Jonathan Frakes, best known as Star Trek: The Next Generation‘s Number One, William Riker, has carved out a second career for himself as a director. Per this interview with StarTrek.com, he’ll be directing an episode of Chuck this season (likely episode 8 or 9), which brings our Star Trek tally to three four: Frakes, Director/Producer Robert Duncan McNeill, Robert Picardo, and Scott Bakula.

A couple of weeks ago, I posted about the possibility of Nerd HQ’s return. Well, …
That’s SO exciting!
You forgot Robert Picardo ;]
I knew I was missing someone!
zac is getting in touch with his inner nerd
John Fleck (Dr. Zarnow) made a number of guest appearances on DS9 and Enterprise
Tony Todd (Graham) played Worf’s brother, Kurn, on several episodes of The Next Generation
That is Excellent!
Will Zac be directing again this season?
Who’s Jonathan Frakes? Is he good? And I second Doc’s question for Zack directing again.
“Who’s Jonathan Frakes?” If Morgan were here he’d slap you Hope!
Nah, just kidding… he’d hug you and sit you down to Star Trek TNG boxsets for several hours…
In all seriousness, he’s from Star Trek: The Next Generation where he played Commander William T Riker for over 7 seasons in the 90’s and then went on to star in several Star Trek movies. He’s actually been in TV since the 70’s ( I remember him in an episode of the original Fantasy Island) and has actually turned out to be a pretty decent director having done several feature films and shows outside of trek. I’d say his ability to act and direct are important in a show like this where it’s very ‘character’ driven. Good choice. I look forward to his stint in the director’s chair and see what he’s got for us.
Bonita Freidericy also guest starred in an episode of Enterprise.
Don’t forget that Bonita guest starred on an episode of “Enterprise” with Mr. Bartowski!!
That sounds good, he did a great job of directing episodes that I saw and one movie that I saw (clockstopers).

He’s also directed several episodes of the very good “Leverage.”
Wow, maybe we will get some more Trekies checking out Chuck.
How come Dr Flox aka Bonita’s husband hasn’t been on an episode of Chuck yet? I have seen him play a lot of different types of characters and he is quite good.
Of course they also need to get Tpol and 7 of 9 on Chuck – wouldn’t they make great Greta’s?
