It’s cool that Ausiello puts those teasers out there when fans ask those questions. And I know that fans really do ask because I’m the one who submitted that first question…..Yes, my first name is Charles (everyone calls me Chuck)
My only argument with this is that Chuck’s mind isn’t what Sarah loves most about him. It’s his heart. It’s how he loves and cares for his family and friends and just people in general. It’s not the fact that he’s a) a supercomputer or b) crazy computer nerd, it’s how he loves.
That’s my two cents about that.
Otherwise my guess is he can’t flash for some reason…or it has something to do with his dad taking the intersect out and he doesn’t tell Sarah. I have no idea why he would do that, but time will tell.
And the second one…either Shaw’s not dead and he comes back for revenge, or Eve’s not dead and she comes back for revenge. Or both.
I think could be the whole Jill thing.
Letting Jill get away(secret), and then Jill comes back to do him great harm.
I really do hope that Jill learned her lesson. IF she did come back to harm Chuck, it’d probably be through hurting someone else. I don’t think that she ever intended to hurt Chuck.
I’m really hoping both stay dead. Shaw took two to the chest (with blood splatter, so no Kevlar comments) and bellyflopped 25 feet into a river. Plus, after the Bryce incident, I’d hope the CIA has placed increased importance on recovering the body. Unless there is a line in a future episode about failing to find Shaw, I’ll assume him dead. As for Eve, she was killed 5 years ago. If she’s still alive, where has she been? You think the Ring could have used her to turn Shaw a whole lot easier than the way it went down.
I am of the mind that Shaw is dead. Unless it was a throw away line, Morgan asks Chuck (re: the elevator) if he saw blood and viscera. We did see blood from Shaw. Ergo…
As for his mysterious illness, we saw in vs. the Ring, how the intersect can effect Papa B. Chuck has an even more powerful version, and I would say that he has flashed more often. Could Sarah have found him again?
I have always speculated that the intersect is slowly “corrupting” Chuck’s brain. Remember in exam when Chuck comes out and sees Sarah…and says this could be a dream…I am having very vivid dreams. Some say that is a callback to the dream/nightmare with Sarah and the knife in S2 but I think the intersect is causing some issues. I bet Sarah will notice him “flashing” during his sleep and having nightmares.

Great harm doesn’t necessarly mean physical harm. Hannah could come back and say she’s pregnant
I hope not, then that would mean that Chuck is a hypocrite…since in season 2 he wouldn’t “seal the deal” with Sarah because Morgan left him an IOU note….
Chucks father is going to come back and reveal that chuck is only who he is because he experimented on him when he was a kid.
Shaw is Chuck’s true nemesis. Bring him back, Brandon makes a great villain, and this show needs a recurring one.

And for those who say it’s too farfetched for Shaw to be alive… remember this is Chuck we’re talking about. Anything is possible. And what if they didn’t recover Shaw’s body in Other Guy, they didn’t recover the bodies of the Ring Director and the others when Shaw apparently had killed them in the elevator scene. Oops, HUGE plot hole there!! Haha. Please don’t let it ruin the show..
Chuck is a cheesy spy comedy full of plot holes. It’s now part of the course. LOL! 😉

I do agree that Shaw could be brought back for the finale As the Team’s enemy. and TPTB did say no one was safe. I take that to mean that could the Team be fact hunted by the Ring at some point in the Back Six. as well as their loved ones and friends in the cilvilien (spelling) world be targeted.? sounds exciting and I can’t wait.

