Happy Friday! I feel like celebrating because 1) it’s Friday; 2) the sun is shining after 8 days of gray skies; and 3) I survived a series of minor heart attacks induced by accidentally deleting the wrong file while updating software on the site. God bless BigBro and his insistence on talking to me about MySQL and phpMyAdmin! Anyway, as we head into the weekend, here’s a round-up of items worth knowing:
- Mark Christopher Lawrence announced that he’ll produce the first annual Big Mike Comedy Show at San Diego Comic Con on July 22. Tickets go on sale in about a week. (No, that’s not confirmation of a season 5, but it’s still pretty cool.)
- Speaking of comedy, it’s the first Friday of the month, which means Mark is hosting First Fridays Comedy Night in Los Angles tonight! The show starts at 8:30pm @CafeMuse 6547 Santa Monica Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90038
- Bailey (aka LittleChuckFan) launched her fundraiser for St. Jude’s Childrens Hospital today with a goal of $5210.00, the amount she raised last year thanks to the Chuck fandom. This is honor of her classmate, Kaley, who underwent treatment and is now cancer free. Want to help her out? Donate here.
- The Hulu Best In Show poll is coming down to the wire! This is the last weekend to vote, so click away!
- USA Today is has a “save your show” survey in today’s online version of the paper. Go to the “Life” section and take the survey which asks each person taking the survey which shows to “Drop” “Keep” or “Don’t care.” Vote to Keep Chuck and don’t forget to include your demographic information. (Thanks, Josh!)
- The SFX Blog Awards are still running, and ChuckTV.net is nominated. We’d appreciate your vote!
Chuck will probably be picked up for at least a parial 5th season, USA Today: ‘Perennial bubble show Chuck cheated death throughout its four seasons, but producer Warner Bros. has a financial incentive to compromise on costs for at least a partial-season pickup. The show will have aired 74 episodes by May, nearing the total needed to sell the show in syndication, TV’s profit generator.’. This is about earnings on the longer term and believe me if I say that NBC will take this in to account concerning renewal.
Yep, we’ve been talking about that since last autumn when NBC ordered 11 additional episodes instead of the traditional 9. Those two extra episodes mean that a full, 22-episode season 5 would hit the 100 episode mark which Warner Bros. really, really, really wants. That is one of the biggest elements working in our favor for one more season.
I voted in the USA Today poll and I gave a very good comment about Chuck. I wish I had copied it so I could post it here. Darn!
