Mel’s Note: ChuckTV.net regular commenter Doctor Bob sent me the very best kind of get well card: content for the site! Here’s his Friday Five, looking ahead to what Carmichael Industries could tackle this season.
Remember when Sarah told Chuck in “the First Date” that “a spy doesn’t get to choose” her next mission? Now that they are free-lancers, they get to choose! What missions would they now choose for themselves? Any unfinished business? Axes to grind? New adventures that appeal to their altruistic natures? Here’s five examples:
- Hunt for Jill: She’s been on the lam since the spring of 2009. Probably friendless and with both the government and remnants of Fulcrum still looking for her. Can she be redeemed? Chuck would like to think so. Sarah would be leery for a couple of reasons.
- The resurgence of Triad takes the gang to Hawaii where they cross paths with Harry Tang and Anna Wu. Plus they get to say “pineapple” at Tang’s current place of employment.
- Search for Sarah’s mom: “Chuck” is too interesting a show to waste an opportunity like this. You just know that the origin of their estrangement is not over some trivial matter. There is a riveting piece of backstory lurking out there and it must be tapped!
- Rescue Manoosh: When Chuck was an asset he was always on the verge of being taken underground. It must weigh heavily on him that as a spy he had to burn his first asset. Team Bartowski could use a talent like Manoosh and has the chops to break into a CIA detention facility.
- Overseas mission in support of MI-6: Team Bartowski in London! Great chance to get together with Volkoff, his mum and daughter, Cole Barker and that guy on the rooftop that got mistaken for Ciudad in “the Tango”.
Thanks, Doctor Bob! Now over to the rest of the Chucksters: which missions do you think Carmichael Industries should tackle?
Though i love the jill plot because of jordana brewster, since its the reson i started watching chuck, its going to be hard since she now how her own show
I agree with several of your ideas. I think the missions of S5 should be dedicated to tying up the loose ends that have accumulated.
I agree with Jill. There is also the matter of Chuck telling Sarah that he helped Jill escape while Sarah was being shot at and gave her an expensive ring to fund her getaway. Does that earn him a night on the couch. I would also like to see how Jill plays against the newly married couple. Sarah was jealous before, but she kept in internalized. Now that they’re married, would that still be true?
The biggest thing that I want tied up is what happened to Frost and Orion during those twenty years. If Frost was simply watching over Agent-X, why didn’t Orion know that?
Some good ideas there, Doctor Bob. I don’t agree with all of them though.
1. Jill is one of my least favourite characters. In fact there is only one character that stops her being my ultimate least favourite. The whole arc didn’t work for me at all and the only way to make it right would be for her to come back and prove to Chuck, that she is the conniving, manipulative, cheating b…b…..brunette that I believe her to be.
2. A Triad mission could be interesting. I didn’t like Tang at the Buy More but it might be interesting to see him again. Of course, that’s as long as Hawaii wasn’t a euphemism for something much more sinister. 😮 It would be good to see Anna’s fighting skills put to better use too.
3. The story of Sarah’s mom really needs to be revealed. I agree with you DoctorBob, there has to be an interesting story there for their relationship to be ‘strained’. I just hope she’s not revealed to be a spy. That’s a bit too cliched for me.
4. Manoosh was a douche and deserved all he got. That is all.
5. I would love to see them work with or come up against MI6 again, especially Cole Barker. But an episode set in England? Did you see Masquerade? No, please no! Keep them on foreign soil.
On a more serious note, I think the writers have a rare opportunity to tie off many loose ends but they probably need more episodes than they have to please everyone. Even so; personally, I hope season 5 finishes the series on a high with episode 5.13.
Hi, In terms of point 3 Sarah’s Mother – I can see her being linked to the overall Conspiricy arc somehow. Don’t know tho. Maybe because Sarah didn’t go into the “Family Business” is why their relationship is so strained!
Or maybe the relationship is strained because Sarah got left at her grandmother’s place when her parents split up. I don’t know; I’m just not particularly excited about Sarah’s mom being a spy too. It’s a bit too ‘Alias’ for me.
Are they really gonna start a spy company with 3 spies and Morgan? Shouldn’t they hire more people as… Cat Squad or Cole Barker or Agent Forest, i don’t know… it would be fun to see they all working together…
I like your idea’s but with respect to Manoosh, I don’t think they should try to rescue him, because he really deserved to be in the underground bunker – he tried to use his skills for evil rather than good.
However, I would like to see Manoosh again, but I’m thinking that he escapes and wants to take revenge on team Bartowski.
WHAT IS THE FASINATION WITH MANOOSH! He was an above average one episode character that is over and done with now. He created a weapon and then tried to sell it to anyone that would give him a lot of money. He does not deserve even a mention in the FINAL season of chuch that will only be 13 episodes long.
Bryce gets shot in the chest, and is brought back to life. Shaw is shot in the chest, and is brought back to life, Papa B is shot in the chest, and ?????? Seems to me there is a Papa B story, and family reunion to be told, that is not just a flashback. That would sure be a highlight for me.
I would love to see as a submission a kind of Chuck Vs the baby-sitting, where Chuck and Sarah would have to take care of baby Clara while Ellie and Awsome are gone.
I think it would be funny to see Chuck and Sarah deal with that… especially Sarah XD