I’m in the corrupting his mind camp. We’ve had a number of comments suggesting that this is coming:
–Dreams in Fake Name
–No flash, which Chuck notices, when he is assaulting the Ring compound in American Hero
–Ellie a neurologist
–Chuck’s dad had a severe reaction to flashing in The Ring and seems a bit out of it/odd
–His dad returning
–A psychologist
I also think they are playing on the term “secret” becaus he said that he would never lie/keep anything from Sarah again. The “angst” will be that he’s keeping the breakdown of the intersect from her. I also suspect that the breakdown is not that it quits working, but that it begins to become a constant rather than on-call device. He would then have to learn how to use it.
All of this, by the way, is also in the desperate hope that TPTB have graduated from teen soaps on this show…but I’m still concerned.
Ah, yes, the Betazoid thing from a episode of ST:TNG when the super-sensitive character couldn’t shut off the voices in his head…
Good point, the intersect 2.0 could bleed into the rest of Chuck’s brain. It could slowly and subtly start changing Chuck’s personality. Then Sarah would have to go to Ellie a Neurologist to try and fight to save her Chuck. Also, in Chuck versus the Dream Job, Stephen Bartowski said that the Intersect was in effect overwriting Chuck’s brain. If that is true then when you start counting the Pilot was one overwrite, S2 Chuck versus the Breakup is 2 overwrites, S2 Chuck versus the Suburbs are 3 and 4 overwrites, Chuck versus The Colonel is 5 overwrites and Chuck versus thee Ring is 6 overwrites. How many times can Chuck’s brain be overwritten before damage occurs…..remember that the Fulcrum agents in Suburbs were either turned into gibbering vegetables or killed. Just some food for thought.
I totally agree with this and they even show Chuck in a straight jacket being dragged into a nuthouse. I think this will be a VERY interesting ride to say the least. If you guys like that line of thought, you should read the story “No More Next Times” a Chuck Fanfic over on Fanfiction.net. It’s not totally “cannon” but a VERY VERY good read!

I think the secret is that because Chuck loves Sarah so much that his emotions are effecting his ability to flash correctly, remember Sarah is his kryptonite. Or Morgan stole his rubber again and Chuck flew without protection.
Shaw: Chuck shot high and another faction of the ring rose up to pull Shaw from the water and save him (think of Bryce). Since the ring leader is Captured, Shaw now becomes the leader and takes his revenge out on Chuck.
However since one of the bullets hit Shaw’s voice box and Shaw’s deep anger has caused him to distort his face, Shaw now look like the Joker and talks like Darth Vader.
I suspect that she would have noticed an evening of passion without protection.
Maybe it’s bad guy Fulcrum agent Vincent (Arnold Vosloo) from season 2 that will show up one more time.
Here’s what I think the secret is: Chuck will flash on the name of the person who ordered Sarah’s red test. He doesn’t want to tell her, but the more he hides it, the more it keeps popping up in his mind. That affects his ability to do anything as the Intersect is starting to dominate his brain. So, Beckman has him committed.
As for the finale, there has been rampant speculation that Shaw returns for the last two episodes. Look, we all thought Bryce was dead in the pilot after Casey shot him, but that wasn’t the case. It’s not above the writers to bring someone back from the dead.
And this wouldn’t be the first time that Shaw faked his own death.
Julia Ling is coming back. Anna is probably a spy by this point, so, what if she’s a Ring agent.
Anna was recruited by the NSA after Casey ran the background check on her. She had to leave Morgan to enter the NSA training program. Now that she is an agent and Casey is training Morgan…..hmmm me thinks Morgan maybe in for a shock.
Morgan,”Oh come on!”
Casey, “Suck it up!”
I’ll go way out on a limb here. Chuck’s mind is a free-agent to some extent but we have seen where he cannot control intersect 2.0, such as strangling Emmet Milbarge or tying up Morgan while hopped up on Johnny Black and ice cream. These mind controls were built into 2.0 by Papa Bartowski and modified by Bryce Larkin (“the Ring”: What changes did you make to my original design? You don’t want to know)for a programme designed for Larkin himself (“the Pink Slip” Beckman: The 2.0 was designed to go into the head of a real spy like Bryce Larkin). If Larkin modified it for himself, and noticed that he had lost Sarah to Chuck, he could have built something into the programme to help get her off his mind, something to make himself lose interest in her. If Chuck were now to flash on that programme, it could seriously undermine their relationship.
I think the it may cost him his mind part may have something to do with the shrink. The secret may be that with everything going on his emotions are going crazy and it starts to hit the intersect so he needs a shrink to calm down his emotions.
My second theory is that he learns about something completely absurd and he’s keeping it a secret from everyone, including Sarah, because if he tells they might think he’s crazy. Eventually he does tell and they think he’s crazy and put him in the psych ward. Sarah belives him and tries to prove that he’s right and sane.
WHEN WILL CHUCK’S SECRET E REVELED IN WHAT EPISODE
Most likely, the episode in question is 3.16, which is titled Chuck Vs. The Tooth. Chuck is sent to CIA-run mental hospital and his shrink will be played by Christopher Lloyd (Doc from Back to the Future.)
Let’s see here; In the promo Chuck yells to Casey and Sarah that he’s not crazy. A scenerio is easily explained. He has a secret, it’s making the Intersect go haywire, and if our hero finds himself in a jam at the looney bin, the rest of the gang will have to break him out. And maybe that’s way Papa B returns.
Second spoiler someone from chuck’s past returns and there’s an old enemy on the loose.
Mama B from the past and possible returning enemies for team b, Shaw, which is my first choice, Bryce, nay he’s dead and they’ve played that so many times too, Jill, interesting mention and could be cool to return as a foe for the gang to take down. Once a villain always a villain. Very Awesome can’t wait for APRIL 26TH!!!!!!

