Friday Five: Most Outrageous Jeff and Lester Moments

Mel’s Note: Cay is back with a look at those loveable goofballs, Jeff and Lester.

Listening to the mp3 of Lester’s cover of Send Me On My Way by Rusted Root this week (love it!) got me thinking of all the crazy, obscene and just plain ridiculous exploits that Jeff and Lester have been involved in. I thought it would make a great Friday Five, except for the fact that I had a really hard time picking the most outrageous five moments. For that matter, I couldn’t narrow it down past 6, so this week we get a bonus, Honorable Mention moment as well the Friday Five. Be sure to tell me all your favorite moments that I’ve left out!

Friday Five: Top 5 Most Outrageous Jeff and Lester Moments

  1. The aisle of terror (Chuck vs the Aisle of Terror) – We knew when Morgan put Jeffster in charge of decorating the store for Halloween that hilarity would ensue, but I for one wasn’t expecting the “terrifying” result. “Is it a baby, or a snail?”, “feet”, “old people”, “otters”. The inner workings of Jeffrey Barnes’ brain are scary indeed.
  2. Awesome’s bachelor party (Chuck vs the Broken Heart) – Jeffster kidnaps Awesome to throw him a bachelor party because they’ve never been to one and know they won’t get invited otherwise. Turns out it’s a party for the ages – Subway subs, lots of alcohol, and discount strippers, including Jeff’s sister (!). The party really gets interesting when Agent Forrest (sent in to investigate Chuck and Sarah’s relationship) crashes the party dressed as a real stripper and drugs Awesome to steal his hospital key card.
  3. On the lam (Chuck vs the Suitcase) – Suspects in the Buy More bombing after Jeff suggests to Big Mike that they burn the Buy More minutes before it explodes, Jeffster have gone native, living a feral existence (while taping it) in Loretta (Jeff’s van) while hiding from the “PoPo” far from civilization. They are so despondent that Jeff even adopted a pet rock. We soon find out that “far from civilization” is “7 minutes from Burbank, with traffic” when Morgan and Casey go out to bring them back to the Buy More to decrease its efficiency and thus preserve its cover.
  4. Fight club (Chuck vs Operation Awesome) – After Chuck loses control of the Intersect and karate kicks Lester in the face, Jeffster start a fight club in the stockroom cage, complete with the cables from a car battery hooked to the cage. Soon all the Buy Morons are sporting shades to cover black eyes, bruises and cuts and poor Morgan faces yet another test of his leadership.
  5. The green shirt “casting couch” interviews (Chuck vs the Beefcake) – When Morgan tasks Jeffster with finding a new green shirt, they invent the “Buy More Babe” and start interviewing models for a fake prestigious, high-paying spokesmodel position. Among other atrocities, Jeff wears a white bathrobe with nothing on underneath. The gig is up when Lester tells one of the interviewees that they are “bosses with benefits” and then implicates Chuck as being in charge when she realizes she’s been had. The girl stalks out of the Buy More, runs into Chuck coming in, and slaps him while saying that she is going to get her lawyer.

Honorable Mention:

The stolen marlin (Chuck vs the Marlin) – After getting busted by Chuck for their “mammary cam” where they filmed the cleavage of a beautiful delivery girl who just happens to be a Fulcrum agent, Jeffster gets drunk at Bennigan’s and go back to the Buy More to steal Big Mike’s stuffed marlin, which happens to be where the enemy agent has put the receiver to a bunch of bugs hidden in the store. Jeffster just miss the CIA who is also “robbing” the Buy More looking for the bugs and the receiver. They hide the marlin at Chuck’s leading to a frantic chase as Chuck and company try to find the fish, the receiver, and Ellie’s engagement ring.

  1. MyNameIsJeffNImLost

How could you leave out the most outrageous moment of the entire series: ruining Awesome and Ellie’s first wedding?

  2. An observation on the point #3, On the lam wasn’t on Chuck vs the Pink Slip it was in Season 4 Chuck vs the Suitcase

    • Oops… you are correct. Not sure how I screwed that up – I have corrected it. Thanks!

      • Also worthy of mention: Jeff and Lester’s “on the lam” adventures with Big Mike leading up to the release of “Halo: Reach” that took them to the Encino Buy More to pick up the game. Videos might still be on YouTube. 😀

      • I checked and those videos are still up: Just do a YouTube search for “Buy Hard The Jeff and Lester Story” (minus quotes)

  3. I won’t apologize for it. I love Jeffster! But you left off my personal favorite moment. When Jeffster helped Ellie “Push It”

    • I Totally agree with you on that one. Jeffster has had some pretty outrageous moments but the “Push It” cover over the PA in the hospital lobby is priceless and at the top of my list.

  4. I would have to include their video, “Blaze of Glory”. That still blows me away. There are no words to truly describe that moment.

  5. One of my favourites was when Jeff and Lester are stalking Sarah Walker’s new stallion (Shaw) in American Hero. Jeff: “Stalkers Log …”
Lester: “Jeffrey don’t make me uncomfortable to be alone with you.”
I mean Jeff was like the Picasso of creepiness in that episode. LOL

  6. Couch Lock episode, lol
    Casey: “…need extraction…in an alley…4th and Hill. I’ll be in a dumpster.”
Jeff: “Don’t worry, Casey. I know that dumpster.”

  7. Cage fight for Morgan’s decision on the next AssMan: One will be Assistant Manager and one will be… Jeff.

I can’t remember which epi it was, so any help would be appreciated. I just love that line.

Also, “The stir that stirs the drink” and “My name is Jeff – J-Jeff – Jeff!”

  8. Just thought of something else – How about in First Date when Jeff and Lester are being interviewed for the assistant manager’s position.
