WARNING: Spoilers for the second half of Chuck season 4 ahead!
Chuck returns with the first of 14 new episodes on January 17 and it looks like the second half of season 4 is going to be full of exciting events. We know a few specifics already and I’m eager to watch them unfold.
- A Birth: Baby Awesome is due to make her arrival at the end of January/beginning of February. I’m a name geek, so I’m eager to find out what little Miss Woodcomb will be called (Mary for a middle name?), but more than that I cannot wait to see how she impacts our heroes. We already know Awesome is having doubts about his Awesomeness as a father, which should be amusing, but I’m anticipating some incredibly tender moments from the new parents, from Grandma B, from Uncle Chuck, and from Sarah, Casey, and Morgan. I think I’m most anticipating seeing Casey’s reaction, now that we (and he) know he missed the birth of his own daughter.
- A Proposal: We know it’s coming. Sarah knows it’s coming. But when? How? Will it be in the land where Chuck and Sarah finally were on the same page at the same time? Will it be on the beach where they shared their first “real” moment? Will it be an elaborate proposal or will it be a private, tender moment? How many pieces of fan art and fan fiction will it inspire? No pressure there, Bartowski.
- A Job Offer: The CIA appears to be reasserting themselves in Operation Bartowski by recruiting NSA Colonel Casey for the National Clandestine Service. Will he accept? What does this mean for Team Bartowski? For Alex? For General Beckman? We’ve seen Casey choose career and duty in the past, but he’s such a part of the Bartowski family now, and is daughter is a part of his life, I can’t imagine this will be an easy decision for him.
- A Seducer: Roan is back! Last seen in early season 2, John Larroquette reprises his role as Roan Montgomery in February to assist with another seduction mission. What will he think when he sees that Chuck and Sarah are together? I’m guessing he’ll take some of the credit. And how will Beckman react to his return?
- A Seductress: Carina is back! We last saw her in bed with Morgan after stirring the pot with Chuck and Sarah early in season 3. Now she returns as part of the Cat Squad, which I anticipate will give us insight into Sarah’s professional past. What will she think when she sees that Chuck and Sarah are together? Will she go after Morgan again, resulting in a throwdown between Carina and Alex?
These are the events I’m most anticipating as the rest of season 4 gets underway. How about you?

Whatever they name the baby I just hope the rest of Team Bartowski calls her Baby Awesome! lol.
It might not necessarily be “romantic,” and it certainly won’t be as elaborate as the “proposal plan,” but how about something simple & sweet – and spur of the moment and unexpected? Chuck has the ring on him, is planning something “grand,” but pops the question to Sarah at the place where they first met – at the Nerd Herd counter at the Buy More!! (of course, WITHOUT Jeff or Lester around to muck it up!). The romantic dinner and all the rest can come after – the place where they first set eyes on each other would be appropriate – and I think definitely unexpected!
And PLEASE, NBC – if you’re not going to renew the show for at least a 13 episode “mid-season replacement” Season 5, then let’s get the wedding into this season, too!
I think spur of the moment. Chuck will have something eloborate planned, things happen and doesn’t work out. Then, Chuck and Sarah’s relationship develops a crisis and Chuck proposes when he thinks he will lose Sarah forever. Kind of similar to when he told Sarah he loves her at the end of American Hero.
Chuck lose Sarah after Phase 3? Not gonna happen. Those two are closer than ever. Besides I don’t think TPTB would risk it.
Good “fiveâ€, Mel. Some comments:
(1) Name the baby Stephanie Elizabeth, which honours the recently-deceased (?) Steven Bartowski, and uses Mama B’s middle name.
(2) Chuck always tries too hard, trying to flash for Sarah, being a spy for Sarah, and so forth. He seems to think that he’s still not good enough for her the way he is. I think that if he tries to get too elaborate with the proposal, things will go awry. Perhaps he’ll realise that Sarah has always been attracted to his simple charm and the promise of a “normal life†that she never had, and he’ll tailor his proposal accordingly.
(3) When Casey lamented that he’d gone soft and made friends, his daughter seemed to convince him that it wasn’t such a bad thing after all. He’ll wrestle with the offer, but in the end he won’t leave his daughter, his friends, and the best partner(s) he’s ever had.
(4) Roan’s initial delight will be limited to the fact that Chuck has won Sarah physically. He might be dismayed that Chuck violated Rule Number One, “A spy doesn’t fall in loveâ€. The triumph would be if observing Chuck and Sarah could change his mind on that matter.
(5) Carina’s thoughts on Chuck and Sarah would likely parallel Roan’s. The possibility of a donnybrook with Alex sounds exciting. Alex can fight, as we saw when she roughed up Casey. And as far as Morgan is concerned, nothing would say “I love you†more than Alex issuing Carina a solid beat-down.
Good grief! This all sounds like fun! Can’t wait for CHUCK vs. The Balcony! Will Monday ever get here?

I seriously think that there’s going to be a Stephanie in Baby Awesome’s name somewhere, for Papa B. Well, okay, I at least hope.
I was thinking Stephanie would have to be in the name as well.
Wouldn’t it be really sweet of Ellie to include Sarah in the name?
How about: Sarah Stephanie Charlotte Mary Woodcomb.
I wonder if she will ask Casey to be the godfather. Nobody would mess with baby awesome with Casey as the godfather.
I wonder if in the episode Carina is returning we will get a real engagement party (Chuck and Sarah) to go along with Carina’s fake engagement party in 3 words last season.
I’m more waiting to see how Mary B ends up. Is she good? Is she bad? Will she work with Team B when Volkoff is taken down? Will she be in the cell next to Volkoff?
Chuck asking Sarah to marry him will not be that big. After all Chuck was drunk and on the floor before Sarah told Chuck she loved him from the first time they met.
This is great I can’t wait.
1. I hope Baby Awesomes arrival will trigger more female bonding between Sarah & Ellie. S2 they developed a friendship, S3 we received glimpses of it, and S4 their friendship feels non existent. Women need friends and maybe Sarah can help with the birth in some way.

3. They can recruit Casey all they want but I doubt he is going. Team B wouldn’t be the same.
4. Ahh Roan I am really excited to see him come back. I hope Thailand is involved in this mission. White dinner jacket and a single rose…..he is smooth. It would be funny if he ended up giving Awesome tips to seduce Ellie. After a baby seduction is far from a new parents mind.
5. Carina coming back….hmmm I wonder how much trouble she will stir up? Well I am still glad she is back and I can’t wait to see her again.
Oh man can’t wait until Monday.

u forgot to mention in number 1 AUNT SARAH . im want to watch that the most her reactions towards a baby
I hope that prior to the end of Chuck season 4 there is a wedding–I am concerned there may not be a season 5–if there is going to be a season 5 I guess I could wait (although I feel the sooner the better for the wedding). I keep thinking we will see Sarah and Chuck hanging upside down by a rope at the top of a 30 story building and Chuck will then pop the question–hoping for a fast answer as acid is dripping on the rope.
A week from Monday I am scheduled for my heart to be catheterized and possibly have angioplasty and a stent– for some reason I am more worried about Chuck episodes remaining positive for the Chuck and Sarah relationship–How sick is that!! They tell me I had a heart attack sometime–I think it was probably when I found out “Life” was not renewed for a third season.
Life was such an amazing show I was devastated when it ended.
I can not wait for the awesomette to be born!!!