that’s the best out-of-the-box idea! I remember Sarah’s face on Vs Seduction Impossible… Let’s see how the very happily married couple handles it. That sure is going to be a lot of fun to watch!
There are two ideas above that really appeal to me, so I’m voting for “Sarah vs. Her Mother,” and “Chuck & Sarah vs. Baby Clara.” Both these ideas have tons of potential. I would think there has to be a mission against the CIA to clear up the “Clyde Decker and the Conspiracy” problem. Whatever we get to see in Season 5, my only hope is that the final episode ties up the loose ends and is of the “happily ever after” variety. Chuck, Sarah and friends deserve this after giving us five years of fun and renewal worry! And so do we!!
1. I’d like to see Jill’s storyline wrapped up cause it feels like a loose end right now also Jordana Brewster is a great actress and it would be a good thing for the show to see her back.
2. That sounds fun, last time we had a triad episode Sarah had a great fight scene in the car 🙂
3. I would like to see Sarah’s mom storyline explored, they teased a few times about her and now would be the right time to finally clear the “mistery”
4. wtf ? Manoosh got what he deserved, he was selling technology to the highest bidder why should Chuck care about him ?
5. I don’t understand the fixation some people have for Cole Barker, unlike Bryce and Shaw his only purpose in the show was to create tension between Chuck & Sarah and since now they are married i don’t understand why should he return, he is not a loose end or anything, Cole was just another love interest just like Lou or Hannah.

Interms of Sarah and her Family – this what Id like to see: Sarah and her Mother’s reunion should be unplanned! Mama Burton approachs Carmichael Industries for help (not knowing that her Daughter and Son – in – law run it!) to locate her Father. I can see her being a Mafia Dame – It has something to do with the restraunt Sarah mentioned in vs The Balcony – to me in film/TV Restraunt = Mafia! It would be interesting to see Chuck’s reaction to marrying a Mafosso’s Daughter lol. As to who plays her Mother, The actress that played Connie in the Godfather or the actress that played Mrs Saprano & is currenly playing Nurse Jackie.

I was thinking about who could play Sarah’s mother – why not complete the Sarah Connor circle and get Lena Headley (who played Sarah Connor on the TSCC) to play Sarah’s Mother.

Agent52, LOVE the “Sarah vs. Her Mom” title. That’s a really good one. Or maybe “Chuck vs. His Mother-In-Law”?
But yes, we absolutely *DO* need to see Sarah’s mom before the series ends.

This is what I would like see in Season 5:
1) Ellie & Awsome being more involved! Having the same level Morgan had @ the end of S3 & S4.
2) Ellie working to give Chuck back the Intersect!
3) Carmicheal Industries using Jeff & Lester & their unique skill set as a decoy. Thinking of Sarah’s comment in vs The Best Friend!
4) Chuck & Sarah babysitting Clara – Comic Gold!!!

Hi all, I could see Bryce coming back too with the Intersect 2.0 [the ring could have revived him] (don’t 4get he was in the vault when Chuck downloaded the 2.0 @ the end of vs The Ring) but he will be a “little crazy” because he doesn’t have the govener!
I’d really like to see a mission that would involve Hartley Winterbottom and his mother joining forces with Team Bartowski. Just the chance to see Mama Winterbottom in action would be worth it. I would also like to see Mama Bartowski (Frost) more involved in sharing her knowledge and experience with Chuck and Sarah on a mission, similar to how Papa B. helped track down Shaw after Chuck spotted him on the subway.
I reiterate that Bryce is not likely to come back when Matt has his own show (that by cable standards has pretty good ratings!). I suspect Jill is gone for good and Jordana has her own show so asI understand it she is unlikely to be coming back,
Scott could be alive, but TPTB have repeatedly said he is DEAD DEAD DEAD. So inspite of the natural speculation regarding his place of death, I don’t expect to see him again (except maybe in a flashback).
Manoosh was a pretty good on off baddie, but I don’t find him interesting enough to really want to see him again.
Decker: Bring him on. TB need to seek and destroy this guy.
In short, for our final 13 let’s see some new directions rather than rehashing old ground
I like the Sarah mom ideas.I and another person also had the idea awhile back that Sarah’s mom was a mafia daughter who is running the business now.
Trying to think of some good choices to play mama Walker…(it has to be a badass) I’m having a hard time..people help me here…
