Alan Sepinwall at HitFix has some casting scoop in the form of mini-series veteran Richard Chamberlain. He’ll join Chuck for two episodes, 4.08 and 4.09, as Adelbert De Smet, aka “The Belgian,” who we mentioned in a spoiler piece a couple of days ago. The casting notes describe the character as “an international spy who’s as elusive as he is ruthless. When he crosses paths with Operation Bartowski, he becomes one of Chuck’s most dangerous foes yet.”
Is he connected to the elusive Volkoff? Does Mama Bartowski have any experience chasing him? These episodes air in November.
First Bond, now the original Jason Bourne.
Awesome now these terrible first few episodes don’t sound too bad…at least I hope so. This might be the best ones to come. 😀
What terrible episodes? I’ve enjoyed these first three immensely.
Sorry Mel, poor choice of words they just didn’t feel up to par with what I’ve cometo expect with Chuck. They’re fine just not spectacular.
I feel the same way, hope.
Except for a few less enjoyable episodes in Season 3, I enjoyed all episodes and love quite a few. As for this season, I agree with Mel, I enjoyed all 3 episodes a lot and eagerly look forward to many more to come. I also agree with some previous comments that even an average episode of Chuck is still more enjoyable than most of other shows.
The acting has been fine. It’s the writing that has me worried, especially after the “Cubic Z”. Getting Chamberlain is a real coup. But they could bring Humphrey Bogart back to life and if the writing stinks, it still stinks.
I’ve really liked the first three episodes and am glad to see they casting some pretty good actors.
I love all 3 episodes. Hope Chuck intersect be upgraded to intersect 3.0.
I absolutely agree. The writing is the most difficult task and it has me a bit worried. “Chuck” tries to mix so many things – action, comedy, drama – and tell a fun story at the same time. It strikes me that writing good episodes that deliver this mix each time is hard.
Having said this, I have enjoyed the episodes of season 4 so far (much more so than the beginning of season 3), but 4×03 was my least favorite. I am a huge Chuck fan and I am looking forward to the episodes to come.
(I am really hoping for the back 9 pick up….)
I happen to dissagree the premere felt like watching a movie
Well, they moved Sarah a little bit, a because of this, overall last episodes was not totally wasted. At last she showed a little bit of initiative in this relationship.
There is not nearly enough emotion for us in this mother search so far. I like this whole Linda Hamilton idea, but they didn’t “sell” it. It’s too distant and abstractive.
There is no real danger, nor growing arc for Chuck, and because of that this whole new season is torn to little pieces of action, drama and comedy, but it’s just don’t work together, as it used to.
And I have enough of Greta legs. I mean, I don’t mind pretty girls, but this whole Greta thing is so far a little bit of waste of time and by any means not really necessary. It feel forced.
