  1. Nice! This is a great episode!

  2. I’m a pretty recent Chuck convert due to the release of Season 1 in Aus! Watched through all of S1 and S2 twice in about two weeks (ie. exam time) but kept finding myself just out of sync with the episode slated for Chuck Me Mondays. Now I’m finally all set to vicariously join in this week. Am excited!

Just to check, are we up to Alma Mater, Truth or Hard Salami?

  3. It’s a great episode.

I am really looking forward to reading the comics. I hope they do justice to the giant amount of awesome that is Chuck.

  4. Shouldn’t it be Chuck vs The Truth this week??

  5. Nice episode!
Are the comics worth a try? As I’m from Germany, i don’t know if they are available here!

  6. I’m confused about episode. Next ep should be VS The Truth, not Alma Mater or Salami (Imported Hard Salami).

Should I watch the next ep on disc?

  7. We are watching Chuck Vs The Truth tonight.

  8. Ye. We’re supposed to watch Chuck vs. the Truth tonight not alma mater or salami.

  9. Chuck to Sarah: “God your so pretty”
Sarah reaction to this is pricless. 😉
Chuck to Casey: “and Casey your jaw was chisled by Michael Anglilo himself”
    Casey: “Thank you!”
LOLZ this was the best part of Chuck vs the Truth. I have to watch the scene over and over again. I still die laughing every time I see it.

  10. In the beginning I wasn’t really into Chuck, I only watched it, to do my boyfriend a favor 🙂 But after a few episodes I started to enjoy it and got to love it 🙂 Great series!!

  11. Is it Versus the Truth? Anyhow, poor Chuck in need of a haircut this ep – his hair is making funny animal shapes after all! 😉

  12. Just to cover both bases:

In Chuck vs the Truth, at the end when Sarah admits to Casey that she would have compromised herself if not for her training, it’s heartbreaking because *we* know that what she said to Chuck wasn’t true, but he still believes it is. Which sets us up for:

Chuck vs the Imported Hard Salami, where Chuck begins to really date Lou, who is much different from Sarah (in fact, it seems that Chuck never dates anyone like Sarah). And I *love* Sarah’s obvious jealousy when it comes to Lou.

  13. misspearlygates

I’m not sure if we have the comics in Australia, but I’m sure they’re brilliant! “If everything is awesome, and nothing is unawesome, then awesome by definition is just mediocre!” =D

  14. Chuck vs the Truth is still my all-time favorite episode.

  15. My favorite part of this episode is when chuck, sarah, and caasey are “affected” by the serum. “casey your jaw was chisled by the gods” or when sarah and casey are fighting over who can pick locks best hahahaha. CLASSIC

  16. You got the recipe for the Chuck Bartowski sandwich?

  17. This was a great episode full of awesome music and a mind blowing ending. This is definately one of the best episodes ever!

  18. This episode sets up how Sarah tries to hide her true feelings for Chuck, beginning with how she lies to Chuck while under the truth serum and then tells Casey she would be no where without her training.

My favorite scene is when the gymnast bad guy does backflips to get away and Casey just shoots him in the knee to stop him.

  19. Doesn’t Sarah actually shoot the evil gymnast guy in the knee? I must admit I watched this one ahead of schedule over the weekend just because of the scene Chuck Fan spoke of above- the look on Sarah’s face for about two seconds after Chuck gushes over how pretty she is before they bust into evil gymnast guy’s hideout is classic. In fact there are plenty of instances when Yvonne’s reactions to another actor’s dialogue shows an amazing level of complexity. Everyone should try watching her when she’s not speaking- but of course we males are all doing that anyway…

  20. Love the main episode but hate the fact it leads to Chuck dating Lou! This is the guy who’s taken about 5 years to move on from Jill and all of a sudden he can get over Sarah just like that?

  21. Love the episode especially when Sarah shoots that weird gymnast guy right in the knee after he is trying to show off all his back flips. 🙂

  22. @Eonwe and Gambs- It is Sarah who shoots the gymnast guy in the knee. Hey I just remebered another really funny part of this ep other the whole “god your so pretty” thing and that Chuck’s hair has funny animal shapes in it. The part before she blows the guy’s knee, Sarah claims Casey as her partner and when Casey points it out she nodds her head and makes this hilarious expression. LOLZ It’s so Childish it’s cute. 🙂
I also noticed this is the first and only (from what I can remember) ep where someone says something about Chuck’s hair. Though despite the hair, I find Chuck to be quite HOT. 😉 Though seriously the hair has got to go in S3.

