SPOILERS: Chuck Season 5 Scoop from the TCA’s

The Chuck team wasn’t part of NBC’s official presentation at the TCA Summer Press Tour yesterday, but they did attend the cocktail party last night and spilled some details about what’s ahead in season 5 with reporters from EW and AOL TV. They didn’t reveal anything major, but just in case, SPOILER ALERT!

Joshua Gomez talked to EW about Morgan having the intersect, cautioning that his character’s brain may not be able to handle it. Now where have I heard that before?

“There’s that whole growing process for Morgan as the intersect, and like what happened with Chuck, we don’t know exactly what effect it’s going to have,” Gomez told EW during the Television Critics Association press tour. “It, obviously, doesn’t run and work in everyone’s brain the same way. The potential is there for it to go a little haywire. And I’m sure — if I know these writers — I’m in trouble.”

Regardless of what transpires, Gomez says Morgan (at least starts off) loving his new abilities. “I think that in true Morgan fashion — and this is a scary thing — I don’t think he knows how scary it can be,” he says. “He’s completely gung-ho. It’s something he thinks is the coolest thing ever. It’s every nerd’s dream, ‘I can be a superhero! Chuck, I can do it!’ Chuck, meanwhile, is, like, ‘Woah, woah, woah. Slow down.’”

Mo Ryan caught up with Chris Fedak, Vik Sahay, and Scott Krinsky to learn more about Carrie-Anne Moss’s guest arc plus which member of JEFFSTER! is headed for the the clink.

“What we wanted to do this season is really kind of open up [Casey] to a new romantic relationship, and we thought we needed someone as badass as him,” Fedak said. “Carrie-Anne seemed like the perfect fit.”

Fedak said that, as we learned at Comic-Con, this season Jeff and Lester’s musical and personal relationships enter ‘Behind the Music’ territory. All is not well between them, to put it mildly.

“Like late Lennon-McCartney, there’s bound to be a point where that relationship really needs to come to a head,” Fedak said. “So we have a lot of dramatic, exciting changes for Jeff and Lester — that may lead to one of them winding up in jail.”

  1. If Jeff’s the one going to the pokey, maybe he can room with his mom.

  2. The ‘Gertrude’ storyline already makes me sad…. What happened to Kathleen??

    • In season 4, we (and Casey) saw that Kathleen was happily engaged to another man. That leaves Casey free to find love elsewhere.

  3. Kathleen engaged? I didn’t hear or see that, just Alex saying that her mom was happy for the first time in years and was reluctant to disrupt that. When Kathleen finally learned the truth about Casey she concluded that he had everything he had ever wanted. Yet my guess is that Casey still has feelings for her. His success or failure with Gertrude could open up his true feelings for Kathleen.

  4. I’m commenting to let you understand of the fine encounter my cousin’s princess went through checking your web site. She realized a wide variety of things, not to mention what it is like to have a wonderful helping character to get men and women completely have an understanding of specified impossible things. You truly exceeded our expected results. Thanks for producing such productive, trustworthy, informative not to mention cool guidance on that topic to Jane.