Don’t know why, maybe like a moth to a flame, but I read spoilers from Ausiello, and I read or listen to anything that Schwartz or Fedak says.
Invariably when I do that I’m forced out of my happy place, WRT Chuck. Have been in a very happy place since 3.13 and am so looking forward to 3.14.
Now, it looks like there will be more downers on the way after 3.14.
please don’t be shaw. I’d rather have bryce come back to life for the 100th time than see shaw again.
Amen to that! I thought Bryce worked wonders for the show and Shaw only stimulated hatred (which, I know is a good incentive to keep hime cuz people love to hate him, but still. Chuck is a show about love, not hate :P)
MY GUESS!
Chuck has been reprogrammed by the various intersects one too many times and he’s losing his grasp on his mind and memories. Losing the ability to tell the differences between reality, imagination and memories….(Chuck versus the final exam, “Is this real? I’ve been having the most vivid dreams lately..”) this effect suddenly becomes apparent to those around him, especially Sarah who seeks help from the one who knows the intersect the best, Chuck’s father. Chuck will become institutionalized or something to that effect and only Orion, Sarah and Casey will be able to help Chuck regain himself.
ALSO PART OF MY GUESS!
Also with the stress of his first legitimate kill on Shaw, that contributes to the ultimate break down, and although Shaw is dead, perhaps he continues to see him post-mortem. A past demon he has to face. Someone from Chuck’s past that does him great harm? Brandon Routh not finished?
God I love speculating…I guessed the Shaw’s wife was Sarah’s red test correctly! Anyone else have any guesses?
Two things make sense to me. The conversation at the end of S2 between Papa B and Bryce suggesting that all might not be well in IntersectLand. They pretty much laid the ground for some faulty wiring there. The second thing is Paul S.’s comment about Shaw’s killing and what it means for Chuck. If Chuck is seeing Christopher Lloyd to unburden himself, it would be interesting to see if Lloyd violates Chuck’s trust. As Casey said, Chuck is not a killer, and I really do hope they don’t sweep Shaw’s death under the rug.
I do sincerely hope that Kristin Kreuk, as good as she was, doesn’t show up preggers. That’s just so tired.

