night Chuck will be on…! 🙂
Although I enjy Chuck making mondays live able, friday does seem to be the better time slot.
Better Friday than NO day! If that’s what we get, that’s what we get – then we just have to make it work. It will be nothing short of amazing if we’re able to get CHUCK renewed in the first place – and let’s be honest – if it gets renewed, it will be because of everything we die-hard fans have done. So if it’s Friday – then we WILL make it work!! GO CHUCK!!
I would just like to point out – I know Fridays are typically one of the spots where shows are sent to die (though I agree with other posters that Saturdays are MUCH worse). However, we have NO confirmation that this schedule is official, and as others have said above, remember how accurate Nikki’s last post related to Chuck was.
Don’t forget – there is still a definite chance that at least one of NBC’s fall shows will bomb horribly. They’ll need Chuck then – and I for one think they know it.
And let’s just wait until May 19th anyway. After all, do we really want to take as “gospel” what the person says who originally told us that the renewal of CHUCK was going to be announced on May 4th? She doesn’t know any more than any of us. Make up your OWN schedule, and it’s got just as good a chance as being accurate as hers. She’s just rolling the dice – so let’s just wait until we know for certain before we start flipping out. And again – whatever happens, WE can make it work – even if NBC can’t! Look what we’ve been able to do so far – and we ARE recruiting more and more CHUCK fans every day!
Friday is Sci-Friday to me and Chuck makes a great addition to that line-up. Even though it’s not on the Sci-Fi Channel (hint hint SciFi Network) it’s a great refreshing addition to Friday since the StarGate series have ended. And LOOK at those series….9 seasons for Stargate-SG1, 5 Seasons of SG Atlantis, Dr Who, Battlestar Galactica, etc. Chuck is in the right place. Maybe not the right Network (nudge nudge SciFi Channel). Here’s to some comedy relief at the end of the week when we all REALLY need it.
any day would do as long as CHUCK lives! i’m not just referring for Season 3…also for the next 10 seasons…or longer that is.
Why not look at Friday as a challenge? Look at what has been accomplished in a relatively short period of time by Chuck fans dedicated to seeing the show renewed for a third season. Friday night? So what!! If it happens, I say we continue to keep the ball rolling by getting new people watching, starting friday night Chuck parties, anything to steamroll forward. This has been a blast to participate in so far and I look at a third season as a chance to prove what these fans can do. Friday night? I think Chuck would say, “BRING IT ON!!” Or at the very least Casey would.
My feeling, if chuck ends up on a friday
It will be 3rd and final season of chuck
Whatever happened to TGIF? As many have said, Friday is better than cancellation. Let’s also not forget that Nikki Finke was a little off with her last Chuck prediction… about 2 weeks off.
I was wondering how people up here in Canada can help the ratings? Does me watching it on CityTV make any difference (unless I buy the advertised products)? Oh Nielson, when will you learn…
I really hope that Nikki’s wrong about Friday nights.
I hope they put on Tuesday’s with 30 Rock and The Office.
I come from Europe and we can’t watch Chuck in my country.
I’ve seen two episodes tho’ and I liked it very much.
I’m a very big fan of Kyle XY and we’re also campaigning for saving the show (savekylexy.com).
I want to wish all of you good luck with the campaign and I hope Chuck get’s a 4th season,….as also for Kyle XY!!
Chuck vs. The Kiss of Death:
Well if Chuck is on Friday, Chuck will need our help.
We are poised and coordinated. Look at all we have done to save the show? Ultimately is not the number of people that watch the show, but their buying power that matters. While numbers generally translate to buying power, we can prove them otherwise.
We need to continue to support Chuck in an organized fashion. If we stay organized, even before we are on the ‘bubble’ again, we can keep Chuck alive. We just cannot let our campaign to save Chuck end when his third season begins.
I just read on Ausiello files, that NBC is negioting a 13 episode deal for Chuck Season 3.
See below for the extract from the website…
Question: What’s the latest on Chuck’s renewal? –Dave
Ausiello: Warner Bros. and NBC are haggling over money. Shocking, I know. If a deal can be worked out — and I have every reason to believe it can (and will) be — it’ll be back for a 13-episode third season. BTW, renewal and cancellation scoop is best served instantaneously, so now would be a good time to start following me on Twitter. I’m just sayin’.
Our family, including married children and spouse, come together to watch Chuck every Monday. WE laugh and have fallen in love with the characters. It’s our favorite show and we are dumbfounded that it may be canceled. With so much trash on TV how can these idiots at NBC take this off the air. I can give them a dozen show off the top of my head that should be trashed today and they want to kill the only decent one.
@Mark – I don’t know man. I’ve heard from a lot of posters that back when people were worried about a season 2 everyone kept saying Chuck got renewed for 13 episodes. When the day finally came it was actually a full season. I think it would be very disappointing to see a 13 episode season instead of a full season – especially after all we’ve done. I’m still hoping for a full season.
I got tired of reading so called insiders leak unreliable information for the last 3 days – so much so that now I don’t even care. When the 19th comes I’ll be hitting refresh on the browser every 5 seconds…
I just emailed the charity link to USA Today.
We have gotten zero national coverage of the charity program which is unfortunate. The Subway story was in every blog and many other sources.
We really should be working together to get the media to pick up on the charity story, but for some reason I have been the only person mentioning this fact for the last week or so.
The charity money is for a good cause however it is not going to help our cause if nobody knows about it!!!!!!!!!!
@Dave
You are right, we have to work together in as coordinated effort as possible. We should hit CNN again with the information – or hell Comedy Central see if we can’t get Jon Stewart to help. =-)
I dont love the idea Chuck moving to Friday night. However, rating expectations are less for Fridays. Therefore, it might be a good thing.
@Paul M
Chuck was originally renewed for a 13 episodes 2nd season, and it was announced that way. It was only later that after watching the first 6 episodes that the NBC suits decided to order another 9 to ensure Chuck would get a full season.
Now, I have a question. Anyone knows a (trustable) website where I can preorder the season 2 dvd and they will ship it to Europe when it comes out? I know American DVD’s don’t work in European DVD players, but I do own a Region 1 DVD so that’s not an issue. It’s probably an easy question, but I just never really got that much into the internet buying deal, call me old fashioned…
