It’s Chuck Me Monday again! Our first two Mondays have been very successful with fans watching and discussing the episodes online, drawing in new viewers here and there. This week we’re watching “Chuck vs. the Tango”, wherein Chuck goes on his first undercover spy mission. Plus, Chuck gets a very uncomfortable dance lesson, Sarah breaks out the first red dress, and Casey moves in next door. Here’s the official synopsis for this episode:
IT TAKES TWO TO TANGO— Chuck Bartowski (Zachary Levi) is finding out that living two separate lives is not going to come easy. After being challenged by his boss at Buy More, Chuck needs the help of his best friend Morgan (Joshua Gomez) and the Nerd Herd, to prove that he is up to the task and ready to become assistant manager. Meanwhile, Sarah (Yvonne Strahovski) and John (Adam Baldwin) force Chuck to go undercover for his first real spy mission. It seems that Chuck’s two different lives are learning to Tango, but which one will learn to take the lead?

Love this episode!
Technically, didn’t Casey move into the apartment complex in Vs. The Helicopter.
When Casey shows up at the “get to know Sarah” dinner hosted by Ellie, he mentions that he’d just moved in upstairs, and wanted to bring some quiche to Ellie.
Of course, his movinging Chuck’s apartment complex was specificly mentioned by Gen Beckman in Vs. The Tango, and his apartment happens to be on the ground floor, rather than “upstairs”.
Is this a situation where differen writers didn’t remember some small detail from a previous episode?
I am doing a Chuck musical moments “montage” in which I put the tango practice with Capt Awesome follow immediatly by the tango scene. Was pretty funny to watch back to back.
Will get my footlong subway and watch it early (because I have a raid in World of Warcarft again), but I will be doing ALT-TAB’s to twitter from 9 to 10
does any one Know when the season two DVD’s are comming out.
i love this eposode. i cant watch tonight so i’ll watch it now.
I just bought my double stacked turkey at Subway. The owner of the Subway shop was totally unaware of the ongoing Chuck and Subway campaign. I educated him on the season 3 renewal and the influence that Subway had on the success of the renewal. He agreed to set up a comment box so that fellow Chuckaholics can show their support.
Mel – can I give him the Chuck Me Mondays banner to put on the comment box? I don’t want to infringe.
Best quote of the episode is from Harry Tang: “When you go to sleep at night all you’re going to see is Tang in your face.” Classic.
The Morgan musical montage about 2/3rds of the way through the episode was the best use of music.
As far as when season 2 comes out. I would imagine either an October/November release. Season 1 was released about 6 months after the finale aired, and Warner Brothers may wait and release this for the holiday season, but that’s just my 2 cents.
I read somewhere Season 2’s DVD’s were coming out around August/September. I can’t wait for the Season 2 DVD’s. I have Season 1 DVD’s, but will be watching it on the WB tonight.
@Mike B: By all means, give him the banner. Excellent idea, BTW!
@Dylan: No street date has been announced yet, but we’re expecting them in July or August.
Man, this was the first episode that i watched live…oh such good memories :’D
I love how Chuck bad-guys are always women!!
you don’t see that very often but i very much enjoy it when i do 🙂
I like the idea of using the ChuckMe banner at subway. I printed a banner, will stample the receipt on it and put them in the comment box. Self explanatory.
I feel bad – two weeks in a row having evening meetings on Monday nights. The good news is that I will be with you for Wookie.
However, just to let you know I am with you at least in spirit, I watched the Tango on-line at WB when I got home form work this afternoon, and as usual it was Awesome. Tango and Wookie are two of my all time favourites.
One thing I noticed – maybe it is my imagination, but has Sarah’s voice changed slightly, from season 1 to season 2. I was watching Colonel and Ring over the weekend and her voice seemed different than it is in this episode.
Also there is nothing funnier than watching Chuck tango. First with Awesome then with La Ciudad.
Of course Casey was right – you will be ok if you know how to tango – apparently even if it is the Girl’s part.
Her voice probably hasn’t changed per se, but it may sound a little different due to her being more comfortable with an American accent. I suspect early on, she had to concentrate more when in her American accent. Now, maybe no as much.
At the end of episode, when they talk about kissing, imo this is when Sarah star considering Chuck has someone she could fall in love with. Great episode and the buymore part was very good.
Chuck+more Chuck= 🙂
Chuck is great on Mondays
1 hour and 20 minutes to go.