I have thought all season that Mama B will play some type of role this year. Papa B coming back for a couple of episodes could be because he wants to tell Chuck the truth about his mom, which is that she was/is part of The Ring. I’m thinking there is a Mr. & Mrs. Smith thing going on where Papa and Mama B were married, had a family, but each one had a secret spy life. They found out about each other, but since they were on opposing sides, they had to split (btw I’m sorry if someone already mentioned this, I started reading all the posts, but got tired towards the end). While I think Chuck’s trip to the looney bin is probably linked to what most of you are saying, another thought is that he goes crazy after finding out that his mom is part of the Ring (I know I sure would).
My other thought is that Eve is still alive. When they showed Sarah’s red test in Chuck vs. The Other Guy, it looked as though Sarah shot her in the side/shoulder, which is a shot she probably could have survived. Sarah also mentioned in Chuck vs. The Final Exam that she didn’t have a chance to check and see if Eve had a gun/actually died, so I think it is possible that she is still alive. The Ring would have kept this from Shaw because, I believe, it would be easier for them to control him if he thought the CIA had killed his wife as opposed to finding out that she was actually part of the Ring. If he knew she was part of the Ring, he could have turned on her himself.
With that said, I really hope they don’t pull a Bryce Larkin with Shaw.
That kinda makes sense because there had to be a reason that the CIA ordered her to killed. I don’t think shaw could be he ring leader because he was just recently turned right? maybe I really just don’t want himbto come back. The 26th is also my birthday so I CANNOT wait 😀
I’m guessing that Shaw is not dead. Somewhere I remember reading that Routh was seen on set during the filming of 3.19. I think he’s set to be a ‘ring-leader’ in season 4. At least the moves he’ll be making on Sarah won’t be romantic.
Someone coming back from the past to do great harm and Chuck’s mind giving him problems… my first, safer thought is that the Intersect is malfunctioning and trying to overwrite Chuck’s natural CPU and hard drive, thus requiring Orion’s help (IMDB has him now listed in the final three episodes, for what that’s worth). I still think the “significant death” spoiler is in play so Orion may die in the process. As to someone coming back to do him great harm… Shaw, Jill, Hannah (as a stalker? a bit out there, but still…)? Much less likely ghosts could be Laszlo the gadget-guy (vs Sandworm) and Colt (vs The First Date).
On the wilder side of speculation… Shaw planted a time-bomb virus (concocted by the Ring) in Intersect 2.0 and now it’s detonating. Revenge from beyond the grave! Maybe Chuck starts seeing Shaw in various places and finally does something that nearly gets someone killed (takes a shot at Casey, for example), and everyone then thinks Chuck has gone around the bend and that the Intersect is an unstable bit of technology that turns people into uncontrollable killing machines.
If the show runners were willing to endure 57 kinds of h-e-double hockey sticks for a potentially inflammatory cliffhanger, the last scenes of the episode could be Chuck seeing Shaw, Shaw taunting him, Chuck points his gun, gets ready to fire, but Sarah, not Shaw, steps out, sees Chuck with the gun pointing at her (oh, no! She’s in the line of fire), Sarah shouts “Chuck, NO!”

I think that the secret could be that the Intersect in his head is killing him. Maybe he’s getting a brain tumor or something.
Several possibilities
Jill:At the end of “First Kill” Chuck lets Jill free(Sarah thinks she escaped)and he gives her the expensive ring(sybolism)turns out Jill is with the ring.
Anna:She and Morgan are like Chuck and Jill were.Anna joined the ring and was told to breakup with Morgan.Uses Morgan’s failing as a chief and saying she running off with another as an excuse.Comes back when Morgan becomes part of team B and pretends she is still in love him to get inside Castle.
Bryce:His eyes were open when Chuck downloaded 2.0.Say he wasn’t dead and downloaded it too.Maybe after he was dragged out he was revived buy a Ring team and was taken over by the power of the new intersect.
Shaw:The Ring pulled him out of the river and brought him back(like Fulcram did with Bryce).
I forgot Hannah:Gets pregnent and comes to get revenge.
I like the Jill ring idea since the name of the last episode is vs. the rings. But I dont really buy her wanting to hurt chuck.
Well we know that Jill is a weak willed person and she has hurt Chuck really bad when she was with Fulcrum.Maybe after Chuck let her go,the Ring found her and will use her against Chuck.

