We Love Anna Wu: Site To Bring Back Julia Ling

Chuck fans, are you itching for a cause now that season 4 is a lock? How about joining the request to bring back Julia Ling as Anna Wu? WeLoveAnnaWu.com is the headquarters for that endeavor. Says owner Chris:

The mission of this website is to create a community for Anna Wu fans as well as create awareness for the love that exists for this unique and charming Nerd Herder from NBC’s TV show, Chuck.
Anna Wu, aka Julia Ling, was removed from the main cast of Chuck during Season 3 due to budget constraints.  We believe that losing Anna Wu takes away part of the original charm that drew us to Chuck from the very beginning, and we want her back!  Anna Wu is an integral part of the supporting cast of Chuck and can play a pivotal role in future story arcs – have you seen how dangerous she can be with a tripod in hand?  Who needs an Intersect when you have Anna Wu?
The ultimate goal of WeLoveAnnaWu.com is to become the driving force behind the fan effort to bring Anna Wu back to Chuck‘s main cast in Season 4.  To find out how you can help us bring Anna Wu back, please visit WeLoveAnnaWu.com.  We have a lot of great ideas planned, including contests and some exclusive Anna Wu content – so check back often!

  1. Not interested. Anna I think is the only main character that I don’t think is important to the show. “Chuck” can do without her.

    • Same. I never really minded Anna at all, but with or without her the show is just as good as it was before.

  2. yeah that story line is done… No need to bring back Anna. She provided some good laughs but bringing he back is a silly campaign.

    Rabid

  3. Folks, if you aren’t interested in joining the campaign, then don’t. No need to rain on other fans’ parade.

    • okay… just giving my opinion.

I still feel that Anna was not missed this season and the comedy triangle that is John Casey, Morgan, and Alex has too much potential to sabotage by making Anna a regular on the show. But nobody is going to stop you from taking up a cause during the summer even if the “cause” is kind of lame.

      Rabid

  4. I wouldn’t mind it if she came back, if Morgan is interested in Alex, Anna could be like a rival for his affections. After all, Morgan is Chuck 2.0 himself now, with a WT/WT scenerio for him? I think it could be fun.

    • I guess you missed the part where the Charah WT/WT dragged down a sizable part of Season 3….

      • Seems to me after the Charah WT/WT stopped the show ratings went down; maybe with a Morgan Anna Alex Jeff trapezoid they might go back up again.

      • I don’t think it was the WT/WT that killed the ratings. It was the why did they do that/and why didn’t they do this..Joke

      • I guess the WT/WT part for Charah didn’t bother me as much this season as it did for others Ambaryerno. Not being a huge shipper anyway, I was content to let things play out on their own but I understand people’s feelings on the subject.

  5. Hi All:

I think Anna could bring a little more flavor to Chuck. Her Kung-fu and IT skills could be beneficial. She is an unique character.

  6. Honestly, I don’t really care if they bring her back or not. I do however beleive that we need to bring in a new female character as a regular cast. Whether it be Anna or new fan favorite Alex, WE NEED ONE. It might even benefit us to bring in an actress from a syfy series because they tend to have loyal followers as well.Hey, even one the most hated charaters (Kristen) brought some fans with her but then again, she chased some fans out as well.:0

  7. No! morgex (or whatever it is) 4ever!! That has the potential to be 10 times funnier 🙂

  8. Anna Wu was a great character but I do not think it is necessary to bring her back full time. What I wouldn’t mind though is for her to come back for an episode or two and redeem herself a little. If I recall correctly, the last we saw of her was Morgan blowing her off. While it was an important moment for Morgan’s character, it seemed to me to be a weak last image of an otherwise strong-willed character that is Anna Wu. I think we need to see her kung-fu at least one more bad guy somehow or another to make give her a proper send-off.

    • Strong-willed character? She only came back for Morgan when it wasn’t working anymore with her Hawaii chef!

