  1. You guy’s covered pretty much everything, but missed that the Their using The Ring’s bad guy music now for Volkoff Industries. Volkoff could use some Russian sounding music. ☺

    • Something from, ‘From Russia With Love,’ perhaps? 🙂

    • Heh! I *did* notice that, Bob, but promptly forget!

    • I don’t know I always liked Season 3’s bad guy theme which I guess is now referred to as “The Ring Theme”. Just like Cobrastyle which THANK GOD they finally fed my fix for that this episode, I think the Season 3 theme just fits in general. Just like you can predict a fight scene with Cobrastyle you can predict something bad is going to happen with the Ring Theme. Unless they find one thats better I stay stick with what they’re using. Something about that tune gets my anxiety going from the start in anticipation.

    • How about. . .”Go north. . .to Alaska. . .north to Alaska. . .north to Russia’s own…”

  2. Like I said on another thread, the show’s quality is decreasing rapidly, IMO. The season so far is looking pretty thin and weak and just more of the same. It’s like this season has no identity or real purpose. The character dynamics are not working out so well.

The reviewer from AVClub puts it well,

“I apologize if this reads as angry. I really like this show and I’m frustrated at the trend I’m noticing this season. Chuck, truly, has no more tricks up its sleeve, at least not yet. Seasons two and three took the show forward in a big way, and four, so far, is simply treading water.”

I really like this show but maybe it’s about time for it to end before it gets worse?

    • I disagree. This season has been strong for me so far, with the promise of the Mama Bartowski/mythology arc on the way. I’m excited about seeing the emotional payoff from season 3 and the repercussions of finding Mama B.

      • Because I love the show, I don’t “hate” the “Cubic Z”, but by “Chuck” standards it was weak. In past seasons, things happened quickly to the point where I needed to rewatch the ep just to catch something I’d missed. The editing was tight as a drum because they always had other stuff they had to get to. The “Cubic Z” had one fight scene after another that went on and on, and the Buy More climax did the same. It smacked of “filler”, that they didn’t have other stuff they needed to get to, that they’d come up short and needed to stall for time. The story itself was fine and would have been scintillating had it been a half-hour show.

  3. On the timeline issue that came up: I always just assumed that we are meant to believe that it somehow ends up averaging out to one a week, but the pacing of the show always seems fluid to me. Dates, when they come up, more or less coincide with real time, but it seems like there are too many exceptions for there to be a solid rule. There are references to things from the previous episode like they’re yesterday a heck of a lot. For instance, the final arc of season 3: Ellie leaves Africa in 3×15, just got back in 3×16, so more or less next day or two (esp. given Justin has already arranged a flight), Chuck has his dream at the end of 3×16 and talks to Morgan as if it just happened in 3×17, so more or less next day, Ellie didn’t come home “last night” in 18 after capture in 3×17, so more or less next day, and none of these episodes lasts a week, most lasting probably less than half of one. On the flipside, there are 2 weeks between Honeymooners and Role Models, for instance. Same applies with all arcs: the Jill arc, first Orion arc, eps. 3-4 and 11-13 in S3, 9-10 in S1. I feel like it is an exercise in futility to get the timeline in Chuck to fit any realistic mold at all.

    Thoughts? Am I crazy?
