This week’s E!Online spoiler chat had several Chuck nuggets, most of which we’ve heard before with one significant new piece of knowledge:
Tommy in Toronto: Is Awesome really going to be a spy this season on Chuck? How will that work?
Chuck star Ryan McPartlin (Devon “Awesome” Woodcomb) spells it out for us: “I don’t know if I’ll be made a spy, but I’m getting involved in the spy world. Chuck’s going to [be] in a pinch and call on me to help him out.” Makes sense, but we have an important question: Will this mean more or less clothes? “I don’t have to just be shirtless for no reason, but I’m sure my shirt will come off for random acts of God.” Whoo! As McPartlin says, “I feel like it’s amazing because it’s like the first season, when Chuck got to carry the weight of the secret. I get to bring that [spirit of the] first season back again, through Awesome’s eyes. And I’m just gonna lean on [Sarah and Chuck] for advice on how to do that.”Joel in Ames, Texas: Am I the only one worried that Chuck is going to be way too different with the new kung fu intersect?
Actually, yes, because we think it’s an awesome new twist, but Captain Awesome himself wants to ease your mind. When we ran into Ryan at the NBC TCA party, he explained the new season perfectly: “We flipped Chuck on its ear. We’re going to give the audience what it expects, but not the way they expect it. Chuck used to be protected from the world, now the world has to be protected from Chuck.” Have we eased your mind yet?Kaitlyn in Seattle: Since Bryce Larkin is dead on Chuck, at least Chuck doesn’t have him getting in the way between him and Sarah anymore, right?
Au contraire, there’s a chance that Bryce Larkin isn’t really dead and that he could return to shake things up a little. Matthew Bomer tells us, “I’d love to go back, but it’s really going to depend on scheduling [with White Collar]. There is a possibility that I will be back on Chuck.”
Bryce? Really?
I personally think it will be for a flashback sequence only.
I confess that I would much prefer for Bryce to STAY DEAD this time. Even though the moment of his re-appearance in S1 was pretty… awesome.
I doubt he’ll come back because Josh Schwartz said that Bryce is definately dead and will stay dead.
I TOLD YOU that Bryce was dead! He’s never dead! That being said, I think AstronomySnap has the right idea. After all, isn’t Bryce in the intersect? All Chuck would have to do is flash.
That Bryce is like a cockroach! I do though, really like the idea of a flashback (thanks astronomysnap). A flashback of more of Sarah’s history with Bryce etc. would be awesome.
It would be interesting if Bryce did come back from the dead again. A) With his eyes open at the end did he get the intersect 2.0 downloaded into him as well? B) Has the Ring nursed him back to health and convinced him to join there side? C) If he has gone bad that mean Chuck and Bryce will fight it out 2.0 style? D) If so with Chuck learning in Season Three how to control his emotions it will give him an advantage. Why? Because emotions get in the way and cause the intersect 2.0 to malfunction. Well the intersect was intended for Bryce and he is much better at controlling his emotions then Chuck, but Chuck’s kryptonite is also Bryce’s kryptonite…aka Sarah. Bryce was showing much more stronger emotions for Sarah in The Ring then in previous episodes. This could set the stage for a dramatic conflict in my opinion. If that what they intend to do? Halley, I’m with you. There’s a reason why Bryce “died” with his eyes wide open. Intersect 2.0 got downloaded into HIM as well as Chuck. I’d bet my next paycheck that Bryce WILL be back and there will be a final “showdown” between he and Chuck – with Sarah being the one to “make him dead” once and for all!
I’ve been saying that in here and on the forums but people didn’t thought it could happen because they kept being so sure that Bryce was dead.
I’m sure he isn’t, as far as I know, they don’t have his body so it’s a possibility. His eyes were open, so the downloading of Intersect 2.0 is highly possible in his case.
Personally, I see him coming back, but this time, as Chuck True Nemesis. Not a good friend. He could be leagued with the RING this time. Maybe he’ll capture Sarah and that will force Chuck to play the real hero…
Halley, Rick, I was thinking exactly the same thing!!! When I saw him lying down there with eyes open and Chuck think he is dead it was the best chance to be considered dead once and for all and still be Chuck’s chance to get his old and much-desired life back!!!

Bryce Larkin coming back from the dead a second time is definitely a very real possibility. After all if Brett Favre can come back from the dead/retirement as often as he has and Fulcrum agent Vincent kept coming back after seemingly deadly endings then it should be more than possible for F&S to change their minds about Bryce.
Whether Intersect 2.0 was downloaded into Bryce or not “The Ring” would have very good reasons to do everything in their power to save his life. Not only could he provide them with intelligence on the data architecture of the new Intersect (which he told Chuck’s dad that he didn’t want to know about)he also could pose a threat to Team Bartowski not to mention national security.
Chuck, Sarah and Casey could be sent on a mission that involved either rescuing or taking out Bryce. In either case it would be more than a little interesting.
All I want for Christmas is my Season2 dvd…

Whatever it is involving Bryce will not likely be a huge part of the season because at this point they might not have any availability for Bomer due to his schedule. So it is hard for them to do a whole lot with him.
I am thinking it may be more like one of Sarah’s backstories with Bryce involved. But the whole downloading on the intersect into Bryce is a very clever idea.
i want chuck and sarah together 4eva! but Bryce coming bak 2 shake thingz up is a cool idea. the intersect being downloaded into him is very clever. i think that that should be what happened. but maybe he wont retain ALL the information. because he didnt do as well in that test thing that was mentioned. about how many images they could obtain?
I thought at the end of last season either Chris Fedak or JS said that Bryce Larkin is dead and not coming back this time. Why all of a sudden the reversal? If he comes back, it is pretty clear that we can’t take anything these guys say at ComiCon at face value. They just use it to set us up for shock value. Which actually kinda makes me mad a little bit.
We were told (quite firmly, I might add) that Bryce was dead. If he comes back, I am almost certain it will be for flashbacks only. With the possibility of the Charah relationship this season, flashbacks will probably be to show how Sarah’s emotional block has developed/thrived in the past, thus teaching us more about her elusive personality.
I’d really love to have Bryce back, although preferably as a villain, that would be more interesting than what they’ve done with him thus far. There’s a lot of dramatic potential there, with both Chuck and Sarah having conflicted feelings for him. I was never happy that they killed him off so soon.
