Yvonne Strahovski’s PETA Ad: Be An Angel

Yvonne Strahovski and her dogs Chazzie and Wilbur are front and center in a new PETA ad that asks potential pet owner to “Always Adopt. Never Buy.” This message is dear to her heart – Yvonne’s two little pups were adopted from Ken-Mar Rescue.

“There are just so many dogs that are just as gorgeous―whether they’re mixed or purebred or whatever―they’re all gorgeous, and they all have personalities, and they all need a home,” shares Yvonne in an exclusive behind-the-scenes interview with PETA.

Whatever your personal feelings about PETA, this post is about Yvonne’s desire to spread the word about adoption vs. puppy mills. The end.

  1. My biggest respects for you, Ivonn! Every person has to think about the others, especially if they are weaker than you and defensless as the dogs. I am from Ukraine and here we have a big problem with stray dogs and cats and some people try to do something for them, but it is very difficult when there is a plenty of them. So, I admire you Ivonn that you help them by this way! Thank you from all of them. I whish that the movie stars in Ukraine also could do something like that.

  2. She’s been our angel for a long time now. I guess it’s time to share her for a good cause. 😉

  3. PETA sucks! It is an extremist organization that wants nothing more than to legislate their morality onto the rest of us in proscribing the consumption of meat and the wearing of leather, given the opportunity. Nevertheless, the message of adopting pets from shelters is a worthy message.

    • I agree that the message of adopting pets from shelters is a worthy message, and I agree that PETA is an extremist “animal rights” organization. However, I think that many, if not most, people who volunteer for work there and who donate to the organization are ordinary folks who are generally nice and have good intentions.

    • Like any other advocacy group, they probably engage in behaviour that can be called self-serving. Like any other group with political clout, they probably advocate positions which offend the political sensitivities of some. But they also serve those for whom they advocate, the animals. As humans, we balance the needs of mankind with those of the animals. So while we still experiment on them to find cures for diseases, we no longer see the need to sacrifice them to human vanity by testing beauty products on them. PETA has been instrumental in raising awareness on this matter. Yvonne’s heart is in the right place here.

  4. I don’t see eye to eye with PETA on everything (I see nothing wrong with eating meat), but I can totally get behind them on this. I live in Pennsylvania, and there are a disgusting number of puppy mills in our state, particularly in Lancaster County. Any effort to persuade people to get dogs from shelters instead of puppy mills is a good thing. And of course, kudos to Yvonne for her advocacy in this issue.
