With so much debate between fans about the central theme of Chuck, underlining how complex the show truly is, we decided to create a survey to gather some hard data on the question. It’s a short survey and shouldn’t take more than 5 minutes to complete. The survey will close next Friday, November 20, so do it now!
NOTE: This survey is for use by ChuckTV.net. It is not endorsed, sponsored, or affiliated with NBC, College Hill, Wonderland Sound and Vision, or anyone associated with Chuck.
Good idea! This should be really interesting. Can’t wait to see the results.
Thanks Mel, for the chance to quantify the ongoing discussions on the boards.
We’ll see if those who say “A majority of fans want…” are correct.
maybe we will, maybe we won’t
Well done Mel
In addition to all the information this site offers, you obviously read the posts carefully.
Very thorough yet brief and concise survey.
By the way Chuck isn’t a rich Tv show.
Josh Schwartz said they’re kinda in the middle, they don’t need a really expensive budget but neither of a small one.
“Rich” in this context refers to depth, not budget.
LMAO!!!!!!! That was too funny…… “kinda in the middle”…. Thanks for clarifying Mel, I was really confused.
I think the survey will be interesting–The only thing it will actually show are the feelings of the those of us that take the survey. Such a minute number of viewers post that there is no way to accurately tell the feelings of the vast majority of the millions of viewers. Never the less I appreciate the opportunity and continue to feel that Mel is doing a great job.
Thanks Mel, taken.
question on the survey, is it possible to have many reasons why we watch the show? the first question precludes this possibility
Of course, we all have many reasons why we watch the show. Question 1 asks which is the MOST important element for you, then Question 2 allows you to rank the elements in order of preference.
Done! Thank you for putting this together. Look forward to the results.
This is my favorite Chuck site. This is the first place I go when I want to know what’s going on with this awesome show. Thank you so much for providing this place, Mel.
Agreed. Thanks Mel! 🙂
The poll is cool, but sometimes limiting. For instance, I love Morgan and want to see alot more of him, but I’m happy with Jeff and Lester in small doses. (Yet they were all lumped together.)
Ellie, Morgan and Casey are my three favorite characters after Chuck and Sarah. These five are the whole show for me. (Awesome comes in a close number 6.)
Ha- I also love Beckman! Never want to see her go.
Taken! Nice poll
No poll is perfect but this one gives you the chance to list your #1 element plus rank the other ones in descending order.
The results should be interesting and surprising to some I wager.
Just out of curiosity, did anyone vote for the romance between Ellie and Awesome? I mean I like their characters, but does anybody really watch Chuck for that? To me this is nice background noise.
I know a couple of fans (from another forum) whose favorite character is Capt Awesome. And some poeple also mainly watch the show for the eye-candy that Sarah Lancaster and Yvonne Strahovsky are, according to them. yeah
I have to say, this idea that we tune in to watch the journey of a hero, I find to be over-intellectualized.. I almost didn’t vote for this as my top pick because it rang somehow false. There should have been an option speaking of the characterization on the show, and of Chuck in particular. This is the secret to good episodic fiction, in my opinion. The reason I am so passionate about the show is because the writers have made me care about Chuck as a person. Chuck is honest, loyal, intelligent, and courageous (I feel like Morgan in Chuck vs the Sandworm). Chuck IS a hero, and while I enjoy watching his journey, I don’t watch to see him BECOME a hero.
Interesting post. Yeah, I agree that our Chuck is an extremely likable guy. You just really want to root for him! A true testament of how talented Zac Levi is as an actor. I think I fell in love with his character from the pilot. That’s what hook me up. The music, the comedy and the action were nice too. I just LOVE this show!
Couldn’t say it any better myself. 🙂 CHUCK ROCKS MAN!!!
To me chuck has already shown himself to be a hero the only thing is that he doesn’t see himself as a hero, maybe this season he will start to realize how heroic the things he is doing is. I also agree that zach levi’s acting skills hv really made the audience fall in love(in a non-romantic way of course)with chuck’s character,he makes us care about chuck’s feelings. He is now one of my favourite actors
I look forward to the “supercouple” that Chuck and Sarah can become. Living in the spy world and completing the daily tasks in normal life. How do you get the drycleaning when the ring is tailing you? Do you avoid Ellie and Devon’s anniversary because you might “flash” on a Paraguan dictator? The point being real life can be just as dificult as spy life.
It sure was hard to rank all the elements from 1 to 10. There were about 4 or 5 of them that I would like to give a 10 to.
Otherwise great poll. It will be interesting to see the results.
This is a show I really look forward to seeing and can’t wait for the new season to start .I love watching chuck develop and become a better person he is also very selfless in the things he does in the show I lone to watch team bartowski work and can’t wait for more development in Sarah and chucks relationship and we all have to adnmit that this show is really funny.
Chemistry between characters is main reason I am watching this show. The way Sarah looks at Chuck, tears in her eyes makes me shiver. I think majority of fans will me disappointed if Chuck and Sarah don’t end together.
Of course they’re going to end up together. I love this show as much as anyone, but this isn’t deep stuff meant to challenge your world views or expectations or anything. This is good ol’ light entertaining television. Sarah and Chuck will definitely wind up together, provided the show lasts long enough. The only way I can see them NOT winding up together is if Yvonne experiences success in her movie career and decides she wants to do something else… (Yvonne… No.)
The only thing is, I don’t expect them to get together this season… I don’t think they’ll drag it out to the end of the series as some people seem to fear, but we’re starting to get in the area where the studio can begin to think about at least the possibility of syndication. Syndication is where the studio starts to make money on the show. They’ve probably LOST money on this little venture up to this point. It makes sense to me, at least, then, to keep Chuck and Sarah apart until near the end of season 4, when hopefully, they’ll have enough episodes in the bank that someone will be interested in showing the re-runs.
that may work studio wise(though I’m not sure network wise), but it might be too much for some of the fan-base to accept, and that might be enough to
either discontinue the show or OTOH bring them together in spite of external(and maybe internal) pressure.
Off topic, gentlemen. This isn’t the place to speculate about the show. You’re welcome to join us in the forum or find an appropriate post to talk about what may or may not happen with the show instead.
O.K Mel. you’re right.
I would suggest you’d be more careful as to who you’re calling crazy.
You wouldn’t want to repeat that in real life, mind you.
The results of survey???
hey just wondering when the results are cuming out?
It will probably be next weekend; need to have my analyst friend help me write up the results and it’s a busy week for both of us.
But the results of survey????
Shows Poll is now closed.
I am a little older than most chuck fans…but anyone remember:
Luke and Laura
Bo and Hope
Dylan and Brenda
these romances can go on forever…get together, breakup…it is something that makes this show special…
And the survey SAID! Huh? 🙂
It said, “Mel needs real life to SLOW DOWN for a couple of hours so she can finish writing up the analysis!” 🙂
chusck is AWESOME!!