No, it was nice to see her for one episode, but it was obviously to give closure to Morgan’s relationship with her. Morgan has grown up, he has rejected her (Heck, even Sarah noticed), as being a thing of his past, a past that he doesn’t want to revisit.

Alex is Morgan’s possible future. Interesting thing is that it happened right before Alex’s return to the series.

    • We only have a few women actors on the show anyway with the guys taking the majority, it would be nice if we can even up the score a little.

  9. ermmm……i think there’s got pro and contra on this. For me i agree with what Eowyn said, if we bring back Anna to the series it will gv more flavor to Morgan, Alex, Anna, Jeff and Lester. because from what we know, lester also have feeling toward anna. Maybe from there Chris Fedak can elaborate more on their character. If we invite another female character, it’s maybe can increase up the rating like what CS said. For me either u bring Anna back or not, i believe all Chucksters still waiting there to see what will happen for season 4….

  10. Julia Ling rocks and the show is 100,000% better with Anna Wu. When Season 3 of Chuck was “on” there was no better show on TV. Period. BUT, NBC did a lot of damage to the consistency of the writing in Season 3 with all the imposed austerity measures. Give us back Anna Wu and another writer or two and commit to the show, NBC – and you will get your ratings. Guaranteed.

  11. I like the Anna Wu character in moderation. She is not an everyday player. As we have seen, entire episodes have gone by without appearances by some regulars, like Ellie, Awesome, Big Mike, Jeff or Lester. If she popped up every few episodes, that would be fine. Actually I’d like to see her alternate with Carina, who is much too juicy a character to use just once every two seasons, and who would be great to see 3 or 4 times during a 22-episode season. Now, a good comedic situation would be Carina and Anna both coming back to claim Morgan. He told them both “no” and they are both feisty, competitive characters who seem likely to rise to the challenge. Put that together with Morgan’s interest in Alex, where Casey is the one saying “no”, and you’ve got some laughs lined up for season 4.

  12. My family and I liked Anna Wu and missed her this year. No, she’s not integral to the show, but she did add a balance of normality to the nerd herders. Since everyone is now in on the secret spy life of Chuck, maybe Morgan keeping his life secret form Anna could add some interesting elements. Or if she joined team B with her sweet fighting skills, Morgan could now relate to how it was for Chuck as his girlfriend does all his fighting for him, again and again.

  13. Um… Why? The Buy More is no more, so she can’t return to her Nerd Herd role, and every possible place for her on Team Bartowski is already taken. Placing her back in Morgan’s life so that he has to keep her out of the loop of the spy world would be redundant, since we’ve just had three seasons of Chuck doing that.

The only way Anna could return is in another attempt to win Morgan back, which would be amusing to see Casey’s reaction to if Alex & Morgan develop into something.

To say Anna was integral to the supporting cast is a bit laughable.

    • I have to agree Chris. At first I didn’t like the way they were pushing for a relationship between Morgan and Alex but I’m warming up to the idea, provided Casey gives his blessing to the match if they’re meant to be other wise I’m not taking sides in either case. It could be interesting even funny to watch. 🙂

  14. While I like Anna and would enjoy seeing her back on the show, it all comes down to money. If they can’t afford to bring her back, I don’t think a petition will help.

  15. Sorry, the Anna Wu ship has sailed. Let it go.

  16. I think it would be good to bring Julia Ling as Anna back for a few episodes at least and have her and Yvonne Strahovski kick some “Ring” butt!!!!!!!!!!!!

  17. Bring Anna Wu back on a rotating basis with some other fan faves like Carina. It would be great to see Carina more than once every two years, maybe 3-4 times a season. And Anna would be cool to see about that much, too. It would be a great source of comedy to have a 3-way tug of war between Anna, Carina, and Alex over Morgan. And as Casey said, Anna has potential as a field agent. This could work.

  18. I would vote for an occasional appearance by Anna and even more so for Carina. Carina always gets things stirred up and it would be interesting to see her and Sarah interacting now that Sarah and Chuck are dating exclusively. My guess is that Sarah could now teach Carina a few things about what is important in life.