Let’s not forget our Subway footlong!
One of the darker Chuck intros then Chuck and a kid. Chuck was good with that kid and the ballerina in the pilot. Chuck needs more kids.
Also, does anyone else think the speed is kicked up just slightly on these episodes? Everyone sounds a little more chipmunk-ish to me.
Also, it’s very cool that it says “It’s ChuckMeMonday!” at the top of the screen.
Is this the first episode we see Big Mike’s marlin, Norman?
Chucks Stable of Hoes… LOL @ classic Jeff comment
Hey, Estee, you’re right, it does say Chuck Me Mondays at the top of the screen!
Ooh, that means people will actually hear about this.
Exciting!
I just noticed the Chuck Me Mondays at the top, too. That’s awesome!
I am in the US and the WB will not let me view their website. It keeps giving me tne message that the WB can only be viewed from within the US. What gives?
@ gt – Try totally closing your browser then reopening or using a different browser. That’s happened to me before, too.
I love the lines about Chuck not freaking about on this first mission.
Sarah: Your hand is a little moist.
Chuck: It does that when I’m freaking out.
I think its hysterical when Chuck realises he has learnt the womans part of the tango and doesn’t know how to lead La Ciudad LoL.
“Why would he need to know how to tango? Is that code?” Hilarious!!!
I totally adore Chuck’s curly hair in these early episodes. Way better than the sculpted hair of late.
I heard Zac say in an interview his hairstyle is in the contract so I think he has to keep it a certain way.
Estee, I tried closing the browser and opening it again, and again, and again. That didn’t work. I don’t have a different browser. I guess I’m out of luck. I do wonder if their server is swamped.
“I’m off buy 8 and hammered by 8:05” What an alcoholic. Jeff and Casey have realy good ines in this one but when do they not? I also like the bond refernce by Chuck “Martini barkeep, shaken and stired”. I could watch this show 500+ more times on top of the countless times I’ve watched it, and it would still be awsome
I love when Chuck comments about the painting: Bob Rossian in it’s influence.
@ gt – Total reboot? Sorry to throw tech support 101 at you, but I know it happened to me, and I did somehow get it to work. Maybe it is just the servers.
@ Sam Castle – that explains the experimental facial hair and hats during the off season. He’s got to play while he can.
@gt…try on NBC.com if WB.com isn’t working. Or hulu.com.
Okay. I finally connected to the WB but I have to steal my neighbors connection to do it and the connection is lousy. I’d like to know what is wrong because I have watched Chuck on the WB many times before and never had this problem.
@gt…glad you were finally able to connect.
You know what would a cool drinking game? Every time someone on the show says, “It’s complicated,” we take a drink. 😉
First rule of management: always take credit. EXCELLENT!
When you go to sleep at night, all you’re going to see is Tang in your face. Hilarious!
“That wine’s from both of us.”
Gotta love Morgan.
Well, I just “twittered” or “tweeted” or whatever it’s called for the first time tonight. See ya’ll next week!!
Yet another phenominal episode of Chuck has come to an end. Sarah was in amazing form. Till next week my fellow Chuck groupies, keep the faith, Chuck will endure.
So we need to work on the rules for the Chuck drinking game. I made up a great set of drinking rules for watching Ikki Tousen videos but I went a bit overboard and we were all blitzed way too soon.
It seems to me as if specific keywords, events and recurring trends could be stratified in regards to frequency and level of intensity (e.g. Sarah in a bikini is worth three times as much as Sarah in a red dress) we could have a good game, but brevity is really the key. I remember in college a dozen or so of us trying to do a shot of tequila every time we heard “motherf***er” in Scarface and we almost ended up burning down the apartment complex. After fifteen minutes.
“When you go to sleep all you’re going to see is Tang in your face.” LOL
I think the ending of this episode may be the first Chuck/Sarah moment of the series.
@Eonwe – I like what you are proposing. I don’t want to get plastered, but I think we could come up with something to make it fun. Maybe even a drink of beer for every time someone says, “It’s complicated,” and a shot of tequila every time Sarah is in her underwear.
Man, watching Chuck has made me realize how much i miss it!!!!
I CAN’T MAKE IT TILL MARCH!!!!
Although looking back now at old Chuck, he really has come so far.
Not only have all of his priorities for work changed since this, his attempts at getting Sarah have has well…his un-requited love aint so un-requited no more!!
