As always this podcast is family and office safe.
First off, love hearing the podcast. I don’t agree with everything, but I love hearing everyone else’s opinions. There’s just one point I would argue about…and it doesn’t involve Chuck & Sarah. 🙂
One thing about the lying and Ellie. I think Devon was the force behind the lying in this episode. He suspected something is up and he did not want to a)hear about it and b)have anyone tell Ellie.
I think Chuck’s hesitancy to tell Ellie was reaffirmed by Awesome’s insistance that every is not allowed to “worry” Ellie.
If I was Ellie…..I’d be mad at everyone, but really mad at Devon because he is her partner and should have given her the benifit of the doubt.
Yes, that’s what I liked about how they handled the lying to Ellie. It’s not Ellie instigating it. I think if Chuck came clean and told her the truth she would be okay but Devon is preventing that happening with his over protection. I agree with you that Ellie is not going to be best pleased with her husband.
It was nice to see Sarah Lancaster have some good scenes; the photo montage was particularly well done.
Thanks for referring me over here to comment avoidinglaundry 🙂
Great podcast and lots of fun insight and opinions, even if I might not totally agree with them all…
I do somewhat agree with avoidinglaundry, in that everyone else is stepping up to LIE about Chuck…first Casey, then Sarah…and before Chuck even has a chance to say anything. I believe that Chuck’s going to get fed up with this charade and come clean to Ellie soon OR at least he better. I was willing to give Chuck the benefit of the doubt until after Ellie’s 1st trimester was over & it is, so let’s get on with it. I think it’s going to play out with Ellie mentioning something to Chuck about thinking about her Mom and he’ll come clean.
Devon is totally pushing for the lying to keep up as the guy is in total denial and I think everyone else is kind of feeding off that 🙂 For all his ‘awesomeness’ he is really fragile with the spy thing hehehe…
I also wanted to say that I LOVED the flash Chuck had on the rod too as it was the first time I think they really illustrated how fast a flash is. Very cool!
Viva la season de Morgan 🙂
First time listening to the podcast and I really enjoyed it, keep it up. There are some things as mentioned by avoidinglaundry that I wouldn’t necessarily see eye to eye with but to each his own really.
As far as the Ellie thing goes, we all realize it’s f’d up after all shes been through to still be lied to. As far as who’s the main culprit it’s obviously Chuck first and foremost. Lets not blame it to Awesome, Morgan, Sarah, or Casey before Chuck gets that one. Chuck knowingly informed the spy gang that he’s keeping not only his CIA gig from Ellie, but his mothers existence as a spy from her until he can figure out more. Sarah agreed and understood as a good loving GF would in support of her partner so I can’t really blame her. Plus it’s a family issue that she shouldn’t partake in just yet. Casey could give a rats arse, he’ll just tell Chuck and everyone things bluntly which is why we love him. Morgan’s “silence” as mentioned IS a form of lying. I’m sorry but staying silent and not verbally uttering words yay or nay when you obviously know the answer doesn’t excuse you. Ignorance is not an excuse and neither is staying silent. Everyone is apart of it equally IMO. Awesomes part? He suspected but he never got an answer, after all everyone is grown ups here with real life issues and no longer living under the same roof like before. Why should Awesome be in on things? If anyone was a civilian like Awesome they’d suspect something but not know the entirety of the situation, ie. Buy More being CIA More. Blaming Devon in the episode for not being a spy and only being suspicious with no clear answers is just excusing the real liars.
About the Jeff thing, he plays the creeper. We all know of one in real life, they exist. I don’t think that one liner was out of touch at all, in fact I would have expected as much from his character. Modern TV has become gut retching and immoral at times but more realistic with our modern reality than its ever been because of it. People might have felt offended or at odds but I laughed and thought it was the perfect way to welcome back the old gang. Plus Ellie is kind of like the hot sister of my friend that everybody is trying to “hit”. That’s kind of the funny side apart her character.
On a final note I believe people are looking way too deeply into Sarah’s security issues. This relates more to REAL LIFE than being a spy as the reason why she doesn’t move in, unpack, want to settle down, etc. Guys and gals have these same thoughts of fear, panic, nervousness, anxiety, insecurity, etc. in a relationship when it grows to this level. It just so happens the show flips the role of a stereotypical couple where the man is the girly guy and the girl is the manly girl (sexy though :)). I can’t say the spy thing is always at fault for this and it’s kind of unfair to blame her career all the time on her choices or insecurities. She doesn’t open up enough as a character to let you catch a glimpse as to whether or not it truly is about being a spy, or whether shes afraid of getting close and losing someone, or whether or not shes just scared about where she was before Chuck and where shes came now.
I’d like to see some inner workings of Sarah come into play at the same time Chuck is finding his mother. I mean we only know Sarah’s father was a con-man and went to prison as a child and was recruited immediately into the CIA as a trainee. There is soooooooooooo much more we could and SHOULD learn about her. I feel as if I can’t get a accurate projection on her character because I know so little.
I think what made Sarah change her mind and put her clothes in the closet was the fact that she (again) thought she might lose Chuck (the “I love you, Sarah” + shutting the door part), not the fact that she saw Sophia’s closet, after all, she only unpacked on the second time they came back from Milan.
I think she was “reminded” by the danger situation that shw could lose Chuck and that made her realize how silly the unpacking was compared to that.
It seems to me that Sarah constantly needs extreme situations to be able to see the bigger picture regarding to feelings, like with the Chuck “going crazy”+ doctor asking her if she had already told Chuck she loves him… it took all that mess for her to be able to tell Chuck that she loved him.
I think it is natural for her character to weigh her feelings basically only when she is “in your face” kinda confronted by them. She thought for a moment that she might really lose Chuck and the first thing she did when she came back was unpack.
I think Sophia’s closet had nothing to do with it.
