Matt Mitovich from Fancast.com has a terrific new interview with Yvonne Strahovski in which she talks about the Chuck/Sarah relationship, learning more about Sarah’s past, and some of Yvonne’s guilty pleasures:
I understand we’ll get some more blanks filled in regarding Sarah’s past. Or should I say “Jenny Burton’s†past?
Yeah, you’ll find out some pretty full-on stuff, actually. I don’t know how much I can reveal… but you kind of learn about her beginning phases – how she came to be the spy she is today, how she got into that world.
Hrmm. I love just about everything about the show to this point. However, pushing more third parties between Chuck and Sarah is going to damper my feelings about the course of the show. I could handle Jill just fine–she was, I thought, brought in and used well–and even Cole Barker to a lesser degree; but if Kruek and Routh are legitimate love interests, I’ll be disappointed. I suppose they could pull it off again since they did it in season 2, but I think they would risk a lot more fan alienation the second time around. Of course, the season is in the can for all practical purposes as far as direction goes, but I felt like voicing my concern.
Just bought season 2 on DVD this morning, watched two episodes and most of the extras, and am excited for this Sunday. Go Chuck!
i agree completely … i mean like what else are they going to come up with to not have Sarah and chuck together ….
I am beyond frightened at the outlook of yet another round of stupid angst.
I am trying as best as I can to gear up my motivation for the show, but I feel like there’s this big ticking bomb around the corner for every little happy moment chuck/sarah share together.
If there was true progression, sure, bring on some angst. But I think we have all seen the endless back and forth nonsense of season 2. At one point they have made ground together, (bracelet, as an example) and then the next second, they’re back to total strangers.
For me, the biggest turnoff of season 2 was the Jill arc. The whole season 1 we have seen chuck/sarah be built up, and then SMACK, in one episode he willfully chooses Jill over Sarah, with tonsel hockey and all the works. Then Jill is gone, and we’re back to Sarah..
How does that make me believe he really even wants Sarah in the first place? If she wasn’t good enough to choose over Jill, why is she the girl of his dreams now that Jill is gone? Is she like this backup girlfriend when all else fails?
I am starting to totally lose faith in the concept that there ever will be a chuck and sarah. Which is sad, because it was really chucks innocence and Sarahs out-of-his-league-ness (?), sort of a beauty-and-the-geek thing, that first got me so seriously hooked on the show. I feel like that’s slowly being taken away from me, and all that’s left is your average daytime drama. “This week he’s with her, next week he is with that one. Who’s he dating the week after…”
Rant…
Chuck had already broken up with Sarah in Break Up after Bryce convinced him that her feelings for him would get her killed, so Chuck never really chose Jill over Sarah. Jill was actually Chuck’s second choice as the writers portrayed with the shower scene in Fat Lady and the practice kiss scene in Gravitron.
I agree with you and being tired of the whole s-angst deal. In the interview, Yvonne mentions Shaw like Bryce has more in common with her and that Shaw is in many ways easier to talk to than Chuck. I’m hoping this has to do more with the less than savory chapters of her spy career and less to do with emotions otherwise she’s giving Shaw a part of herself that she withheld from both Chuck and Bryce.
wow what a bummer. just as things were looking up.
i just hope its not as bad as it sounds. but i shall watch it regardless.
