SPOILERS: Chuck Episode 4.05 Synopsis, 4.09 Title

NBC has now released the long, official synopsis – and a title correction – for Chuck episode 4.05, “Chuck vs. the Couch Lock”. Not “Look” but “Lock”. How does that change our speculation for this episode?

CHUCK’S LATEST MISSION PROVIDES A LINK TO CASEY’S PAST — AND POSSIBLY TO CHUCK’S MOM — ERIC ROBERTS, JOEL DAVID MOORE , DAVE BATISTA AND MEKENNA MELVIN GUEST STAR — When Colonel Casey’s (Adam Baldwin) former team returns looking for him, Chuck (Zachary Levi) must decide what he’s willing to sacrifice in order to find his mom. Elsewhere, Morgan (Joshua Gomez) works up the nerve to reveal a potentially dangerous secret to Casey. Yvonne Strahovski, Sarah Lancaster, Ryan McPartlin, Bonita Friedericy, Vik Sahay and Scott Krinsky also star.

And SpoilerTV says that the title for Chuck episode 4.09 is “Chuck vs. Phase Three”. I really hope that’s phase three of a Morgan plan.

  1. Probably the lock on the weapons compartment that Sarah hides in the Bartowski couch.

    • Yep, I was thinking that too. Of course it probably can mean something else too. It seems the titles generally have double meanings. Like Chuck vs. The Suitcase…at first glance we think it is about Sarah’s “Weird unpacking thing.” But there was another layer when they both realized that the Dress was concealing the chips and that was in the spy’s suitcase. This show is sooo much fun. 🙂

    • Great idea Doc I like that lol. 🙂

  2. What is the title of 4×08?

Perhaps the lock refers to what Dr Bob said: “a lock on the cache of weapons Sarah stores inside the couch.”

ps.: I found a definition for “couch lock” which is quite intriguing and not very CHUck-appropriate: (n.) “The state of being so high that you can’t get off of your couch; being unable to move/speak/stand.
    Joe: “You awake, Pat?”

    Pat: “…”

Joe: “Yeah, he’s couch locked.”” Any ideas? Could there be any (government issued) drug that renders Morgan “couch locked”? Oh, I am so confused.

    • or maybe a bad guy druggs chuck or morgan chuck was drugged by bryce in nemesis and by dr kowambe in versus the tooth maybe it will happen again or maybe im wrong and jeff gets high

  3. Doesn’t Casey find out about M/A’s romance in the Coup e’tat? Ugh, I have no clue what Alex sees in Morgan, I don’t like this romance at all, but I am looking forward to this episode.

  4. Perhaps that the episode in which we see Casey inside a coffin…

    • Maybe he fakes his death again. 😉

      • or maybe they open alex coburns grave and he pretends to be dead

      • Eww, gross.
Anyway, if they opened Coburn’s grave from 1989, I believe even if he had been embalmed (NOT), he would be a little more decomposed then a fresh-looking corpse, hehe.
        Not likely.

      • Besides that would explain the coffin. 😉

      • He might have to fake his death again in order to fool his former “A-team” :). Why would they come looking for Casey after all this time? They probably worked with Casey several years ago, before Operation Bartowski, before the other team from Chuck vs. the Ring (with that Miles guy), so waaaay back. Casey might go on a mission with them and then have to pretend to be dead so that they go away. Especially now that he apparently wants to be there for Alex, it is important for him that nobody besides those he can trust (Team Bartowski) stays around to realize he has a family, i.e., something to lose.
Perhaps someone on his A-Team might even be a double agent. Eric Roberts always has that bad-guy thing going for him, and Volkoff now knows who Casey is (he works with the public-transportation-master-spies), so who knows why they show up right now?….

      • And let’s not forget Ausiello’s scoop:

“Six-time WWE champion Batista, Expendables villain Eric Roberts, and Bones squintern Joel David Moore have signed on to guest-star as Casey’s former soldier-of-fortune buddies from the Clinton era.

        His A-Team, if you will.

The trio—who turn up in this season’s fifth episode, “Chuck Versus The Couch Lock”—have gone rogue and are back to seek revenge on their ex-comrade.”

So, they are bad-guys. Even Dr. Norm Spellman is evil too…:)

And I don’t really get the “soldier of fortune” reference. Isn’t a “soldier of fortune” like a mercenary? How could they have worked with “uncle Sam’s most faithful servant” and also be mercenaries? And how does a mercenary even go rogue? Aren’t they already “freelancers”?

Ooooh, unless Casey worked super secretly undercover with mercenaries and turned them in. That is a good reason for a new fake death.

      • Ohh, awesome theory. I like that, it seems like it could be the most plausible. Nice thinking Catarina. 🙂

      • Do you think they will go after Alex?
If they do they are dead meat.Forget Casey, they will have to deal with “The Morgan”.

      • Something tells me we won’t see the Morgan again apparently that was a one time deal. And Alex obviously can take of herself as we’ve seen. However, if memory serves me right, I heard in one of AB’s interviews, that he and Alex will be teaming up in a couple of episodes now that she knows the spy world, I bet she’d rock at it. 🙂

      • Hmm, Gord, you might have a point there. If they went after Alex, that would be a great way to pull her character very organically into the storyline and to make Morgan part of the mission to protect/save her.

      • Yuck that just left a bad taste in my mouth. Morgan protective? Sure he has his moments/ but saving? Uh uh, if he’s going to do that he better go with Casey and better watch where he puts his foot down.

      • I am not saying Morgan would be effective, but he would try. And it would be funny to see Michael Carmichael in action, hahaah.

      • But aren’t those three coming by for revenge? Casey wouldn’t have much choice to then to fake his own death again and then pick them off one by one with the aid of the rest of the gang.

  5. This isn’t really related to this post (but I am excited for this, and all, episodes) but does anyone know anything about chuck season 4 being up on itunes? because it’s not there yet and i was curious 🙂

      • thanx will, i was just thinking the same thing about the season 4 episodes.