  23. I hope Rachel Bilson or someone else from the OC guest stars in Season 3. Bilson was fun to watch in vs the truth.

  24. This is a great episode. I enjoyed the sceens left out of the Season 1 DVD with Morgan and Harry Tang. A good reason to get the DVD’s.

  25. Really enjoy this episode.
Just recently, got my friend into Chuck (and now he’s obsessed), so we watched this episode like last week.

  26. Love the fact that Sara looks at him with puppy eyes and says this is going nowhere. Hopefully S3 will have Sara eating her words. Love to see how Casey and Chuck do in fight seens with female agents, especially Chuck after he flashes on kung foo again. I can see Casey needing help because I think he was brought up with boys don’t hit girls. More Chuck and Sara romance yea!!!!!!!!

  27. Love this episode and it has the best line where Chuck says that Casey’s jaw was chiseled by Michelangelo. I always laugh so hard when I hear that line.

  28. This is one of my favorites episodes

  29. to Eonwe- its not only males that are watching yvonnes every expression. some of us females are too!

  30. One of my favourite episodes, although I have to admit almost all of them are my favourite episodes.
I love the comedy that occurs while Team Bartowski are under the truth serum.
We find out who is the better lock-pick and who’s jaw was chiseled by Michael Angelo.

To bad they didn’t leave the scene in with Morgan coming through the window – that was funny. All the more reason to buy the DVD sets when they come out.
Speaking of which, I can’t wait for S2 DVD set. It will be awesome.

  31. this is my favorite episode of season 1 😀

  32. Refreshing that Lou was just a sweet girl who liked “reasonably charming” Chuck. Other shows, uninterested in character development, would’ve gone out of their way to make her sinister.

  33. Sandwiches!! I made a blog post about ChuckMeMondays to promote it.

    http://th3tvobsessed.blogspot.com/2009/07/chuckmemondays-july-20-2009.html

  34. Bo Writtenhouse

I enjoy the beginning in the storage room where Chuck and Sarah are going over movie date info and Sarah grabs Chuck and takes him down to look like they are making out when her boss opens door! LOL

  35. I just loved this episode. The whole dynamic between Lou, Chuck, and Sarah was great. One of my all time favorite Chuck episodes

  36. I love the part where chucks doesnt know how to introduce sarah to lou.

  37. I am so excited for the new season. My 2 yearold even knows what chuckmemondays are!

  38. I love the shocked/paralized look on chucks face when sarah opens her blous and gets on top of him just before her boss walks into the storeage closet. :O

  39. I love this episode, even though it was an obvious love triangle to throw off the budding inevitable Chuck/Sarah relationship.

Lou was a great character, her description of the Chuck sandwich was inspired.

  40. Hopefully theyll bring Lou back in the third season for a little more romantic tension as well as the competition between Sarah’s potential subway job and Lou’s sandwich shop.

  41. Man, the new season can’t get here soon enough

  42. Chuck vs The Truth is one of my favorite episodes from S1. I liked the truth serum part when Sarah says “my partner wants to shoot you” , Casey says “you called me your partner” and then Sarah just looks at him and gets this sly little smile on her face. See, they’ve grown on each other already.
Also the the whole Sarah spending the night with Chuck at the beginning was hilarious. His sexy dance, her purple nightie, Ellie under the truth serum going crazy on Awesome and then busting in on Chuck and Sarah.

  43. Love the expression on Chuck’s face when Sarah is on top of him.

  44. “Who’s there? The NSA, CIA and me…” funniest line of season one…

  45. Can’t wait to watch Chuck vs. the Truth again…definitely one of my top three favorite episodes. Love the scenes where our fave trio is under the spell of truth serum!

  46. This is one of my absolute favorite episodes of season 1. I think it’s where the show really started to hit its stride.

  47. This is definitely one of my top five episodes 😀

  48. I missed Chuck on it’s first run in the UK but my dad watched it. He told me about the end of this episode in great detail – something he’s never done with any other show and I’m so glad he did because it encouraged me to give it a go. I’ve never regretted it – although my bank balance has.

  49. Loved the opening sequence, briefing for Sushi with Ellie. “Wow Girl on Top” and the look on Chuck’s face.
In the deleted scene with Morgan coming through the window says the same thing.
Then Morgan with “Mind Cheater”. Name Sarah ring a “ding” a hot blonde with two big bells “ding ding”.

  50. Another awesome scene: Morgan helping Harry Tang’s wife – Jeff and Lester filming and then editing the tape to show to Harry – after all to quote Jeff “knowledge is powder”.
This episode has so many great moments.
