Chuck vs. the Podcast 56 – Living Dead, Lies, and Lost Writers

This week we talk about the 3rd episode from writing team Rafe Judkins and Lauren LeFranc, “Chuck vs. the Living Dead”. Plus, we deal with the issue on everyone’s minds — we are incredibly encouraged at the 4th season renewal but reeling from the number of lost writers because of Chuck‘s late pickup by NBC. If you haven’t yet read Gray’s blog on the issue, do yourself a favor and check it out.

We also have news, emails, and the last spoilers of the season, as the 2-hour season finale airs this Monday. Check your local listings for times!

Also, watch for a special podcast right after the finale airs on the West coast… you won’t want to miss it!

  1. Diamonds:
They’re DIAMONDS for goodness sake! KEEP THEM. “Diamonds are too hard to absorb bad luck — it’s part of their charm” (from Jeanne Ray’s book Step-Ball-Change) However, I would probably reset them so they’re completely different earrings.

  2. One of the best podcasts to date, IMO. Well done, Gray, Mel and Liz.

I appreciated Mel addressing the earrings topic.

Also appreciated Gray’s comment on the lying theme being overplayed a bit.

You steered clear (pretty much) from the plausibility of Shaw being alive though. Hmmmmmmmmmmm…

    Thanks for a great podcast.

  3. Thanks so much!

I think we stayed mostly clear from Shaw ’cause it’s kind of beating a dead horse for everybody (no pun intended).

My gut says he’ll be totally dead Monday night, but we’ll see.

    Cheers,
    G.

      So Say We All.

  4. I think at least some of these writers will return when their new shows are cancelled. Human Target and V were both suprise renewals and probably won’t last past next year and No Ordinary Family looks like its going to run out of steam fast.

  5. Hah, I loved the email with the Frightened Rabbit concert thing! That was an amazing story..

  6. Just llistened to the podcast and thanks for all the insights that I hadn’t noticed or thought about before.
One thing I just realized when you were talking about Ellie beaning Casey over the head with the frying pan, Justin had given her a gun but she chose not to use it…..like brother…like sister.

  7. hi there!
i´m a bit surprise about how many people saw the earing scene as a aceptable scene. no looking backs?
i was waiting for this podcast, a lot!
i respect the way Mel put is vision of chuck in words, and i´m kind of glad to found out her position, is not so different that my own.

it also breaks the idea that talk about our favorite show must be all the time about good things. it´s not an obligation, but it happens.
i don´t care if the explosion was to big or not, its not a accurate show about little things, its much more about caracter.
if something is different than that, oh boy…and the way people talk about…i mean, this website offer the possibilite to everybody express they thoughts, but ain´t our “house”.
should have the concern of express point of view, with respect. if not for the person who write a commentary, at least, for the people who create this place.
so, kind need to close this after my comentary in the rewiew of the show.
    thanks 🙂
    great job as usual.