  19. there is no point in beating a dead horse. I want to see new talent on show with new story lines. Her character has piked at the end of season 2. Alex on the other hand is much better character is explore.

  20. I have to disagree with some of the posts here. What’s the point of bringing “new talent” to the show if they haven’t fully utilized the talent of the actors and actresses who were already part of the original supporting cast? I think Anna Wu’s character was written out prematurely and in a crappy way – having her run off with the chef in Hawaii was like writing out Jeff because he was thrown in jail for stealing from a 7-Eleven. Anna’s guest appearance at the end of Season 3 was purely to make a point about how Morgan has grown since the beginning of the season, and the way the writers did it belittled Anna, a character that used to be integral to the supporting cast of the show.

I found Anna Wu to be one of the more unique characters on the show, a bit of a misfit but sarcastic and humorous, someone who I believe many viewers could easily identify with (at least, I could) and wanted to know more about. Yes, the Buy More is gone (which sucks for many reasons), but there’s plenty of space for Anna in the show. Her parents are dignitaries of a foreign country, she knows martial arts, and she’s had close relations to the Bartowskis. It would be a shame if this is how her story ends and I’m in full support of this campaign.

    • I don’t have any problem with Anna. I really do like her but the fact of the matter is, the show survived without her, and the show did not lose nearly a million viewers because she left. I am more concerned with the status of the show. We need more VIEWERS and as much as I like Anna, if they can bring in someone new that can attract more viewers, then I will gladly say goodbye to her. There are 4 characters that I love in that show and I want to be able to follow them for more than just 13 episodes. Let us secure the safety of our favorite show first and then we can demand for Anna’s return.

      • I do understand where you’re coming from, but just realize that, for some of us, Anna Wu was one of those “characters that I love in that show and I want to be able to follow them for more than just 13 episodes.” No, the show didn’t lose a million viewers because she left, and I didn’t stop watching the show because she’s gone, but I think the idea of starting a petition to let the producers of Chuck know that people out there do care about Anna Wu is not going to jeopardize the show’s future in any way.

  21. I would like to see Annu Wu come back as competition for Morgan’s affections
with Alex. Might be fun to watch. Would also like to see Carina come back as
    well budget cuts permitting.

By the way, are those budget cuts going to be restored in Season 4? The cuts
really hurt the quality of the show in Season 3. Mel, can you comment on this?

    Thanks.

  22. Please don’t moderate my above comment/question. It is in line with the
topic and I would like to get an answer if one is available at tthe present time, thanks.

  23. Bring back Anna but have her hook up with Lester. Now that would be good TV.

  24. I’d rather that Ellie, Awesome and Morgan get more screen time. Having Anna off the grid allows for these three to have more story potential.

I do think Anna deserves one more episode to really give her a proper send off. She should be the focus of the plot and just realize that she and Morgan have grown apart or never really connected in the first place. It’d be great to see her exit with her head held high.

I always conisder the Buy More characters as extras and the main point of the show was Chuck’s two families: his professional with Sarah, Casey and Beckman and his personal with Morgan, Ellie and Awesome. Now that the walls are tumbling down the show is even cooler and more complex. Adding Casey’s family makes it even sweeter. I’d also love to see Sarah’s dad return.

    • I like what you said about Chuck’s two families, the walls between the two worlds though have crumbled uniting them all into ONE family of spies. Let’s face it, even Ellie, Devon, and Alex have what it takes in the spy world just as much as Chuck, Casey, Sarah, and Morgan do to fight and survive. Hopefully, Kathleen can return and Sarah’s dad Jack Burton as well. That would be fun. 🙂

  25. Run the back story of Anna’s parents and give a real reason for the Anna/Morgan breakup beyond the childish Benni Hanna line. Then work the spy/family/friend problem in the overall storyline as that is a show constant.