Loving the speculations, guys!!! =P Most all of them sound plausible. I can’t wait until April 26! It can’t come fast enough. So… how much do you want to bet that at least one of you is right? Cause I think so!!!
I think it will just be that Chuck was affected by shooting Shaw much more than he is letting Sarah know, and it will cause him to have dreams/flashbacks etc. which will affect the intersect and make him seem crazy.
i just hope this couple stay togheter. it will be hard to see those two “kids” apart, again.
The first rule of being a spy is “never fall in love”.
Were I an ueber-agent (like Bryce Larkin), with no familial ties and only one friendship/love-interest that I thought was a liability (because Sarahs loves Chuck or to protect her and myself), I might modify an intersect that I intended to use, such that it overwrites my entire brain/personality.
That is one (weak) option to break Sarah and Chuck up again (beacuse we aren’t sick of that yet).
Alternatively (or additionally), I would try to have an intersect that I intended to download self-update, by incorporating television news reports and all of the input that is publicly available. I would want the intersect to interpolate all of the information that I saw/heard, so that it would always be up to date. The problem I see with that is if it started seeing conspiracy-theories everywhere – which could line-up with a losing Sarah and losing one’s mind story-line.
The part of the show that has always been in the back of my head is a line from Roark: “You always had a way with machines, Orion. Remember, well, I always had a way with the girls.” He says the line with a smirk, as though it is a dig. I have always suspected that Mrs. Bartowski would be brought into the story to move the plot. If she were wooed away by Roark, she could be part of the Ring and would be part of Chuck’s past that is spoken of here.
Remember when General Beckman told Sarah, she might have to protect the world from Chuck. I bet the intersect glitches and Chuck’s dad along with Ellie will have to save him. Just a possibility.
However, I hope they keep Chuck and Sarah’s relationship sweet and romantic from this momemnt on…..enough of the anguish already. They can do positive things in the future like…. they have to save each other from situations, or they need to be saved, or they need to save their friends and the country as a team…..key phrase “AS A TEAM”…could be the beginning of a lot of funny new adventures…
What if the intersect 2.0 starts overloading and chucks brain doesn’t have enough room for it all so his actual memories start fading! Then Chuck will forget sarah and he’ll be like…who are you?…..That would be absolutely horrible!
I think Josh Schwartz is probably referring to Chuck’s nightmares about killing Shaw. We see that Chuck is admitted into some psychiatric facility, so maybe that’s what starts it. The nightmares could cause some cracks in Sarah and Chuck’s relationship, so it fits, I think.
I think Shaw is still alive and will haunt Chuck in hist dreams and in real life (showing himself only to Chuck; Sarah and Casey won’t believe Chuck, thus the psychiatric help…)
I think Ellie might be Roarks daughter, and Papa B just found it out later (she looks just like her mother, not him). Remember that Chuck gave Sarah the charm bracelet that Papa B gave Mama B when Ellie was born. If Ellie was Roarks daughter, it was natural that Mama B left the bracelet when she abandoned them or that Papa B demanded she give it back. By the way, Papa B said he had “waited more than 20 years to do this” when he punched Roar, so he might be referring to when he found out about Roarks affair with Mama B.
I think Mama B might be coming back for Ellie, trying to get her away from Chuck in Africa (the sudden “unasked for” sabbatical…), maybe initially trying to get rid of Awesome and pair her up with a new PLI, this Justin guy. I think in the end Awesome wont die, but this Justin (doctor) will gain their trust for helping save Awesome, and this Justin is a Ring agent sent by Mama B to get to Ellie.
I agree with the possibility (mentioned above) that Mama B has always been Ring and she and Papa B split when they found out that they were on opposite sides (and that Mama B. cheated on Papa B with Roark).
I think either Papa B (“Men of a Certain Age” tight schedule, helloooooo) or the yet to be seen Mama B will die.
I also think there is a good possibility that Jill will come back, because of the title “chuck vs. the rings” (someone has already mentioned the simbolism of Chuck giving her the expensive ring and keeping how she “escaped” a secret from Sarah). It is also very possible that Chuck intends to propose to Sarah on the final episode and Ring agents mess things up. That could also be a “Ring” reference and also a kind of parallel between the finale of season 2 and 3: “Chuck vs. the Ring” (a wedding, wedding rings, we found out about The Ring) and “Chuck vs. the Rings” (engagement, engagement ring, Ring agents trying to mess things up).
