Chuck Fashion: Ellie’s Rehearsal Dinner

The lack of new Chuck episodes is giving us a chance to catch up on some fashion queries from older episodes. We have two from the same episode that have been driving a couple of fans crazy. Chuck costume designer Robin Lewis-West is here to save the day!

Kerry and Chelsey have been trying to find Ellie’s rehearsal dinner dress from “Chuck vs. the Colonel” for almost two years now! Well ladies, Robin is happy to help you out, but with such an old dress it’s not good news. The beautiful Grecian-inspired purple gown is by Marchesa from their Spring 2009 collection. They’ve moved on to a floral and ruffles motif now so the dress is no longer available, although their Notte collection has some long Grecian gowns. We found a couple of alternatives that might suit you, though: a short black version from Max Studio, a floor length lilac version from Rachel Pally (WANT!), and a short blue version with a wide gold belt from Halston. Paired with metallic sandals and loose hair, any of these dresses would be terrific for summer! Your other options are to check with high-end consignment stores in your area and ask them to be on the look out for it, or watch eBay in hopes someone in your size wants to clean out their closet.

CeCe was struck by another dress in “Chuck vs. the Colonel”, the blue cocktail dress Sarah wears to the party following that incredibly romantic but aborted rendezvous with Chuck at the motel. I’m still fanning myself after that scene! Robin reports that the simple blue dress is by BCBG from their Spring 2009 collection. Again because this is from an old collection, you’re not going to find it available in stores. Consignment stores and eBay are options, or maybe one of these alternatives will strike your fancy: a nude slip dress by Liviana Conti for a “barely there” look, this midnight blue strappy dress by Cynthia Vincent is somewhat similar, Macy’s has a dress in the juniors’ section that comes close, and JS Boutique has a pretty teal dress that might be a good option.

We’re working on tracking down some of Morgan’s shirts that y’all have been asking about, and with any luck they’ll be next week’s feature. In the meantime, if you have a burning question, drop us a line and we’ll try to get the answer for you.

  1. Curse you, Mel! Your fashion column has awakened the fashionista in me! Not by any desire to wear the featured clothes (not happening, folks!) but now when I see a pretty dress in a boutique window I imagine it on Yvonne or Sarah L. and wish that the wardrobe people had a chance to see it too. 😉

I sure do miss Casey’s funny cover disguises. Budget cuts? Maybe they can throw us a bone over one of the remaining episodes this season and do something other than “bartender”. *fingers crossed*

  2. Hi Mel! I’ve really been wondering about the whol outfit Sarah wore to the final balcony proposal scene in 4.11. The jacket, the shoes… I want it all! Thanks!
